My pastor's wife (if I'm remembering who told me this story correctly) was praying over someone, who I believe spoke Russian, and my pastors wife started praying in tongues and the lady understood her, for she was speaking Russian. My pastor's wife does not speak Russian, the Holy Spirit made it happen.

    Be advised: long message here
I’m a career firefighter/paramedic and a long time Duck Dynasty fan.
    Backstory:
Circa 2010, I heard fire buddy mention duck dynasty and I said what’s that? He said, It’s the greatest show on television. I had no clue.
I’m an avid fisherman and deer hunter, not a duck hunter. I had never heard of Duck Men movies, Duck Commander or West Monroe.
Fast forward through lots seasons of the show and I became a life long fan eventually though, i lost touch.
Although I regularly kept using my Uncle Si tea glass, the show and ongoings of the Roberstson’s were far from my mind.
    Summer 2023
This past summer my wife and I were desperately trying to find age appropriate television for our 9 year old daughter. I find out that we all loved Little House on The Prairie, The Andy Griffith Show and I Love Lucy.
and, then as a matter of fate, not a stroke of luck, good fortune or random chance, my daughter ran across Duck Dynasty.
I now considered it God Sent.
We began to see the advertisements for THE BLIND. We knew it was coming to a movie theatre but I wasn’t certain my wife would go for it.
I’d heard it was fantastic and subsequently bought it through Amazon Prime and we watched its together, all 3 of us.
It was life changing for me. And has helped my family more than I could ever describe.
As a family, we still watch Duck Dynasty together as often as possible.
At times, we watch Duck Call Room together on RUclips.
AND, although I’m not a podcast listener, I made the decision to listen to THE UNASHAMED podcasts, starting at episode 1 and eventually getting caught up with the latest podcast.
    I’m currently on episode 31 of 841
On episode 31 I heard Al Robertson mention that y’all encourage us to write in either on the Facebook page or RUclips comments.
So here I am, putting it out there.
First and foremost, I’m thankful for the life changing goodness that all of you produce, in A) my life then to my family members, coworkers, patients and everyone I meet & B) for thousands, if not millions of others who hear you guys.
As Phil said, (paraphrased) America isn’t ever gonna be great again unless it starts to live for Jesus.
YOU are what is making America Great again.
God has actively worked in all you and I thank God with all my heart, for you.
    Sincerely,
    Steven J. Hopson

Here's how I received the gift of tongues. Its quite a story. This whole event happened to me on the day of pentecost in 2021 might I add. Well, the day we observe it. Anyway...
We were driving home from Georgia to Tennessee. We had just left a baptism. And not even 2 miles from the baptism, there was a horrific motorcycle wreck. We were able to see the vehicles and the driver of the bike was a friend of ours. I immediately called his wife and told her. So anyway, we are heading home (about a 40 minute drive) and my heart was so heavy for our friend in the wreck. I had never expereinced such heaviness and so burdened for another person like that. So I bow my head as my husband is driving and Im just whispering, praying to the Lord to help our friend. So 10 minutes or so maybe go by and Ims till praying under my breath. In an instant and out of my control, my language went from english to tongues. As I was speaking my voice was getting louder and louder. And I was weeping so heavily. This went on for the entire 40 minute drive home. When we got to iur road my husband kept driving around the neighborhood. He said he didnt want to disrupt whay was happening and he said there was this weight in the car as if he could feel the holiness of the Spirit. I dont really know how to describe that. So he drove around another 10 minutes or so then pulled in our driveway. And when the car stopped I was still speaking in tongues for a while longer. Then my voice started to lower and fade out. And I just sat there in shock when I realized what was happening. My husband was silent. A few minutes later he said, "You looked and sounded like a little child, a little girl that was just meeting her Father for the first time." He said when the Spirit would kind of lift or something I would say "no no no" but with an accent of some kind. As if I was saying no dont go. The presence of the Lord in that car was not chills or shouts or falling and flopping around. His presence filled the car, it filled our bodies and minds, He was everywhere through and through. I cant explain it. But His Spirit was felt, physically. And i felt like a new language had been downloaded into my brain. It was really wild. People dont believe us when we share this story, so I dont share it alot. And since then, Ive spoken in tongues in prayer. But I still am learning how to correctly use the gift. I hear alot of people just speak in tongues in church with no interpreter. I believe if God wants me to use that gift, He will lead me. I dont want to abuse the gifts He gives and use them wrong. Again, believe this story if you want. I can only share my story of tongues.

Concerning the baptism of the Holy Spirit:
There is a story in Acts that clearly states that there were people who had repented and been baptized, but had not yet received the Holy Spirit, nor even had heard of the Holy Spirit. The apostle then laid hands on them and they THEN received the Holy Spirit. Therefore there is clear precedence in the scriptures proving that not all who believe, repent and are baptized are also filled with the Holy Spirit.
This was the case for me.
I asked God to fill me with the Holy Spirit 3 months after my baptism. Then He did! I was completely transformed in that moment! Set free from addictions and empowered with gifts of the Holy Spirit and became a completely different person. The old man had passed away and everything was made new in me. New mind. New heart. New speech. New motives. New abilities. New creation.
And I began hearing God speak very clearly to me, telling me of His love for me and for others as well. He had me testifying of Him almost immediately afterwards as well. I was empowered by His Spirit. Walking in His Spirit. Praising in His Spirit. Worshiping Him in His Spirit.
Every believer NEEDS the baptism and continual filling of the Holy Spirit.
And THAT is why we sing those songs calling on the Holy Spirit to come and fill us and the places we are in.
We can't do life in the Spirit without first being baptized in the Holy Spirit and fire of God and then being continually filled by the Holy Spirit!

Scripture tells us that we are made a new creation when we put our trust in Christ as Savior. We are made a new creation and given eternal life by being born again/indwelled with the Holy Spirit. That happens when you put your trust in Christ. All at once.

    • @GoTellJesusSaves
      @GoTellJesusSaves 11 месяцев назад

@@MFaith777 In the scripture that Paul says we have been made new creations in Christ, he prefaced that statement by saying "IF anyone IS IN Christ". I can only assume through the context that he is talking about people who have already been filled with Christ through the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
Throughout the book of acts we see clearly that believing, repentance, baptism, and being filled with the Holy Spirit can happen in different orders or even all at once.
In one instance, Peter was testifying about Jesus and the Holy Spirit fell upon the whole household of people and they began speaking in other tongues... before they repented and before they were baptized.
In the very first instance of the Holy Spirit and power filling the 120 in the upper room, there was no baptism. Of course they believed. And some of them had probably been baptized by John the Baptist.
In other cases, the people believed, repented, were baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit all at once.
While others received the Holy Spirit as a separate instance of the apostles laying hands on them.
The thing I see as I read through the whole bible is that God does things the way He wants to, when He wants to and in the order He wants to. There's rarely any formula to it. And millions of people will have differing experiences from one another.
I didn't receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit until more than 2 months after I was baptized, while alone in my bedroom. And I wasn't baptized until more than a month after repenting. And I wasn't born again (made a new creation) until the day I was filled with the Holy Spirit. I've received new gifts of the Holy Spirit since being baptized in the Holy Spirit. One of the gifts came more 2 years after.
There's so much more than we've experienced or understood from the scriptures. Much more than we can imagine! God is a really big and diverse God.
I've talked to many other who have all had differing experiences. All of them were awesome and good. Diverse.
Just my perspective. Hope I didn't bore you. Hahaha
Anyways.... have a super blessed and wonderful day. ✨️

I don't have any issues with those who have, I just worry about myself. I have absolutely been filled with the Holy Spirit, but He never stirred me to speak in tongues. I believe it isn't the same experience for everyone.

Tongues speaker here. I love the perspective you bring and the value on Christ being the unifying focus of the Church. My Biblical persuasion toward a continuation view of all the gifts is built on 1 Cor 1:7 "Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed." along with 1 Corinthians 13 talking about the time when the perfect comes (the return of Christ) the gifts will cease. I believe these gifts signal to the world the living Christ in operation through the Church fulfilling His ministry through the Church, and see these gifts as necessary as they were in the first generation of the Church.
Another area that I see it different is that while the Holy Spirit was poured out on that generation in Acts 2, that same group was crying out in Acts 4 for another wave of Holy Spirit power, then we see the Holy Spirit falling on Cornelius' house later in Acts, and throughout the book of Acts in like manner. All that being said, I believe that each generation, each household, each individual in Christ should expect and look for the same type of power to be released in their lives in a discernable manner. With all that being said, I absolutely loved the talk and love your heart and teaching. Greatly edified listening to your conversation.

A man that has now passed that I knew from my childhood was in Israel traveling by foot and crossed over into an area he didn’t know he should cross.
Two soldiers came and were questioning him and were going to arrest him. He began speaking to them in a tongue unknown to him and they released him. He had recorded that on his little recorder and had his interpreter review it once they connected. The interpreter told him what he had said that caused him to be released and told him he spoke in their language.
I heard of a church group in recent years that went on a mission trip and one of them got up before the people and started speaking and it was in the people’s lang language that he did not know, but the people told them it was their language.
I told these stories close in my heart. They are so exciting and powerful.

There is babbling and demonic tongues present, but a lot of US Christians don't understand what tongues really is. A great majority of it IS garbage spoken by lukewarm Christians that think they know what they're doing. A lot also believe that you can practice it. Only if you're in the Spirit fervently, maybe, but not like it's homework.
A lot of it is being enabled by the Holy Spirit to transcend language barriers by either the ability to speak, or having the one's listening being given the ability to hear it in their native tongue while the person delivering it is saying it in their own native tongue.
Had a pastor that traveled down to preach where I went to at one point say he spoke a message in Italian to others, and he doesn't speak it. They heard it as Italian.

Speaking in tongues is not a fruit of the spirit. Why? Speaking in tongues was given in a time that would glorify the risen Christ and was an actual language on the Earth. Jesus would have told the disciples if they would encounter the "tongues" we hear today knowing how important this would be for us and the conflict in the body it would bring. We have Paul telling us about this and no description from Jesus or the other apostles. Why is that. If this is the Holy Spirit why wouldn't this be a product and proof of the Holy Spirits indwelling as is the other fruits of the spirit?

The distinction between Water Baptism and Holy Spirit Baptism❤🔥
Acts 19, especially 1-6, Paul asked, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit WHEN YOU BELIEVED?" And they said they never heard that there was a Holy Spirit. They said they were baptized into Johns baptism. Paul says they were baptized with a baptism of repentance. Then Vs 5, when they heard this, they were baptized in the name of Jesus. Vs 6❤, And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied.

Baptism in the Holy Spirit with evidence in speaking in tongues. Ive spoke in "tongues". Usually in my private prayer life, but it was because the church i was attending was really pushing it. Ive also studied tongues a lot. And my conclusion is that What we hear in most modern churches are not "tongues". Its from the flesh. When I spoke in "tongues" it just felt off to me. Im not saying tongues doesn't exist anymore. But i feel like for the most part it was used to spread the gospel and to be signs and wonders to unbelievers. Angelic "tongues" is between us and God and is as unique as our relationship with Him. Regardless of ones point of view, if any tongue is being spoken in a church setting it MUST have an interpreter and only 2 or 3 in their order. I agree, we need to get back to faith, hope, and love. The gifts are meaningless without those 3. Otherwise we are just clanging cymbals.

I received tongues without asking for it. It freaked me out completely. I asked my pastor about it and he said as long as I was not disruptive it was a good thing. I am quiet in public settings and keep my muttering to God and myself. It amazes me as it happens. I figure that the holy spirit knows the intent of my prayers and is refining them into a more succinct form. I do wonder what language it is. It doesn’t sound Germanic, Slavic, Latin based ; nor any familiar sound. It is not repetitive either: so I am not making it up as I go. Sometimes I hear sounds like I’m speaking the name of my husband or kids’ names. That lets me know that I am not out in left field and that my prayers remain on target. I pray out loud until the Holy Spirit quiets my heart. Then I rest knowing that Gods’ got the issue covered. That’s it, it’s pretty simple if somewhat fantastical. But it’s okay, I am just happy to be useful to God. Whatever he wants is what I want.

I had received the gift of tongues even though the ministries that I had followed at the time preached against the gifts.
John MacArthur is a cessationist and attacked the gifts mercilessly.
This was back in 1999 and I had been saved for about 8 years.
My aunt told me that she thought it was time for me to receive the prayer language.
And she asked if she and her sister inlaw could pray for me.
I had no idea what the prayer language was...😅
      I said sure.😅
Anyway they prayed and I received the gift...it was powerful!
My life hasn't been the same since!
The scriptures say when we pray in tongues our spirit prays our understanding is unfruitful.
But here's what's strange after almost 2 decades my understanding of the scriptures and the kingdom of God is amazing!
I do believe that when we pray in tongues God prays His purpose and will for our lives.😊

    • @berns4146
      @berns4146 11 месяцев назад

@alexscottsmith I'll just go with sharing what my experience has been in accordance with the word of God.
I received the gift of tongues in the fall of 1999, I was born again in the fall of 1991.
When I was saved it was a radical conversion much like Phil Robertson.
I consumed the word of God and sought after Jesus with my whole heart.
One day I was asked to pick my dad's sister up from the airport about a 2 hour drive from home.
When my aunt Jo got into the car with me she said that she thought it was time that I should receive the prayer language and askedif she and her sister inlaw could pray for me when we got home. I said sure but
I had no idea what she was talking about.
They laid hands on me and I asked God to give me whatever it was that would help me serve him.
I had this language begin to come up out of me from what seemed like my belly.
From then on I prayed in the Spirit almost any time that I was alone.
What began to happen almost right away was my understanding of the word of God grew immensely.
I had fasted quite a bit in the months before receiving tongues and continued this practice along with praying in the Spirit.
Using tongues as a prayer language helped dealing with unbelief in my life.
It really seemed to affect the ability of the Lord in sanctification of my life.
The word says when I pray in tongues my Spirit prays but my understanding is unfruitful...but it does affect your understanding later it seems.
There is much more that I could add to this but it is difficult to convey it on this platform.

In the Old Testament, He (Holy Spirit) came upon people for a specific service of the Lord ,but in Acts, He took up residence inside of them.
for a way to teach them how to live, and to have the power of God working through them.
    There’s a big difference.
I could have blood poured on top of my head. It isn’t gonna change my insides but if you cut me , then my blood coming out of me, it’s gonna change me drastically.
That’s the best analogy I can give you.
Anyone in doubt, earnestly go to the Lord and ask him to baptize you in the Holy Spirit .

Yes, this episode is the most controversial I have watched. I will have some points below on it. We must all remember that "your rights to have an opinion, does not make your opinion right".
Paul did not witness the resurrection but he called himself an Apostle. The word Apostle means a sent one with a message. If someone calls himself an Apostle, I think we should leave them, you weren't there when God called them. In Paul's day, some believers didn't think he was an Apostle, hence his statement "I magnify my office" Romans 11:13
Another point is about the gifts of the Holy Spirit, if you don't have it doesn't mean it is extinct and others don't have it too. Paul said we should "covet" these gifts, especially if they will be beneficial for your ministry.

There was a specific purpose for speaking in tongues of other languages. Spreading the gospel among all nations quickly and clearly was important. As I understand it, Paul clears up the matter of tongues pretty simply; there are two tongues, not one...one tongue is a gift of the Spirit called "diverse tongues" where the Spirit of God empowers someone to speak in another KNOWN tongue (language)...this is the gift of the Spirit that was manifested in the initial outpouring of His Spirit where the crowd was amazed hearing their own tongue....this gift, as with all other gifts of the Spirit, are for the purpose of edifying the body of Christ and to reach the unbelievers....the second tongue is what Paul wrote about saying He prays in an "unknown tongue" commonly referred to as praying in the spirit....Paul clearly talked about this where he said it is his spirit that is praying, and it builds him up in Christ. When we are born again we receive a regenerated spirit, our fleshly sinful spirit is destroyed and we receive a new spirit that is of God, just like the Word says we are new creatures new creations, old things are passed away, behold all things are become new and all things are of God." This is referring to the born again experience where our old spirit is passed away and we receive a new spirit that is of God, it's a holy spirit (not THE Holy Spirit, but a spirit that is holy) and in this new spirit is where the Holy Spirit dwells...and through praying in the spirit, the unknown tongue, it builds us up, and actually helps make us more in tune to the leading of the Holy Spirit...so in summary, the gift of the Spirit which is diverse tongues is a manifestation of the power of rhe Holy Spirit through us to reach others through speaking in a different language that people can understand, it's to minister to other people, then there is praying in an unknown tongue, which is our born again regenerated spirit that is of God that is praying, and it is an unknown language that only God can understand and it is to minister and build us up, strengthening our connection and sensitivity to the leading of the Holy Spirit.

@@Fisherisawesome re read that again...if you bring up the verse don't say it in part, cus you would have answered your own question had you just read the while verse...the Spirit itself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered...that has nothing to do with diverse tongues or the an unknown tongue, as it isn't a prayer that's being made by us, but the Spirit who is in intercession for us...which cannot be uttered, so not something that we pray...it's the Spirit of God within us that is praying for us...
It's not our born again spirit that's praying for us, that verse in Romans 8 is specially talking about the Holy Spirit.

Acts 21 to 23 gives us three requirements for an apostle they had to accompanied them during all the time of Jesus ministry, and witnessed his baptism and resurrection. Two of those requirements Paul doesn’t qualify. I like what you guys have said I just can’t shake that one contradiction. I think that was just a requirement for that time for Matthias and Barsabbas.

33:40 wouldn't the head be the One humbled by the body that exults him (coronation), one cannot take what needs to be given.
Just as it took at least 3 wise men to raise one above the rest that actually were Emperors of Emperor's of Emperor's. Reality like Nixon, NaruHito, Doli Lama, the Master of the Shoulin temple, the Ambassador of China in 1972 to 1975ish, the Chief of the Aberigoni and Hawaii, Fiji.......
How else can one be lifted by humbling himself.
Like you were saying we have to humble ourselves to accept what we don't feel we deserve because of our sin.
Your making a lot of good points today 👍 ❤.

Hey unashamed family. Glad that jasse is picking up this subject because without the holy spirit its no cristianity. I dont want to write a lecture about the subject. But i suggest to Jesse to read a book by DEREK PRINCE ABOUT this subject. I think a lot of confusion will go away after a very scriptural and logical lay out. Thanks JESSE for keepi g the focus on Jesus i agreee

Every time ‘acts’ were performed the word tells us it was to glorify the father and reveal his power through who he was calling. This was the case more than pointing to Christ. Yet, it was the Father’s stamp of approval/sign upon him.
That means as these things happen today, they are for the same reason, to glorify God and point to the workings of the power of God through man to accomplish his purposes.
