I am new to this type of soap and would love to try it! I live in the USA. Could I use any type of black olives? I usually purchase them in a jar and they come in liquid. Could I just drain and mash them up to use in this recipe? Thank you!
Thanks for this training ma'am,really educative. Please can one be using this soap everyday and can it be use on face and what those this soap do to face
thank you for the video but if I understand correctly, once the oils (plus the olive paste) melted (between 180f and 200f), we stop the crockpot and we add the lye solution and blende before turning on the crockpot ?? or once the temperature of the oils is good we just pour the lye solution and blende all without stopping the crockpot ??
I made a batch of beldi paste. after a few days of leaving to rest in an open jar, there was oil leaking out, drops of oil around the edges. would it be the essential oil added once the soap was cool , or something else??? The green drops were oily and smelled intensively like jasmin oil which I added 10ml
Soap school a question I have made some beldi a while I go in big batch not used it. It has separated is there any way of recovering it? It is no longer gel like it has become runny.
Hello there, i have really enjoyed your video and learnt quite a lot from you. Kindly respond. I saw glycerine listed on the recipe, at what point did you add it into the cooking process? Thank you
Hi, if I want to add whitening powders, do I add them to the lye solution as they need to be dissolved in a small amount of water. Is it necessary to measure the PH level and if so would test strips be suitable or something else? Kind Regards, Genie.
That's the most complete recipe I've found so far, very nice. I have a question, though: I'd like to use only these ingredients - olive oil, black olives pureed and potassium hydroxide. Can I omit the rest? How much potassium hydroxide and water should I use then? Thank you and keep up the good work. 😎😎
You can absolutely leave out the potassium carbonate, it is only there to help keep the mixture softer. If you are changing anything else however you would need to run the recipe through a sap calculator to determine how much of the potassium hydroxide would be needed. We have a video on how to use a sap calculator on our RUclips channel :)
@@SoapSchoolUK Hello, if I remove the potassium carbonate, the other ingredients would remain with the same amounts? It is because I cannot get the carbonate in Mexico.
You can use olive powder but it will not have quite the same oil level. The powder is usually made from the ground leaves rather than the olive and olive stone.
When I was in Morocco in November, I bought about 1kg of Moroccan black soap and brought it back to Toronto. I looked at it the other day and noticed that it’s become very liquidy, essentially the consistency of juice. What caused this to occur? Is it possible to fix it (I was thinking boiling maybe)? I tried googling for answers, but I couldn't find any.
We use Moroccan argan oil and fragrance with a wide variety of essential oils depending on what we feel like in the day :). Oud smells delicious so I bet it would be great
@@Lilllil745 That is a normal ph range for a natural soap. You can add a small amount of diluted citric acid in water at the end to reduce slightly but you will normally find this is around a 9. Synthetic detergent and surfactants tend to have a lower ph

Hi, We just puree olives with a stick blender. Using sodium hydroxide will not give the same consistency and you would need to recalculate your lye as it would change amounts
Thanx a lot for sharing this great as always.. but i have some questions .. at which temperature we add lye to oils? .. what are the ingredients percentage? And how much potassium carbonate i could use in general? ❤
Hello First i want to thank you for the amazing work you’re doing I have a little question for this recipe: can i make it without the potassium carbonate cause i don’t found it on the market in my country Thant’s a lot again for your masterpiece ❤
Hello, I am a bit confused with the recipe, I wanted to run it on the calculator and it does not give me the amounts you give. What percentage of SF and lye concentration are you using? Glycerin is the SF? And is this put at the same time as the oils or at the end of cooking? Your answer would be very helpful. Greetings from Mexico
A SAP calculator will not account for the second alkali we used which helps keep the mix more fluid. If you not following our recipe, definitely use your own SAP calculator
@@SoapSchoolUK Thanks for your answer. I understand. If I can't get the potassium carbonate, can I just skip it from the recipe and just use the 100g of potassium hydroxide? or do I have to put 125grs? Thank you again.
Hi Shanthi, The Potassium carbonate is not to create the soap but rather to allow the soap to become more pliable or mixable during the cook. Because it is alkali, we had to take it into account in our lye calculation, but it was many years ago and I am not sure of the exact ratio
Hello. And thanks for the wonderful recipe. Do we have to cure the soap just like cold process. Or it can be used as is? Do we have to cure liquid soap pastes as well? Please reply
what kind of black olive paste is that ? can you use cured olives or will the salt affect the soap ? if you are going to give us the recipe, you have to tell us how to get the proper ingredients !!
Anastasia, you can make the olive paste however you like which is why we said pureed black olives in the recipe. Most people make their own by simply popping the olives into a food processor, others buy the olive paste already in jars pre-made as a paste, some use canned or jar olives and blitz them in a food processor or coffee grinder, and some of our viewers pick their own and use them, so I suggest using whatever is easiest for you :)
