    My wife and I toured Shining Brow on our 1st anniversary. Nine months later on May 31 1981 we welcomed our first born. Very inspirational!

    The scenery and the background music are perfectly integrated, so feel so comfortable.

    Unique is all you can describe it as, and form fallowed funtion ! It's like the Architecture History classes you take in college watching these videos. Well in school the professor would point out all the details and history! Frank Lord Wright's genius was a gift to us all.

    We visited Taliesin in the late 60's. Just walked right in. We didn't pay any admission. Someone showed us around a little, but otherwise left us to our own devices. I believe they still were working in the drafting room.
    Beautiful then as is now!
    Have since enjoyed visiting many of his creations over the years.
    Oak Park, first home/studio, Unity Church Chicago, Greek Orthodox Church Wi, Madison Wi Unitarian Church, Madison Monona Terrace civic center, area homes, Johnsons Wax Administration headquarters and Wingspread Racine Wi, Kentuck Knob and Fallingwater Penn, Guggenheim NYC, Marin County Civic Center California. That's all I can remember now!

    As they say, "The stroke of genius". Words alone cannot describe the beauty of this house. It's complicated, yet simplistic.

    I love his architectural vocabulary, as it were. You can see, if you pay attention, fallingwater and the Martin house and even John lautners personal home in Los Angeles hills.

    Thank you so much for this wonderful video and beautiful music. I think Mr. Wright would approve. I shall never get to to see this lovely home so I am very grateful your posting. Have toured Taliesin West. It was nice, but these lush, green surroundings make this magnificent.

    Well done Chris JH and an excellent choice of music. I remember the first time I walked in the living room and experienced that space and sat near the fireplace. I wept out of pure joy.

    Thanks for a very tasteful presentation. We need a massive dose of FLW architecture in the U.K. for people to start looking outward through windows made possible by load-bearing in the centre of each building.

    I havent seen an architech today that has measured up. Wright used top notch materials and craftsman. Today it is nothing but spit and sawdust

      His materials would cost an arm and a leg today. Most of the woods he used are highly endangered.

    seems to be in a state of disrepair or neglect. I'm surprised, is not still a working school? And was that a working (or formerly) gas pump by the garage? Thanks for posting, but a little sad to see.

      @C_M_L 7 лет назад +5

      MrSnickster Wright was a genius but his buildings were made in a way that makes them very hard to maintain. He really pushed the limits of the available materials and considering the fire that destroyed a large portion of the main house it looks pretty good.

      We went through the year before last so 2015 & it seemed like they were updating quite a bit of it at that time but yes, it is still used also as a school, we were there end of October & they were getting at that time to 'winterize' & head for Arizona until Spring.

      It is well over 100 years since it was rebuilt after a major fire. Its not going to look like new construction. Like patina on a valuable antique.

    • @babycakes1402
      @babycakes1402 6 лет назад +4

      Yes it is. It was the mistress he left his wife for & staff & I think some of her kids? But yes, someone they had fired blocked all but one exit, started a fire then killed them as they came out that only accessable escape.

    Why does every Wright ceiling have water stains?

    • @routepluto1983
      @routepluto1983  5 лет назад

      It’s a common problem with Wright. He did think about drain solutions and tried to come up with systems that wouldn’t impede his design but often those systems didn’t work as intended or failed over time.

    • @barrywainwright3391
      @barrywainwright3391 4 года назад +2

      Using flat roofs didnt help and water would form as puddles and would seep inside. Wright designs often had drainage problems
