Near constant nauseous burning in this occipital region for about 30 years. I've seen three migraine neurologist/specialists, have been told I have occipital neuralgia. Its worse when I look up or lie down to sleep. Cannot find a position that doesn't aggravate it. Even when pillows are placed just right, if I move in my sleep to a position that triggers it, I wake with horrific migraines.
I have the diagnosis, but no treatment has been offered. I note the neck triggers my migraines, along with bright lights, certain smells, looking up/down, left/right too long.
What to do? This is ruining my life.
I take Imitrex vasoconstriction meds for the migraines, but they aren't good for kidneys, liver.
