    I heard the vehicles were donated, didn't know the graphics were also. I know to buy these types of wraps cost close to 2K per vehicle.

    too bad this did nothing for my cousin's granfather who laid on the floor for 30 minutes with no pulse waiting on an ambulance which after they finally got there were able to get his heart started again but it stopped later and they coudnt save him maybe if they got there in a reasonable time he'd still be here THANKS CITY OF DETROIT!

    If they had stuck to the old graphics instead of the high dollar wraps. they probably could have gotten another half dozen cruisers.

    The donated money used to put spiffy graphics on the emergency vehicles could be used elsewhere in the city considering the city is bankrupt.I think more bullet proof vest and technology. You do not need a city spiffy graphics to show that you are police or EMS.

    Jst fucking remove the local government the federal government and national guard need to go in and clean this city up i guarantee if you did that give it a year and Detroit would be safe and ready to be rebuilt!

    Considering the one they have now break down pretty much every day, they'll be a lot better off with the new stuff. At least they will last longer without having to be repaired.

    The wraps were donated by a company that does wraps specifically, they were not done by the car manufacturers. So there really isn't a way for them to "afford more cruisers".

    Why don't they sell Malt Liquor and Newport advertisements on all of these vehicles? Hard Core Pawn too!

    Stick0413, the graphics were also donated. The city accepted the wraps but turning them down wouldn't have equaled more cruisers.

    My only gripe (don't even live remotely near Detroit) is that why did they go with the graphics like they did? They could have got another dozen police cars and at least an additional ambulance if they would have simply went with basic graphics on them. The graphics add nothing to them besides looks and who cares about what they look like when you call 911 and need them to respond.

    so sad this city is so poorly governed, its leaders have such lethargy and apathy, and just want to slice away more and more at the dwindling funds and expect pity and a handout. The city fell on really hard times economically, its time the people chose new leadership that will actually do something about it and who actually are capable and worthy leaders. Godspeed to the Detroit Police, Fire and EMS services, who make do with so little and get put on the backburner by the "government" of detroit.

      Do you live in Detroit? I live near it, and holy shit you're comment is retarded as fuck. The city is doing MUCH better than it was before.. And that's thanks to the mayor, who actually gives a fuck, and the police chief who actually comes out and rides along with his officers during operations..

      Shawn Giesick i do read the news, read the election results on detroit going back 50+ years the dems have a stranglehold on detroit. and when the bills cant be put off any longer, the can can no longer be kicked down the road, the prosperous citizen, small buisness owner and investor vote with a moving van instead of a ballot box. the people of detroit still want my taxes to bail them out?

      I would suggest that you do not try to discuss Economics with someone to go to masters degree in economics from Yale business. what killed Detroit's current population was back in the 19 sixties when you neyo conservatives refused to integrate the schools in the white flight from the city began.

    • @shawngiesick2840
      @shawngiesick2840 9 лет назад

      Shawn Giesick
      Yes politics had quite a bit to do with it but GM Ford and Chrysler refused to move into the future, introduce more fuel efficient vehicles. But Detroit was the most prosperous wealthiest most productive city when it was under control of the Democrats. I myself am NOT a Democrat I consider myself an independent. I would suggest that you read further on and understand economics and the downturn of a major city. It's people like yourself that cause other people do not understand the true actions and leverages that cause these sorts of things to happen please and I would suggest that you start reading the news people who are not informed are ignorant. I would suggest reading newspapers are liberal conservative independent and there are many out there to choose from

  • @codyhaack3294

    It's so they stand out and can be identified, now all they need is some new fire trucks

  • @shawngiesick2840
    @shawngiesick2840 9 лет назад +1

    Sometimes in this world would be wonderful if people would pick up a newspaper altri liberal independent conservative and educate themselves and not be ignorant. Bring me an issue such as Detroit on one thing is pretty ignorant. Occam's Razor would suggest that the simplest answer is the correct one

    I once lived in the murder capital in the 80's, it was once the richest city in the US, and home to the 2 largest corporation in the world, it was not Detroit, crazy it was Butte, Montana. It was the first city west of the Mississippi, although by the 80's the company was bankrupt, so was the city. 100's of buildings burned because the fire department was broke. It is also the home of the largest Superfund in the US. By the 80's the population dropped to 31,000. A homicide 1'to 2 times a day. But this city fought back, employed the FBI to fire the corrupted police. They rolled up there sleeves and physically took there city back. Its now a thriving community, home to IBM Blue super computer, the largest historical district in the US. The population is up to 45,000. Small for most, but in 1862 its population was 170,000, before the Louisiana Purchase, took place. It provided copper to WW1 WW2 and electrified the world. I invented the modern electric street cars. It was a industrial giant in the middle of no where. Its nickname was and still the, Richest Hill on Earth. I see Detroit doing the same. Its new tech business are beginning to pass Silicon Valley, Detroit will rise from the ashes

    How disgusting the DPD vehicles have to be supplied by private business and not the American Government, is it going to be left up to these sorts of companies to bail out Capital hill in the future..I think the U.S.A is slowly turning into a 3rd world country..thank god for Roger Penske and the others with such big hearts,people can now sleep a bit better. Im so happy I live in Australia..

      steve hicks
      Did you move to Australia, or have you always lived there? I ask because I'm a bit confused by your comment, and maybe you have a different perspective because you're from a different country. DPD vehicles, along with any other municipal police or emergency vehicles (and regular cars used by the city/town) are purchased with taxpayer money. On a larger scale, most of the federal motor vehicle fleet - which is massive - is purchased, again, with taxpayer money. Neither private businesses nor the American government supply towns, cities, or federal agencies with vehicles - technically, the taxpayers do. It's a very basic part of the advanced social contract that comes with living in the United States. If you want security, you give a part of your paycheck to your town, and the town turns around and uses that money to furnish a police force. On a larger scale, that applies to the federal government. Also, these vehicles are manufactured and/or outfitted by private automobile companies.
      You actually seem to have it flipped - you say that private companies are going to bail out the government. In Detroit, maybe, but the situation in Detroit is so much different than that of the entire country. And by that, I mean so much worse. Detroit drove itself into the ground over the course of years of corruption and mismanagement, and it's certainly showing now - these big companies that are based in Detroit are bailing their city out because it's their home, and they hate to see it fall apart. But as for the country in general, the government has been bailing out private industry a lot over the course of the past few years. GM, for example, has been bailed out by the government. But when it comes to bailouts - either public for private, or private for public - it's generally out of a need for necessity. Our government itself had a stake in GM, and, of course, GM supplied a massive part of its motor fleet and there's no way we could let it sink under bankruptcy. To some extent, the same situation applies here - these people and companies need Detroit because it houses their operations, and they need adequate protection from the DPD, so they bailed them out.
      I hope I didn't miss your point here, and that I cleared some things up for you.

    How in a city that is notoriously broke afford even one extra (screen print hoods)??? Talk about waste and you see it is the little things that add up. It is no surprise in a debt based system they openly flaunt these things, but it is you the tax payers who do not challenge the leaders in these matters. Of course civic pride in your great wonderful metropolis should shine right!
