But when I plugged the SD card into my laptop, I could open all my files just fine. Is there a fix for this that doesnt involve me formatting the SD card? Help please! :(
If you back the data up to your laptop, you could safely format the card in your phone. Sorry, this will require a format to be able to use the card in that phone again if it's telling you that it's corrupted.

It sounds like the card was used as 'adoptable' storage, in which case no other phone will be able to read the contents. It's also possible that the SD card was encrypted, in which case only the original phone would be able to unencrypt it. If the card is undamaged, you can use it again after formatting, but it's very unlikely the data can be recovered. If the data is very important, you'll want to get in touch with a data recovery specialist.

Do you mean that the card itself is getting hot? Have you tried using the card in another device? And have you tried using another card in this device? This error message suggest that it might be the device itself that's causing problems.

Hi Carla, are you sure it's "132GB"? SD cards don't usually come in that capacity. It's normal for a 125GB card to show a slightly lower capacity after formatting, so don't worry about that. If you don't have any crucial data on the card, you can always try formatting it again, but the alternative is to put it into a Windows PC SD card reader. Windows can often repair some problems with SD cards and will tell you there's a problem when you plug it in.

If you've had this issue many times, it might be the quality of the SD cards. Buying a well known brand to replace it might help in future. SD cards also don't last forever. They can easily stop working at any moment, so it's best to always back your files up on a regular basis.

Some one please help me. My phone started graying out my sd card's apps and all the files are gone now. I check everything and my SD card is still recognized in my phone but it won't let me access the files on the card itself. I plug my phone in my laptop and I can access the sd card through there but it's like the files are messed up and I can't read their names. And my laptop says can't open files. Sounds like your card got corrupted. You can try running an SD Card recovery app on your pc using the card adapter, but it's a long shot. Might wanna reach out to a local data recovery specialist if it's urgent.
nothing worked, my sd card isn't busted, and my computer and camera can recognize it, but photos i took hours ago on my camera and looked at suddenly are no longer on the card at all.
Truly sorry about that. SD cards are not reliable in general and this doesn't help your situation right now, but saving a regular backup somewhere else is highly advised if you want to make sure you don't lose any precious data. Do however test that card in another device to make sure it's the card itself and not the phone that is the problem.

Are you using an adapter with the micro SD card? Can you try using another adapter and seeing if that makes any difference? You tried going to Disk Management to see if it shows up there? Tried a different computer?

It's rare for a physical drop to actually damage an SD card, you might want to get the card assessed by a data recovery company. They can be expensive, but if the footage is very valuable it might be worth it.

Hello there. The same thing is happening to me. This time I bought a brand new SD card has never been used before and I put files and folders on the card and they all of a sudden disappear. I put a few music files over to my new micro SD card and it won't play the music. These files play fine on my phone's internal storage. But when I transfer them over to my new two terabyte SD card. If this is on a computer, the first thing is to check that the write-protection slider on the card itself is not on. This only applies to big SD cards. You could also try the official SD card formatting utility: www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/ Hope that helps.

If you've tried all the advice in this video, plus the article linked in the description, then I'm sorry to say your card might be busted. Try putting it into another device to check if that works.
Check that SD card doesn't have the write protection slider switched on, on the side of the card itself. If the card won't accept any size of file, it might have stopped working and can now only read files. It might also be that one of the files you're trying to copy is corrupt. Try moving files one by one to check. If these fixes don't work, consider trying a different SD card to test if your card is the problem or your device/files.

I have taken it to Apple, best buy, and other repair shops and everyone seams to be baffled. Also whenever I put the sd card in any computer, it seams to completely bog the computer down long after the sd card is removed. Safari won't open now, and same with a lot of other apps. Even after the sd card is taken out. Wtf do I do?

You might wanna try putting the card back into that camera and connecting the camera to your computer with a cable.
