I think some things are excess, but others are just collected over time and often we hold on to things we no longer identify with, but a past part of ourselves does. Those are the things I try to declutter and let go of. :)

I loved this format where you sprinkle life stories through the video!

Another good Video Peter. The best thing I did was to get rid of the tv in the living room and that wasn't to follow minimalism it was to stop my young family constantly arguing over what to watch. Thankfully I have never bought into the idea of 'branded clothes', why pay big money to advertise for a company? I just look for good material and tailoring. I totally identify with the financial trap of a car, thankfully we are managing with one car now rather than two (Thanks to free bus and tram travel). I am slowly working on de-cluttering as part of moving to minimalism. How many drinking glasses does one couple need? I don't entertain much so I reduced my drinking glass cupboard by more than 50%. I have a large collection of tea services, that's going to be a challenge because they are all beautiful. I think it will take me a couple of years to reach a minimalist lifestyle, you are helping me do this Peter thank you.

Great video, I relate to many of these aside from the car (Many places in the USA are not designed for public transportation), but I think it is slowly improving to be less car dependent in the cities. I'm also left handed. As I have been going through another round of decluttering, I realize I don't ever use any of my cookbooks so I am giving those away.

Always a great and interesting video. I've been doing the same things for years that you focus on today... however... spending decades in the Foodservice industry I have quite a few cookbooks! Enjoying cooking, not wanting to eat the same thing everyday I use these books to make budget-friendly meals.

I definitely get the electric guitar one :)
Got myself one, because it was my dream and I'm also a musician. Though, that I'm going to sample it ofter.
At the end, I think, I've recorded it in total 2 times, but in my case, I'm still happy to have it.
I love the way it looks in the interior and it reminds me that I've accomplished something I could only dream about before :)

Well said! I think everyone has a story like your guitar story in their past, although maybe not quite as exciting… hope you are well. :)

Hi Peter, I'm interested in your thoughts on how minimalism, sustainability and ethical consumerism intersect. While my experience mirrors yours in terms of stepping away from designer/branded clothing, however I don't buy cheap knockoffs or H&M fast fashion. I focus on intentionally purchasing good quality, ethically made clothing that will last and where the supply chain is transparent. For me, minimalism and ethical purchasing go hand in hand.

Ah, Denmark Street, as an ex-Londoner I know that well! (It features in the TV drama 'Strike' too). Thank you for another helpful video.

I dont have a tv at home and to turn on my kinda slow laptop to watch something sometimes itsnt worth the effort so I just read or watch something on a free tv app on my phone...at work there is a huge 50 in tv that I think can be seen from space its so big n bright...and my work area is small so its a bit too much in my face so I really dont turn it on unless there is something I know I really want to watch and I sit as far away from the screen as I can....sadly living in the desert with 120F heat and no reliable public transport I have to have a car, but if I lived in a walkable city I would never own a car.....I also dont have all the other items you mention...great video 😊

Boooooo! Electric guitar?! 😅 I teach guitar for a living, I think I have 8? Ironically I dont have a decent amp, I like using amp modellers on my laptop, the software is great these days. I’m selling all my studio gear right now as I dont use it and it keep calling out to me to use it, so I do find value from your videos thank you! 🙏🏻👍🏻
