I wonder how much you could pull from there 868 MHz antennas on LTE B20 or what remote towers you could connect to. Definitely will look into the Meshtasic thing though, I have basically a 360 degree view and might be able to get some interesting here.

Wait so you'd use these things to communicate in the scenario where for some reason you couldn't even use a local wifi network and an a chat app on your phone?
Range test with a bicycle? Nah that would be too far to ride 🤣. On 868 MHz you can reach 15 km+ on ISM. I recently got my callsign and tried the 433 MHz version (100 mW). With the stock Antenna it can reach the next iGate 30 km away but in small depressions outside los it fails. I upgraded to a 1 m Antenna on my car and now it works like a charm - range test is still pending but I think 50 km+ is no problem. This technology is just amazing! PS: Keep in mind: With directional antennas you might need to reduce the transmit power to stay below the maximum allowed ERP but I guess most people will just plug and play.
Actually it wouldn't make as much difference as you thing, these things have a massive link budget of around 120-150dB so can see just added 20db won't make as much difference as you think.
You're using an adapter to connect the wrong antenna type. That antenna is for Wi-Fi, the port is for Cellular SMA type. The antenna you used is RP-SMA, not SMA. Try a cellular antenna for 4G bands or tin foil wrapped around a carat to go head-to-head against the RP-SMA antenna, I'd tune in for those results. :) If you were in the U.S. I'd say PM me your address and pay the postage and I'd send a couple. Why is the aerial sticking up, making the case an awkward 'L' shape? Lay it along the alongside of the lora board and it would be a far more convenient rectangle.
