That EFI set up is very nice! A lot of work there... I'm sure the injection helped the turbo output considerably from intake charge cooling. Excellent choice!

I've always believed that computer driven fuel injection is really necessary to get the most out of turbos.

Nice car, thanks for showing it! A lot of work went into it and it shows. Be aware of the haters, saw a guy write rod knock on start up, another said the valves were gone. These two do NOT know what they are talking about, I heard NO knock, and at worst, the valves might need to be checked and adjusted. EASY job to do. Aircooled boxer engines are a different animal, can't compare them to water cooled! Thanks for the show, again!!!

For all that was done for the engine rebuild, that tappet noise should not be there.

I had a 67 Corvair never ever made that kind of noise upon start up.

My brother had a '65 Monza with a 110 HP engine. Then he got a '66 Corsa Convertible with a 140 HP engine and a '65 Corsa Coupe with a 180 HP turbo engine. He swapped the engines in those last two and had a '66 Corsa Convertible turbo. Great ride! I remember when he finished with the swap and went to start the engine. One touch on the starter and it caught first time. _Chevy!_ I bought the '65 Coupe with the 140 HP and and put two Holley 2-barrel carbs on it. Much better setup than the four 1-barrels. Wish I still had that car. Damn it was beautiful too. Silver and Black.

Always loved these. My best friend from high school had one and it was quick. Nader didn't kill the corvair. Chevy was concerned that it was taking sales from the vet

That and the intro of the Camaro. I wish GM would have spun off the Corvair as it's own brand. They had a Truck, Van, Coupe, Sedan & Wagon. They were low maintenance, good gas mileage. GM could have sold them globally.

The introduction of the Ford Mustang was a big factor too.

What a beautiful car! My first car, back in '81, was a '65 Corvair. Just a 500 model with the 110hp engine, but it was a lot of fun and very, very different than anything else the Big Three ever built. I'd love to own another Corvair, but it will have to wait until I get the kids through college. :-(

Holy Cow!! Super cool conversion. I need this car. Did it ever sell? saw quite a bit if cracking in the paint, but honestly, who cares. This machine is built to be a canyon carver...not a museum piece.

Amazing upgrades to a gorgeous car!... the only thing I question, given all the updates is having all 4 drum brakes and not going with at least front discs or all disc brakes. Otherwise, wonderful underrated fun car!

    • @curbozerboomer1773

Where is this event located , Thousand Oaks?
Guys these cars were light, not super fast so drum brakes are plenty sufficient
Plus they are lighter and have more pad material than disc.
V8 conversion? Yep maybe consider discs

My Dad had a white/red interior '65 Corsa 140hp w/4 carb set-up. Fuel injection looks like the way to go for a daily driver. Very nice looking car and fun to drive I'm sure!

I had a 65 Corsa with 4 carbs also. Once I replaced the pushrod o-ring seals in 1972, I never had to add a drop of oil between oil changes. The carbs never had to be adjusted. Wonderful car!!!!!!! I still miss it!

Hey You covered everything on the build & she is sweet looking as well as sounding! I myself own a 65 Corvair Corsa Turbo , Do You still have the stock components ? Or did You do the engine upgrade with a spare engine? & I did my build about 33 years ago . So when You say You doubled the horsepower how much is the actual horsepower is your engine putting out ? Thanks for video & showing your Corvair Corsa Turbo.

I have a 66 2dr 4spd. We never got the engine to work well. We replaced it with a 4.3 V6. Holley fuel injection. This change made it operate at today's highway speeds. We also replaced the drum brakes to disc front and rear. Radiator in the front. Car also has a/c. I meant it to be driven on weekends. Wife drives it daily. Oh well.
