Counties like mine have had the local, especially rural communities, disenfranchised and have literally no say-so in their home communities and county.

I have had to start holding off on engagements, conversations, and content shares regarding Helene recovery when it comes to my own channel, simply because it is so hard to look at things from this far away and plainly see what is or is not viable. Certainly there are other RUclipsrs like yourself that are sincere and doing honest work, I would think the Cajun Navy is a legitimate organization, I have donated to their GoFundMe, I feel like it was probably used honestly, the good thing about GoFundMe accounts is they guarantee your money back if they're found to be fraudulent, so then we have to hope GoFundMe is an honest organization and good on their word.
I truly agree with almost all that was said about influencers. When I watch someone I click on their channel and if they only have one video I click off. But to lump all influencers to gether was wrong. What about the ones that came in the beginning on their own dime and brought their helicopter's in and saved so many. The ones that have raised money and have given it. Yes their is ones that are only in it for the clicks. But not all influencers are.

We had similar issues with the rubble from Hurricane Laura whilst Hurricane Delta was barreling in. Walls of debris lined all the ditches of our small town in SW Louisiana and finally the city got an outside bunch of dump trucks to get most of the debris up before Delta hit. It’s very dangerous to have debris flying around if another storm comes. God save us every one! ❤️🇺🇸

I think there was one sold by another company to. Unfortunately the new codes those wouldn't pass those. The thing is they were better house's than what's being built now that would pass the current codes.
I am a retired broker as well..and completely agree those older “kit” homes sold by Sears are amazingly designed and built so well …I live in the Hickory area of NC and there are at least 100 of those older homes in our area still here and they are all still very well maintained and in excellent condition…an easy to sell home too! our central unit has slid down the hill and into the ground, my son come and we walked round the trailer & i saw the central unit was sold down the hill &going into the ground,I told him so we tried 2 prop it up with brick &a rock from the yard. my sons cut trees, burned alot of stuff we couldn't save. some of our neighbors didn't have anything happen cause the ppl own that land on down put in trailers 2 lease they built them up ,cut all surrounding trees, built up round the creek &most that lands on hills anyway. they mainly just had power out &most them had generators, 4x4 trucks stuff like that . on out side it's down hill so the rain come from front straight down not counting the damage 2 our roof,the kitchen fire,we still have no window or watewain kitchen also we have no way 2 filter water 2 drink,cook . Just using water take baths me and dad had almost like chemical burns ,my face,places on my head n my hair ,skin burning on my body I've gotta filter bom u put under tub faucet 2 help some . my dad's got dementia, diabetes, &other stuff he's 72yrs old. as I'm typing this our powers been on &off ,we have no way 2 heat if it goes out 4 a while, I'm disabled, fibromyalgia, heart problems, spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease, constant pain/muscle spasms, anemic &other things. my son cotries help us,his house was flooded,trees down buncha stuff, insurance aint showed up fema aint done nothing all this happened the 1st 2days of the storm we still ain't had them here.i was taking stuff 2 ppl /families that the place trying 2 help us didn't know where 2 go or didn't know the back rds till a simi run me off interstate I got hurt he kept going. my sons had pneumonia &still trying 2 help us,fix my car with parts off my old car. my dad's 94yr old great uncle stays with my son he got me some parts 4 Christmas I'm truly greatfull. I'm greatfull 4 the ppl helping ppl,the new friends I've made during all of this sad we met this way. I pray 4 everyone every night. God bless you all. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
They are only including the deceased folks that have been ID'd in the official death count. There are actually probably 100's that are missing and never will be found due to the fact, they are buried in the silt or debris. :(

Hi. I live in Mitchell County and went through the hurricane. We live along, but we'll above the Toe River. We have seen the devastation first hand and were landlocked for 11 days ourselves. I was being asked who to refer people to so they could donate and help us out. Even being here I could not discern the good from the bad so I was hesitant to make referrals. I found about Stephanie maybe 7 weeks into our recovery. I talked to her on the phone first, then I went to visited. Stephanie is the real deal and has a heart of gold. I am so convinced that I am now one of her volunteers. I hope this helps you or someone else looking for a worthwhile place to help.

This isn't some random fake volunteer wearing dark sunglasses, this is an actual local doing the real work for her community. Way to go on supporting volunteers. @37 minutes in. How could she say if a volunteer comes to help they should be self sufficient to take care of themselves. These are people taking time out of their lives to help rebuild yours. Missing time away from their families and putting their life on hold for a brief time to come help rebuild homes and dreams in your local area. And also to say god sends what she needs when she needs it. But cant help the very people that he is sending to help.
Good SAR teams and others who come to help know that they shouldn't be taking resources and supplies (and definitely not financial donations) from the community they're trying to help. Especially communities like this who are desperately in need of resources. So if they're legitimate they will come in fully resourced to actually help. Legitimate teams coming in to help would never ask you all, the public, to send them financial donations instead of sending it directly to the local communities and the centers set up (like Stephanie's) that directly help residents.
@@ryanfindstruth I didn't mention anything about a volunteer taking financial donations. I took it as SAR team was the camp that she wouldn't help with supplies and the volunteer was the individual or small family of volunteers that are not associated with a group or SAR team. The way I took it is if a volunteer was in need of a mask or a bottle of water or even a blanket since they are the people in the tents in her community that she wouldn't help them they could fend for themselves. I believe most if not all volunteers would not ask for help. However for her to say god sends what she needs when she needs it and wouldn't help a volunteer says a lot. This is how I interpreted what she said. Maybe I am wrong but I wouldn't have said it. I would care for both my community and the volunteers that came to help rebuild.
@tomsawyer1906 The volunteers that come to the area legitimately are typically with a 501(c) volunteer organization that provides them with what they need. Either way we'll be finding those "tent cities" and getting to the truth about who these people are. I think she was choosing her words carefully because the outsiders coming in who are not with legitimate 501(c) organizations like Samaritans Purse or United Way have not actually been providing help to the communities. In some cases quite the opposite, unfortunately.

Just as there are locals take advantage of the situation as she mentioned about the local guy wanting a roof put on his house. The two groups we've personal verified as legitimate is Rebuilding Hollers (www.rebuildinghollers.com/) and Mission Recovery in Pensacola (missionrecovery.us/). Also nearly every church in this area is helping their community, churches are typically a safe bet when looking to volunteer, as well as Samaritan's Purse.

There are very few individuals in the world who exist in a vacuum without a single soul in the world who knows them and would report them missing.
I'm not sure yet about Appalachian Channel and Chronicles of Olivia. Ward just admitted one of the organizations formerly promoted was a scam and he's asking people not to donate so that's a plus for him. Do you have any examples of known scammers or scams they've promoted? We've seen a lot of clickbait but haven't confirmed verified scams yet.

I can sympathize with the lady re: her own predicament. I had the same situation on my property; whole swaths of trees came down on my driveway.

Hi. I live in Mitchell County and went through the hurricane. We live along, but we'll above the Toe River. We have seen the devastation first hand and were landlocked for 11 days ourselves. I was being asked who to refer people to so they could donate and help us out. Even being here I could not discern the good from the bad so I was hesitant to make referrals.
I found about Stephanie maybe 7 weeks into our recovery. I talked to her on the phone first, then I went to visited. Stephanie is the real deal and has a heart of gold. I am so convinced that I am now one of her volunteers.

@@nurscathwill Just ask anyone in Yancey and Mitchell counties about her and you'll learn everything you need to know. You have to understand, we aren't covering liars and scam artists that other channels are covering. We're talking to actual local recovery workers and citizens of these actual communities so you can call anyone in this town and ask about Stephanie Johnson and confirm for yourself what she's been doing for her people. This isn't some random fake volunteer wearing dark sunglasses, this is an actual local doing the real work for her community. And unlike other channels we provide her full name so you can verify for yourself that she's real.
We will never vouch for anyone who isn't legit. In fact we plan to track down the scamners and expose them.

Way to go on supporting volunteers. @37 minutes in. How could she say if a volunteer comes to help they should be self sufficient to take care of themselves. These are people taking time out of their lives to help rebuild yours. Missing time away from their families and putting their life on hold for a brief time to come help rebuild homes and dreams in your local area. And also to say god sends what she needs when she needs it. But cant help the very people that he is sending to help.
Good SAR teams and others who come to help know that they shouldn't be taking resources and supplies (and definitely not financial donations) from the community they're trying to help. Especially communities like this who are desperately in need of resources. So if they're legitimate they will come in fully resourced to actually help. Legitimate teams coming in to help would never ask you all, the public, to send them financial donations instead of sending it directly to the local communities and the centers set up (like Stephanie's) that directly help residents.
@@ryanfindstruth I didn't mention anything about a volunteer taking financial donations. I took it as SAR team was the camp that she wouldn't help with supplies and the volunteer was the individual or small family of volunteers that are not associated with a group or SAR team. The way I took it is if a volunteer was in need of a mask or a bottle of water or even a blanket since they are the people in the tents in her community that she wouldn't help them they could fend for themselves. I believe most if not all volunteers would not ask for help. However for her to say god sends what she needs when she needs it and wouldn't help a volunteer says a lot. This is how I interpreted what she said. Maybe I am wrong but I wouldn't have said it. I would care for both my community and the volunteers that came to help rebuild.
@tomsawyer1906 The volunteers that come to the area legitimately are typically with a 501(c) volunteer organization that provides them with what they need. Either way we'll be finding those "tent cities" and getting to the truth about who these people are. I think she was choosing her words carefully because the outsiders coming in who are not with legitimate 501(c) organizations like Samaritans Purse or United Way have not actually been providing help to the communities. In some cases quite the opposite, unfortunately.
@@ryanfindstruth Ok We can agree to disagree. Im sure there are pretend to be volunteers there trying to take advantage of the situation. Just as there are locals take advantage of the situation as she mentioned about the local guy wanting a roof put on his house. But as I mentioned in the first comment I wouldn't have said it or at least not in the way she said that they can be self sufficient. Just my opinion. Have a good night.

we haven't had insurance come buncha lies,fema aint done nothing, we're in north Carolina mountains. alot of people being denied from both fema,insurance, some aint showed up 4 ppl just like what happened 2 us .

The two groups we've personal verified as legitimate is Rebuilding Hollers (www.rebuildinghollers.com/) and Mission Recovery in Pensacola (missionrecovery.us/).
Also nearly every church in this area is helping their community, churches are typically a safe bet when looking to volunteer, as well as Samaritan's Purse.

@@bsholderlowescs Yes but there will be family reporting them as missing and that's where names come from before bodies are found and need to be identified. There are very few individuals in the world who exist in a vacuum without a single soul in the world who knows them and would report them missing.

Ward just admitted one of the organizations formerly promoted was a scam and he's asking people not to donate so that's a plus for him. Do you have any examples of known scammers or scams they've promoted? We've seen a lot of clickbait but haven't confirmed verified scams yet.

@@djalmy5951 Everything starts from word of mouth. The difference here is that we don't report until we've obtained the paper trail/evidence that can't be denied. And you'd be surprised how some people think they can't be caught and the crazy evidence they leave behind.
