DaVinci Resolve Beginners Tutorial: Quick And Easy Video Editing:- • DaVinci Resolve Beginn...
DaVinci Resolve (originally known as da Vinci Resolve) is a color correction and non-linear video editing (NLE) application for macOS, Windows, and Linux, originally developed by da Vinci Systems, and now developed by Blackmagic Design following its acquisition in 2009. In addition to the commercial version of the software (known as DaVinci Resolve Studio), Blackmagic Design also distributes a free edition, with reduced functionality, simply named DaVinci Resolve (formerly known as DaVinci Resolve Lite). The software includes modules for video editing, color correction, audio mixing/effects (including Fairlight), and visual effects (including Fusion). It can either be used as an intermediary between other NLE software and Digital Cinema Package (DCP) creation software, or as a standalone end-to-end video editing application. For content delivery to services such as Netflix, Resolve provides functionality to create and validate IMF (Interoperable Master Format, standardized by SMPTE[47]) packages, known as IMPs (which comprise multiple components, such as MXF content, a composition playlist (CPL), and XML package data]), without the use of separate DCP software. Compatible file formats include video formats such as AVI, MP4, QuickTime, DNxHD, and XAVC data exchange formats such as XML, EDL, AAF, DCP, MXF, and CinemaDNG; audio formats such as AAC, AIFF, and WAVE; and image formats such as RAW, OpenEXR, TIFF, DPX, R3D, JPEG, and JPEG 2000. Supported plug-in types include OpenFX,VST, and AU. As of version 12.2 (December 2015), Resolve includes support for the Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) standard for a high dynamic range. Other supported capabilities include OpenCL and Intel Quick Sync Video.
Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks, very clear and understandable, thumbs up !
Glad it helped!
You can use Blanking Fill effect.
You saved me so much time thank you🎉
Thank youuu! I knew how to do the blurred side bar effect (from my Premiere Pro days) but I couldn't figure out how to remove the black from the top layer to get transparency through to the bottom layer in Resolve. The 99.999 thing worked! Uggghhh. Life saver. It's 4:15am and I'd about had it 😭. Now I can continue on with life lol 🙏🏾😊
Can’t seem to work mine out
Great tutorial, it helped me learn how to do this! For anybody else though, at least for me, in Resolve 18 I have to put the background clip in the Video 1 slot and the foreground in Video 2 (or I'm assuming at least in a layer underneath in the list of tracks) for the effect to work. I discovered this while setting the opacity to 99.999% and having it do nothing visually, so I swapped the order of the tracks and that solved it.
Nothings working for me
Wow, this video is soooo helpful! Very clear explanation and so very easy to do. Thank you so much!

thank you!
The comments section of this video were very helpful because I couldn't remember the name for the effect. Blanking effect will do this for you instantly with any image of video. The video on the other hand is 5 minutes and 3 seconds of wasting your time!
That was a great tip... 99.999 setting. Beauty!
Glad it was helpful!

Dear Sir, i have tried many more times to edit the video but i could not make a video according to your way. i am using davinci resolve 18. Please make a video in detailed. Thank you.
I'm using Davinci Resolve 17.4.2, and the trick with 99.999 opacity doesn't seem to work in this version anymore. Do you have any other workarounds? Thanks!
You could try cropping one of the sides by a value of 0.1. This works for me.
Mine still doesn’t work can’t get the background to show up on one clip
Very nicely explained
THANK YOU
BOSS!
How have you found Davinci Resolve for editing. I have been using Premier Pro but am sick to the back teeth of the cost and lack of real support.
I use it most of the time. Can't fault it!
Thank u very much man , keeps a lot
No problem 👍
Perfect!
I worked around it by cropping instead :)
Loved your video. Sadly it does not work with Davinci Resolve 17. But thank you anyway!
It works. Right now i`m doing the same.
Yes I just followed along with Resolve 17 and it worked perfectly (I didn't have issue with not seeing video 1 as described so no workaround necessary).
