Thank you Time Teller...Thank you.
Really shouldn't be complaining too much about this watch. People have been wanting Hamilton to make this watch for years and they finally delivered. Definitely has a markup for the movie tie-in but a cool watch nonetheless. Also, it's not going to be a completely limited edition watch as the only thing that is limited is the special packaging so the watch will probably get marked down eventually if they decide to make a lot more. EDIT: Just saw it has a 52mm lug-to-lug height. That is bigger than a Deepsea... 42mm size is accurate to the movie so can't really complain about that.
Interstellar is a great movie, especially when you watch it at IMAX. The plot, the soundtrack (gorgeous!), characters - everything is really good. But that still doesn't justify the price of the watch.
Jory, you should probably at least see Interstellar before making comments about the “Murph.” Its relevance to the movie is much more significant than the other examples of movies where Hamilton watches make an appearance (The Martian, Jack Ryan). Is the $995 price tag for the “Murph” high? Certainly. Will watch loving fans of the movie pay that price? Absolutely! As others have said, this is a watch that fans have been asking Hamilton to make for almost 5 years. And now Hamilton is finally making it. This watch will sell!
@@thetimeteller I think you may have misunderstood my comment. I wasn't trying to change how you feel about the watch. I was trying to explain why this particular "movie watch" may be a little different than the others that you had mentioned, and why someone might spend this amount of money on the watch. I agree that the MSRP is too high for this watch from a specifications perspective. However, with that said, its relevance to the movie will cause people to buy it.
Interstellar is definitely one of the best movies out there, the attention to detail in the script writing, cinematography and acting make it as good as it is. Wouldn't hate on a masterpiece of a movie without watching it. The watch is a major part of the plot at some points too.
Hi Jory. Have already got my order for the first run of The Murph (with the box and all the limited shit) in with my mate at my AD. Recently bought a Khaki 38mm Mechanical hand wind - cheapest watch I own (by some margin) and wearing it as my daily now - love the damn thing. Thanks for the video...........BUT (and I'm not one for complaining generally about this sort of thing) out of a 5:28 long video, the last 1:26 was advertising for the shop and urging subscribers to join, click the icon, etc., etc. I have been with you since under 4.5k subscribers and you really don't need to do the hard sell mate (in my opinion). While accepting that we all need money to do what we do, please keep the eye on the ball.
So you haven't seen the movie and have essentially no opinion of this watch other than it looks like something you would wear. What was the point of this video again?
Hamilton in the movies goes way back. There's a great synchronized wristwatch check scene in the classic 1954 film noir, Crime Wave. The scene cuts between three close ups of the three bank robbers' Hamiltons (two different models). If you're a noir or "watches in the movies" fan - or both - it's definitely worth a watch.
Hamilton makes some solid, very good watches. Want that Murph watch like since forever. Think I am going to get it. Hope you see the movie and like it too.
Jory, 'Interstellar' not only deals with the space travel per se. But the Laws of Relativity, and It's more surreal aspects; to include Time Travel. But, the "back story" is the Love between a Father and Daughter. They are very tight. To sum up, this movie promotes and provokes thought. So much so; that this brief description, can never do it justice. EDIT: I've been noting some complaints about the Watch's size as being too big for a Field Watch. Well, while "The Murph"/ the watch, is certainly a "tool watch". It should be understood, that in the movie; the Father is an Astronaut. And He gives Her; His "heirloom" watch as a farewell gift. ie. It's a Pilot's Watch; which justifies It's overall size. But more importantly, It becomes an integral part of the storyline.
Chris Nolan makes really good, really original movies. I don't have a problem seeing a Hammy in one of his flicks. Worn&Wound missed the biggest one in their Hamilton movie-watch feature though, IMO. I mean, how do you overlook the Ventura in MiB(s)? The Electric Watch has huge horological significance.
I've got the other watch in the movie, the Khaki Pilot Day Date Automatic. To me it's worth the asking price based on the day date complication, but the same money for a more basic watch is a bit much in my mind. The Murph looks great though.
Personally I think it may be a good replacement for my sarb033, looks a beautiful watch regardless. May loose a little class if it's too big on the wrist tho
The reason this watch is a buzz is because it does have a somewhat part in the plot: other Hamilton watches didn’t do that. It also was never made. The movie came out and although it was part of the movie, they didn’t want to release it to the public! It is cool and the movie is cool. You want to understand the watch- watch the movie! 👍
I’ve been a bit slow on the whole LE box Murph thing. Here in the UK you can preorder but no guarantee you’ll get the LE box. I like the watch and prefer to have the box as well - especially as the prices don’t seem to drop if you don’t get the box. Might drop in to the AD tomorrow and find out the lay-of-the-land. I think I’ll end up waiting for the furore to die down and picking up the watch later by itself at a more sensible price. There will be some people who will buy and want to make a profit. LE Box - LOL! A fantastically cheap way to up your initial price. Interested to see how they hold their value and if the normal-box watch will stay up there as well - I submit that the price will drop. I don’t need new. I don’t like to pay over the odds. I am a patient man.
Totally off subject from your video but I had a question for you. I am considering buying the new wave dial Omega Seamaster 300. It looks like I can buy it New on the grey market for the same price or less than I can buy it used from an online dealer. Any reason I shouldn't buy it from a grey market site?
Fan of Hamilton watches. Like the look of this watch but not the pricing, especially since it is only a H10 movement. I’ll wait to see if they have a regular production release and lower price.
I think it’s a part of their regular line now, but the “special” edition comes with a tesseract style box. That’s what you pay double for. I think. maybe.
To quote the time teller "If you haven't seen it yet, what are you doing?" Seriously watch Interstellar, it's about so much more than just space. Also keep up the awesome content
Is it really only released with Hodinkee? I think they only wrote an article about it... Although almost anything Hodinkee writes or comments on gets hyped up and thus also gets marked up consequently. Anyways, as far as I can tell, the Murph appears to be sold directly through Hamilton currently with no mention of Hodinkee. That being said, the price... At $995, I'll still say it's a bit steep for a basic field watch which you can get in very similar fashion from Hamilton for at least half the price. Preorders are now open for the standard non-limited edition box FOR THE SAME PRICE?! That definitely does not sweeten the deal. As such, I think the watch is handsome. I'm sure the build and overall quality will be there. But, if I weren't stuck on the idea of getting the watch with the limited edition box, I'd wait for the standard set to hit Jomas, Mass Drop or other gray market sellers for about $600-700 which I believe they may come in at which is more reasonable. The Martian and Interstellar I saw were both great. Admittedly, a lot of hype around both before I saw it so u think their effect fell short of expectations because of the overblown hype. Still, both solid scifi movies which I enjoy. I am surprised you never watched Interstellar. Like many of Nolan's movies, they revolve the concepts of time. I think his movies are a must if you're interested in the theories and concepts of time and watches.. Besides, most of his movies are quite watchable. I liked Memento, Dunkirk and Interstellar. I think there may be a couple more movies where time plays some role in the story telling. I actually don't think his versions of Batman were too bad. Not my favorites, but they did have some good moments. He may have had the best big screen Joker rendition still to date. I've also watched Amazon's Jack Ryan series. Not sure if it's my favorite Jack Ryan relate movie or series, but I like it.
Nice looking watch, I heard that it is limited, but the limited is on the box you get and won’t have limited on the watch it self. Plus it is double the price. Disappointed that you are pay a lot more for a box
I almost disliked the video when you said you hadn't seen Interstellar. Like some of the other comments have said, it's one of the greatest recent movies ever.
Jack Ryan Shadow Recruit was good movie have the Hamilton Khaki Field Titanium and is one of my favorite everyday watches. Has some of best PVD coating I’ve seen so far.
Interstellar was not bad, I’d watch it again nothing else on. The Martian is FREAKIN AWESOME!!! I’ve got Mark Watney as a screen saver seriously watch it dude it’s brilliant!!! Oh, btw, TMNT is not the best movie ever made. That would be Aliens.

People say that 42mm is a normal size, and it is. But consider how all Khakis have loooong lugs and this about this one. It is 52mm lug-to-lug... That is just too big for the size
Interstellar is the movie that put hamilton on my radar. Sucks that they just thought about releasing the murph this year. Would’ve bought that instead of my khaki king.
I'm confused about this whole Murph watch thing. Can someone help me out? If the watch was in the movie, that means the watch was already released _before_ the movie (or else, how the hell could it be in the movie, right)? So is this just a money grab, "Hey! Buy the watch from the movie that came out several years ago, but give us more money for it!"? Does that about cover it?
well Jory, you may hate the watch... but you HAVE to watch Interstellar (btw there are 2 Hamilton watches that appear in that movie) also, you are totally right with the Hodinkee thing... its gonna cost like 5 grand and a sacrificed virgin
This is essentially a khaki field auto 42mm. Exact same case, crown and movement but different dial and strap. That being said is it worth $1000? No... but nice piece.
You gotta see Interstellar! I wasn't interested in the movie either but I started watching it when I was bored and it's great. I like the Murph watch but it's a little big for my wrist.
Interstellar is one of my favorite movies. The soundtrack is mesmerizing (as are most Hans Zimmer scores). And now it has a dedicated watch? The only way it could get better is if there was an option to edit out Matt Daymuuuuhhhnnn.
I love that Murph, unfortunately 2x the price for a "regular" is a deal breaker for me. You're also paying for the movie exclusivity. Furthermore while the design is gorgeous, that I don't like the 42mm size. My first swiss was a 40mm Tissot and I'm not too happy about the size now. < 40mm watches are ideal for me.
Just got mine, very dissapointed. Going with a nonreflective coating on the crystal was a huge disappointment. EVERY light source reflects off of this thing, and it doesn't have the usual Hamilton weight too it. It feels like a low level Seiko. Very dissapointed for the price.😞
Steven Kubitz when I was younger up till I was about 25 I thought that turtles 2 was the better movie but one day it just clicked. The more serious and more mature tone of the turtles one makes it the better movie by far. In turtles one there is no salami nunchucks there’s no song tie in ( ninja rap is awesome yet still silly ). It just seemed that the stakes were higher and and the situation was much more dire in turtles one. It was a movie that you would watch and be genuinely engaged by not a slap stick comedy that made you chuckle slightly. Oh ya no one cares about tokka and razar sorry.
Firstly, a handsome watch! The hands are my favorite part. But do I think it is too big, even if the size matches the film’s. Kinda needs to be big on screen to emphasize its importance to the plot, but I think they should’ve made it smaller for real, Jessica Chastain-sized people to wear. Also, this watch came out way too late now to be a good seller. Interstellar came out 5 years ago! People have moved on.
Interstellar was great. I have wanted this watch since I saw it in the movie. Immediately after watching the movie I hit the internet. A grand though is pretty steep I think, for me at least.
Interstellar came out almost 5 years ago, why are they releasing this watch now? Don't get me wrong, I like Hamilton, and I liked Interstellar, but they're not exactly striking while the iron's hot with this one. Also Ninja Turtles 3 is way better than Secret of the Ooze.
IDK, 42 mm is just too big for a field watch, in my opinion. The khaki king is about as large as is reasonable.. otherwise the huge dial overshadows the rest of the watch and it looks out of balance to me. Otherwise, I really like the "eureka" detail and the font they used on the dial. It does seem over priced though in comparison to other similar Hamilton watches of the type. I'd have to be a huge fan of the movie to be willing to spend that kind of money on it.
Interstellar is an excellent movie. It's not a nerds movie at all, and you should make an effort to see it. The Murphy looks great, but I agree that I wouldn't pay anymore for this watch then I would a Khaki King. Also, I don't believe this is the watch that was used in the movie, as I think it was a Khaki King. I'll have to watch it again. I know TGV did a video on it when the movie first came out. And, I don't think Michelangelo wears a watch.
Oh man, watch Interstellar, one of the best movies of the last decade. It's all about time and the watch is a MAJOR plot device.
Totally agree
Agree on the use of the watch. Anything but a CPD, though--beautifully woven in from the beginning.
That movie was incredible... really. If you havent seen it, GO SEE IT.

"SMURPH" LMAO I LOVE IT 🤣

Yep. I won't pay them a grand when they have similar offerings for 400.
@Hey Guys you can get a sinn 556 used for a grand (and other great watches) i can't justify the hammy for a grand it's definitely overpriced
What are you all moaning about? This model is priced pretty much in line with all other similar Hamilton models!!!

What the fuck is this? Oh!
Killer, intruder, homicidal man
If you see me coming run as fast as you can
Blood-thirsty demon who’s stalking the street
I hack up my victims like pieces of meat
Blood-thirsty demon, sinister fiend
Bludgeonous slaughter’s my evil deed
My hammer’s a cold piece of blood-lethal steel
I grin while you writhe with the pain that I deal
Swinging the hammer, I hack through their heads
Deviant defilers, you’re next to be dead
I unleash my hammer with sadistic intent
Pounding, surrounding, slamming through your head yeah
Bodies convulse in agony and pain
I mangle their face till no features remain
A blade for the butchering, I cut them to shreds
First take out the organs, then cut off the head
The remains of flesh now sop under my feet
One more bloody massacre, the murder’s complete
I seek to dismember, a sadist fiend
Bloodbath’s my way of getting clean
I lurk in the alley wait for the kill
I have no remorse for the blood that I spill
A merciless butcher who lives underground
I’m out to destroy and I will cut you down, cut you down
I see you and I’m waiting for Black Friday
Turn me loose!
Killer, intruder, homicidal man
If you see me coming run as fast as you can
A blood-thirsty demon who’s stalking the street
I hack up my victims like pieces of meat
Blood-thirsty demon, sinister fiend
Bludgeonous slaughter’s my evil deed
A merciless butcher who lives underground
I’m out to destroy you and I will cut you down
It’s Black Friday, paint the devil on the wall
It’s Black Friday, paint the devil on the wall
It’s Black Friday, paint the devil on the wall
It’s Black Friday, paint the devil on the wall
It’s Black Friday, paint the devil on the wall
It’s Black Friday, paint the devil on the wall
It’s Black Friday, paint the devil on the wall
It’s Black Friday, paint the devil on the, devil on the, devil on the wall
Interstellar is an incredible movie!
Interstellar is my favorite movie I've ever seen in theaters. Out of theaters it isn't quite the same experience but still incredible.
Nice looking watch but I prefer the OTHER Interstellar Hamilton (pilot day date)
I'm a fan. I look at as an alternative to the Tudor, Ranger.
You need to watch Interstellar! It really is a great movie.
well Jory, you may hate the watch... but you HAVE to watch Interstellar (btw there are 2 Hamilton watches that appear in that movie) also, you are totally right with the Hodinkee thing... its gonna cost like 5 grand and a sacrificed virgin
I actually like how the watch looks!
Is SINN or Damasko over kill with their in-destructive steel, as opposed to field Hamilton??? Cheerds
You didn’t mention what is different about the Murph.
Interstellar is one of my favorite movies. The soundtrack is mesmerizing (as are most Hans Zimmer scores). And now it has a dedicated watch? The only way it could get better is if there was an option to edit out Matt Daymuuuuhhhnnn.
I really expecting you make a video for Hamilton khaki navy pioneer
Ok Jory, thoughts on the limited edition blue Alpinist being released by Hodinkee...sorry if I make you yell...
I’m already filming this... stay tuned. 🤬😡
The movie is great, I like it ! But is almost 5 years old, kind of weird to come up with the watch on 2019
Sorry Jordy but the only watch for Ninja Turtles has to be a Certina, it’s in their logo for gods sake
here we go again.............Ranting Time !!! lol...lovin it
Just got mine, very dissapointed.
Going with a nonreflective coating on the crystal was a huge disappointment.
EVERY light source reflects off of this thing, and it doesn't have the usual Hamilton weight too it.
It feels like a low level Seiko.
Very dissapointed for the price.😞
Big sci-fi fan, thought the film was slow & over rated (😱) but like the watch...but its a bit big 😂 Cheers! 👍👍
The watch is a grand directly from the site. Wait till it goes gray market
On fire! 👍🏼💪🏻
Forget about the movie, I never watched it. This watch is excellent!
Interstellar is my favorite movie of all time.. and I've seen like a gazillion movies
I'll wait for when it's 400 on the grey market
Hamilton needs to up their WR game. I don't buy 50 meter field watches.
The first Ninja Turtle movie is the best one. Fight me IRL!!!!
Oh ya no one cares about tokka and razar sorry.
this one and pilot watch is the best from hamilton imo, too bad they dont make them 34-39mm
I love mine. I have a 7.5 in. Wrist. I do wish maybe the lug too lug was 49-50m
Time only 42mm?? Why??? I love the look of the watch, but it’s huuuuge
Holy shit. It's huge and expensive! WHY??!?!!??!
Secret of the Ooze!! Yes!!
Uv never seen the Martin!?!?! One of my favorite movies iv seen it 4+ times, come on man u gotta watch it
Why don't they charge 400 and sell thousands of them. I would have bought it.
You're thinking of the pilot day date . The one Cooper wears .
You are correct!!
I'm sure invicta makes a ninja turtle watch.....
