Has anyone else wondered just how bad a situation the commander or pilot could have rescued the shuttle from? The approaches/HAC were mostly controlled by the orbiters computers and seemed to be a piece of cake to land for them. Granted the 10000’s of hours training would have helped 😂 I’ve always wondered just how much of a bad situation would have still been recoverable. Their skills would probably have been more than the shuttle’s structure could have handled.
Done lots of dockings with ISS. Very tedious but interesting. One could also learn about the physics of rocket science. Furthest reach to orbit Jupiter (Time X) Saturn seems to take a life time. Though made VTOL's in Moon and Mars but never succeded to make precision reentry to Earth. Either too shallow or too wide angle. But why is there no proper chute. The addon doesn't work. I counted about 200 things about that re-entry and approach and landing that were WAY wrong!!! Total garbage!!! Just for starters did anyone hear "On at the 180" etc. etc.
In real life space shuttles performed very well 2 exploded only because it's old as made in 1976 crack inside metal sheets not checked or ignored by oversight

So, where is the drogue chute at? No warnings about it malfunctioning. Never deployed for braking which is SOP.

Any landing you can walk away from is a GOOD landing. A GREAT landing is when you can use the plane again!
Where were the drag chutes....never saw one landing without them....
