    Great video. One correction, you inverted the use of the automa cards. First turn, the first card is the support and the second is the action card. Following turns, you discard the support card, the previous action card becomes the current support card, and you draw a new action card, so you actually don't know what the automa will do :)

    This was really good playthrough. I just tried Gaia project at the weekend, so this game is new to me, however based on this video it doesn't look that hard and maybe it will give the satisfaction I need by the end of the game. You did well on maxing out those techs. (I don't like those games where I feel that I just got halfway through and the end of the game comes earlier than desired.)

    I know your material is over 2 years old, but I am very grateful that you made it (as well as all the previous ones about GP in solo mode).
    I am curious about your opinion on the newer child of the Terra Mystica series - Age of Innovations. Have you tried this game?
    If so, what are your feelings vs GP???
    And one last question for you: what do you think about the new GP expansion (The Lost Fleet)???
    If you have tried it, do you think it is worth buying or does it improve something in the basic GP, which is already excellent???
    Thank you if you reply, and if not, I still thank you very much for your videos 😉

    I've played several solo sessions of Gaia Project, and all of them were awesome. I've also been playing around with using the AI with 2 players and working out how to make it a co-op game. It's not much of a stretch since there's an advantage to the human players co-locating, so there's built-in cooperation with the base rules. So far been just approaching it where the 2 humans have to each beat the AI's score in order to "win". Would love to come up with some extra mechanics to make it more co-op'y. In any case, love this game!

    • @OneStopCoopShop

      Oh my goodness I would love to try that!!! Do you change any rules? I could see this being awesome trying to work together!

    • @tteshera
      @tteshera 2 года назад +1

      @@OneStopCoopShop No rules changes yet - just go for good locations to be near each other and hopefully farther from the AI. Use a map setup for 3 players, and have been using random maps. Would like to come up with some rules/mechanics that involve more player interaction. But at the very least, this makes it more "us vs. the AI" which my wife and I prefer vs. direct competitive.

  • @UmouMais
    @UmouMais Год назад +2

    Hi Colin, just a minor rules correction but can make some difference during certain gameplays depending on the final scoring tiles. At 10:00 Transdim planets costs 2 terraform whereas Gaia only cost 1. You can see that on the reference card. In your gameplay those final score tiles didn't ask for Gaia planets, so you were supposed to build on Gaia, black and blue planets first, not transdim. Now if one of those end game score tiles required Gaia planets, then both Gaia and transdim would have preference as tiebreakers over other types of planets, as long as those end game tiebreaker symbols were not X on the card. Hope that made sense to you! 😀

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  Год назад +1

      Thanks my man! Not sure if understand though. Are you saying for the AI it would look at Gaia planets not Transdim for the final scoring tile that I was using because it was 2 to terraform?

    • @UmouMais
      @UmouMais Год назад +2

      @@OneStopCoopShop hi Colin let me try to explain it better.
      1. In your game both final scoring tiles were not to build on Gaia planets. So that's 1 thing
      2. Now you are to build a mine, like in 10:00. 2 range, check. Then 1 tiebreaker is faction (that doesn't apply). Then 2 tiebreaker is final scoring tiles, planet variety, check. 3rd tiebreaker is costs. Black, blue and Gaia costs 1 Terraforming, brown, red and transdim costs 2. In the playthrough you said the AI would look for transdim as well, but that is not true, cause it's more expensive. So you had to eliminate it on that step. Then you continue with tiebreakers...closest to human players and finally directional selection.
      Now, let's suppose you're playing a new game where one of the final scoring tiles is to build on Gaia planets. If you play an AI card that tells you to look at final scoring titles, and the one you have to look at is the Gaia planets, then you would only search for Gaia or transdims (in this case they are the same) that are in range 2. You can skip cost tiebreakers and go for the one that is closest to you, and directional selection in the last case.
      If you play it in the near future, double check the automa rulebook in the "build a mine" section, but not in the ref sheet, cause that one doesn't state all the rules.
      Sorry for being nitpicky, its just that I got GP recently and I'm so enamored with it! Very addicting

    Try as a I might - I can't figure out why you gained 5vp from the Planetary institute upgrade. I figured it would be straightforward in the rule book - i.e. upgrading to a planetary institute yields 5VP. But I can't find any language in there. Can you clarify what effect caused that jump in VP? This was a long time ago, so if you can't clarify that's certainly understandable! Thanks for your videos throughout the years....I still remember you teaching me how to play Spirit Island at the onset of the pandemic! That was my first hobby level boardgame and I haven't looked back since. EDIT - **Ok, I see you got the 5 VP from the round booster - man this game is giving me fits to learn! lol **

      @@OneStopCoopShop I'm kind of weird when it comes to theme. If I'm unsure of a game (or it's not something I normally go for), I tend to be pickier on the theme. Space is a theme I like, I play a lot of Arkham Horror (but I don't know if there are any horror-based euros), and I'm also a huge Final Fantasy nerd, but I doubt you'd find any fantasy-based euros. Still, open to suggestions.

      Dwellings of Eldervale is a great one that is fantasy! Has a great solo too. Castles of Burgandy is another euro that I think is a solid place to start. If you enjoy space, Pulsar 2486 is another one that is good! Hope that helps!

    • @dirks9816
      @dirks9816 2 года назад +1

      @@PhoenixKnight08 If you're a Final Fantasy nerd, you should take a look at Middara, altough its not an euro but a dungeon crawler. Gloomhaven is in the fantasy genre and i would classify it as an "euro dungeon crawler" but you could argue over that. In the space genre, i would suggest "Circadians - First light" as an euro with quite a bit of flavor.
