  • This run starts at Bartlett Dam Road and FR413. Coordinates:
33.84882574307451, -111.78640268653537 It travels south on FR413 to the Verde River. You can make this an out and back trail or point to point as the end of the trail connects with Needlerock road on the South end.
Sand and gravel wash the entire way. This is a very easy trail.

Yeah, it was a fun trip. Definitely looks like the water can rip through there when it wants to.

Todd Todd Todd! I started on Gaia and found this trail, did a search on YT and you show up:-) Is there anywhere you haven't been? Love the vid, I couldn't get a read on the trail from the maps so really wanted to know if it was a safe route. Gaia says the decent is about 1,400 feet. Would it be a challenge to do it in reverse (verde to Bartlett). Also, with the sand and gravel was it mostly a soft ride?

It is a really easy trail. Mostly sand.
However, I believe the road leading to the trail is closed and the lower end is also closed right now due to the water release from the dam on the river. It is all flooded.

@@Trail89Adventures Thank you for that! Do you have any suggestions for how to learn about trail closures? I'm going crazy trying to find this info. Google searches list a lot of old links, and Maricopa Parks pages often omit the year in their dates, so I don't know if they're old or new. I'm obviously missing the obvious. Would you be kind enough to clue me in? Thx.

@@independent900 the National Forest Service is really good about publishing closures. Best place I have found is following each National Forest on Facebook. They publish them there as well. Tonto National Forest is the one I am in the most and they do a good job publishing into to FB. That is where I got the information about the closures around the Verde River and Bartlett Lake.
