    Great video! Here's a fun proverb from Sweden: "There is no cow on the ice." Meaning: it's ok, there's no reason to panic.

      So interesting! So no cows in cold places? ;)

    • @PerKraulis
      @PerKraulis 4 года назад +17

      @@inevitaly it's a fun saying, but with a serious background: it's about cows going out on the ice of the lake, which would be very dangerous. A cow falling through the ice would be impossible to save. Cows being essential for a farmer's family to survive the winter, in the old days.

They discovered noodles from China, removed the dog and created pasta. They stole the idea of arches from the Etruscans and built coliseums and aqueducts. This is from my father in Milano dialect really appropriate with modern obsession for healthy life:
    A var minga la pëna de scampá de malà per murí san, literally “it’s not worth living as a sick so that you can die healthy” need an explanation?
    Another one from the same source in the same language, it’s about human behaviour, I used to tell that to my subordinates at the office,
    “Leh la consolasiön del dromedary quant l’ha vist al camel” literally “ it’s the consolation of the dromedary 🐪(1 hump) when he saw the camel 🐫 (2 humps)
    To say don’t get comfortable in your problems by looking at other’s worse than yours, or also don’t justify you failures by pointing at others worse than yours

Ciao.

    A few years ago, I learned that in German, "I have small apples to peel with you," is their version of "I have a bone to pick with you." I never got the meaning of the phrase until that comparison. We use it as "I'm irked at you and I want to tell you why (to give you a piece of my mind!)." And doing a menial task together provides an opportunity to hash it out.

    I just found this channel today. (I'm in USA) I just want to say this is a great channel and I'm thankful I found it. These videos are hilarious and are making learning Italian easy and fun. God bless you.

    It is so good to see you again! I hope you both are faring well and that your family members are okay!
    My father was German. When he was a little boy and would complain that he didn't know what to wear, his mother would say, "Du kannst deinen Arsch blau streichen." [you may paint your bottom blue].

    I only missed 1-1/2 LOL Didn't get the dirty laundry (but I did get it to keep it in the family!) - didn't get the "licking" one either .. BUT, that's not too bad! Ciao belli! This was fun

    I loved this!!! Especially the last proverb!
    Also, as a nonbinary Italian speaker, I wouldn't mind a video on Italian pronouns... haha, just kidding... unless...
