Congratulations! I have loved my HIbino all year, and will forgo my Cousin (for the last five years) in its favor for 2024. The Midori Hibino uses Sanzen Tomoe River paper. Your Hobonichi 5-year likely has the "old" Tomoe River Paper. Hobonichi is shifting towards Sanzen Tomoe River in most of its 2024 planners, until their supply runs out. Personally, I love the Hibino's tiny 2.5 mm grid. It kind of dissolves into the background, so I can use it for large or small writing. If I recall correctly, Hobonichi grid sizes differ for the Weeks (3.55 mm), Original, Cousin, and 5 Year (3.7 mm), and English Planner (4 mm). Personally, cream paper feels warmer and softer on my eyes, so I am happy about that as well. The Hibino is similar in shade to the Weeks paper, except it looks a tad warmer to my eye. I love that there are no extraneous pages that just sit there not doing anything. Only the pages I need, and nothing else. Enjoy!
I bought one - and I think it's too small and cramped for planning, but I plan to use it as a daily journal. I just know I can't comfortably work all day from such a tiny book. It's so cute though!
I think this is where those transfer type stickers and P.E.T. stickers will help keep down the chunkiness because those are thinner materials. Plus using stamps. I’m not going to really mind if she gets more thick though. This will be my first Japanese planner/journal so I am looking forward to the experience!
I think your plan for pen only, no deco is a good one. As for writing, maybe try writing across two lines instead of trying to stick to one. And for the blank page, you can always go up to three lines depending on how much you want to write.
Hi, how did the paper test with fountain pen inks? I watched a video of someone testing it out and they said it feathered a bit. But I think that was either a 2022 or 2023. Would be a great help as I’m a bit confused on what to get for next year. I’m sure there are those who are also curious. Thank you in advance!
I used my Ferris Wheel ink on a test page in the back and didn’t notice feathering but I also love when pages get crinkly. I think if there was a heavy amount of ink it might be noticeable
OK I had to pause the vid mere seconds in to excitedly write that I ordered this YESTERDAY August 1…today is August 2 and I saw my notifications that this seafoam green lovely will be in my hands on AUGUST 6, WHAT!!!😅😭🥹💖 they are sooo beautiful!
HI! Thanks for this. How thick is this compared to the Midori 1 day a page, would you know? I have a lovely cover for that one, which I would love to reuse if i switch to this!
I actually found it and also ordered a Moterm cover, fingers crossed it fits. They didn’t have the beautiful blue in the planner so I got the camel, I love them both so that helped with making the decision 😂
I ordered mine from Amazon Japan a couple of days ago. I ordered the brown but now im debating if i should have ordered the blue instead! I might have to make another order. 🤦♀️ I definately think I would stick to washi stickers or rub-on stickers, if anything, in this chunky monkey.
The grid is small but I will use two or three grid lines to write instead of trying to write between one grid line. That my help others to know you that. That’s why grids are awesome, you can choose how big or small to write! Hope that helps!🫰💖

I ordered from Amazon Japan to the UK and it arrived in less than a week! Very impressed. It’s such a cute little book 🥰

Omg I didn’t even think about stamps 😍
I also just ordered a ton of the MU rub ons to keep down the bulk
Great idea!!
Thank you for the heads up before I missed it again this year 😂 just ordered on Amazon Japan!
The bloom cover works perfectly with the habino. I have mine in the Hobonichi bloom cover👍
I finally found a place where I could order one. I am so excited for it to arrive. LOVE!!!🥰🥰🥰
i am so excited🎉 waiting for mine. Thank you for this video🧡
Which one did you go with? Do you know what you’re going to use it for? So many ideas!
@@SarahSteckler still thinking about what i’m going to write🙈 i ordered camel one🤎

Ooo what a great idea! I never even considered that. Thank you!
Fyi It comes in A5 too. I love your video. 😊
Thanks for sharing! This solidified for me that I want one 😂 but the pre orders are sold out already. Hopefully, I can get one on restock.
If you suddenly decide you don't want the blue one I'd be willing to buy it haha 😂
These are stunning
Now if only I could find a way to use both lol
I really really want to try one but I’m afraid of the grid. But I want to buy one. I think I’m going to treat myself with a pre-order!
The grid is difficult to cope with. I have to use two lines as one to write on.
Midori is a 2.5mm grid and Hobonichi is 5mm grid I ordered the Camel hoping it will arrive soon ❤❤❤
Thank you for the info! Excited for you to get yours!
Hobinichi is actually 3.7mm grid from memory.
@@keiralee yes your right I re-checked it it is 3.7mm I won’t change my original answer but yes you are correct 👍 it is 3.7mm thank you
@@SarahSteckler I was wrong im Hobonichi is 3.7mm
These grid sizes get confusing. Just saw on a Yoseka video that the A6 Techo Planner/English is actually different as well with 4mm grid.

I’m not sure! This is the only Midori I have so far
Can someone share a link to order this please. Still a newbie so I always appreciate links. Tia

The Stationary Selection is selling them! thestationeryselection.com/products/midori-hibino-2-pages-per-day-diary-2024
@@SarahStecklerI checked this link and they don’t have the Hibino.

Thanks for the content. Not very many people review Midori. Just subbed. Good luck growing your channel.
Where can we order in the US?
I pre-ordered mine through Amazon Japan. You might be able to find a reseller on Etsy
Hi! How do you search it on Amazon Japan? I can’t read Hiragana, Katakana, nor Kanji and when I typed in English nothing popped out. 😭

@@Mizuki.Wolf. Sorry I just read your comment today. Thank you so much! :)
Is the brown one a little wider?
They are both the exact same size :)
