Being able to be confident enough to take your shot and take it like a champ is absolutely respectable. Far too many people miss their shot for that reason, they fail to take the opportunity and now it's gone forever.
Especially in Japan with its birth problem, I feel that's an issue with failing rates. So imo, props to this king for giving it a shot and ultimately taking the rejection like a man.

@@Xaito True that you can't generalize, but hitting people on the street or public space where they don't want to be disturbed or in a hurry like supermarket or bank, you either have to be really lucky, in the right time and moment. If not then you have to play with quantity, but that would cause more problem to your target. It's easier just to know new people in a community these days.
