I started investing at age 48 after watching Damian's video 5 times 😂 now I am a subscriber and watch all of them. I think a large part of your success is because of your personality, you are likeable and funny and seem very down to earth and genuine. It's like getting financially clued up by a smart friend. I really enjoyed this, great job ! I've watched a lot of Damo's videos but it was interesting to see him "au naturel", without a script or bad jokes :) Very interesting conversation. I definitely empathise with the lonely thing at the beginning. I retired a few years ago, and while I wouldn't describe it as "lonely" exactly I definitely miss the buzz of the office even if some of the people I worked with were horrible. Having said that I wouldn't go back for a million quid ;) Best of luck to you both.
Yeah it was nice to have a natural chat, we spend so long scripting and planning videos it was a nice change. Yeah retirement is a tough one for so many, change of pace. Maybe you can find a way of getting back the buzz without the work?
Learning about Damien's story was very interesting. I very fortunately skipped the over-confident post uni stage from going on Reddit a lot and generally not being someone who throws on big bets, so I skipped right to investing in funds with shares in some companies for fun.
I've been watching Damien for months now, today my house sale went through. I've paid off my high interest credit cards and all other debt ( dave ramsey style ). Literally the first thing I did after tthat was open a vanguard ISA. I put £1000 into the life strategy 100 plus a £400 monthly direct debit, then I added £5000 within the same isa nominated to the VWRL global fund. I have no idea if I've done the right thing but I do know it's better than sitting in the bank where its guaranteed to do nothing. I'd never have even thought do give this a shot without watching Damian. Totally impressed with the content and one day I hope to figure out what the 'carol' thing is all about 🤣🤣.

I think the point about not having money growing up as a driving force for many entrepreneur's / investors is fundamental. Also went to uni to study business, as it was the only subject I was mildy interested in, but RUclips has taught me more in 1 year than a 3 year degree / school.

I'm on YT to post my videos of musicians to show how wonderful the live music world is even at a local under-the-radar level and I mainly watch music and Spanish language videos, so I really don't how you appeared in my YT algorithms. My Dad sucessfully traded in the stock market in the 80s using a stock broker and I thought that was the only way. I'd never heard of Vanguard or why they were relevant or how the internet of things has simplified and further reduced the cost of investing. Since watching your videos i realise that there is another side to investing re passive funds etc. for the average not-money-savvy Joe. Why dont they teach you about money management at school not just bloody maths?! Money as a subject has never interested me and I felt I had zero ability re maximising it but your videos have given help to financial numpties everywhere. The fact you both make your videos entertaining is probably the reason my interest has been piqued. Damien you can always reduce the number of jokes if it's so time-consuming and stressful!
I love Damien’s channel. Great in depth content mixed with humour, a rare mix in the finance world - my favourite was the theme of falling soundproofing foam that kept on reoccurring throughout the video. The music in most of his vids is pretty spot on too, in general he just keeps getting better. Liking the long term vision, don’t burn out too quickly!

Hey Damo, The opposite can also be true. My parents are the second generation of successful entrepreneurs in our family. I grew up hearing/worrying about how things were tight and also feel I have a lot to live up to. The unspoken competition to do as well as or better than your parents is there forever.
