Well your in luck because in this video I share my experience with my 2022 target orientation, as well as some tips on what I think increased my chances of being hired! ❗️SOME APPLICATION TIPS❗️
( I didn’t mention a lot about applying to target in the video so I hope some of the tips below are helpful!)
- KEEP YOUR AVAILABILITY OPEN ( don’t put your preferred availability on the application, put down every Single day and time that you’re willing to work)
- BE WILLING TO WORK MULTIPLE DIFFERENT POSITIONS! And list this on your application
- ALWAYS ATTACH YOUR RESUME

@Joanna Andrea Hey! I know a couple of my co-workers are seasonal, they just work on their breaks from school, so I believe so! But it still depends on your location and they're need for different availabilities.
@Joanna Andrea at least for my Target they have this thing called an academic leave where you’re not scheduled to work but can pick up shifts whenever you want. It’s great honestly it helped a lot when I was in school and needed some extra cash. But again I’m assuming this depends on the location

You’re right about the multiple applying. Last week I applied to 4 Target stores within 5-10 miles around my area and heard back from 2. Go to my orientation tomorrow for one of them. Hopefully I get a goody bag like you lol

How soon after the interview you heard back?
Love that your doing a detox from social media and from sweets. That is so awesome. I just applied at target myself. I did the interview and called today to find out the status of my application and the lady from HR said she was sending my information to the team lead and that I would hear something this week. So fingers crossed but it sounded promising.

It was crazy hearing you had to apply to so many! The first time I got a job it was Target and the only one I applied to hired me. Then the SECOND time I applied to Target the same thing happened
@Zach it was 5-6 days for me
It all depends on if they are desperate for workers at that time or not so yeah you get hired immediately if they are short staffed or you go on the waiting list & keep applying to others randomly if they are not, until you get one who needs you, that’s how target works they are a multi billion dollar company we are crumbs to them unfortunately

How long did your orientation last? And when you go for you’re orientation what do you tell the workers? Like that you’re here for an orientation or what?
I also applied a while ago at the closest target to me and they didn’t consider me but I just just got hired for that same position after I re applied!

I've already did my background check yesterday so now I'm one step closer of getting a Job at Target in my Area ,I'm Excited, Luckily hopefully Monday I can get some updates
hey guys! current target employee, not to take away from the video or your excitement but working a target is not as nice as it seems. They overwork you, stress you out, short staffed/bad scheduling, and they aren't open to listening to improvements. Personally my management isn't the best but the friend you make working there will help you want to go to work without them you'd be burnt out and on the verge of quitting. However not all targets are the same so hopefully you guys have better experiences.
Do they make you work on place you did not apply for ? I got hired and I’m scared they will put me in retail bc I have a learning disorder and I put it in my résumé

Swear I got turned down from the same target over 5 times…now my orientation is today😭I’m excited I remember this was the first place I’ve always wanted to work at because it seemed like a good and chill environment it’s way less crowded then Walmart and food lion

I got lucky. I applied to 1 target (my go-to target that’s 5mins away from my house) and 3 days later got hired, my orientation is in 2 days. I’m so nervous/excited. Watching your video has helped ease my nerves. 🥹

I applied to target 3 times. They declined me twice and I landed a interview with one 💀 the first 2 times I had no experience and my third time I have a year of retail with walmart experience 😄. I also provided them screenshots of positive customer reviews I got 🌝. Then I told them how I’m emt CPR certified 😩. If I don’t land this job ima BE PISSED.
My orientation is this Thursday, I hope it goes well for me 😭❤️

i got hired the day of my interview and had my orientation 2 days later (today). it was scary and i kind of wish i didn’t accept the job😂. it sounds very stressful and so organized and i’m not sure i can do every little thing they’re asking

I applied to one bc I only have 1 near me and I got hired!! I'm only 16 and I've worked at eldridge park for 2 years which involves cashier in gift shop and cafe and also team work anyways now im just waiting for the hiring manager to call me to set up an orientation date!

Once you’re accepted they’ll email you and within the linked website there will be a file telling you what to bring for acceptable documents. There’s three different classes, a, b, and c. And for my store you needed either one document from A, or two documents (one being from B and C) if you didn’t have any A documents.
i was really lucky with my hiring process and was quickly contacted, but it doesn’t hurt to apply multiple times or even call in to see if they have gotten your application!
i also had the same bad luck before my orientation, my passport ended up being expired 💀 just check everything the week and day before. anything can happen so just be organized and communicative.
Interview tips: Do the practice questions.
Use your first chance to talk about what first comes to mind for that question. Then watch it back and make notes about what you want to mention and what you liked about what you said first.
For the second try I would read from my notes, in the video explaining how the interview online works they said they don’t mind if you’re looking elsewhere (i’d say just don’t look down. you want to look confident and like you know what you’re doing) so i’d set my phone up at my computer.
And I’d always use my third attempt. If need more time to prepare yourself, you can always pause your video while watching the first or second attempt to gather your thoughts.
again, i was super lucky. i only applied to one location, one time, and was hired basically within 1-2 weeks. (with very little experience)(also depends on what role you’re applying for) just be confident with yourself!!! focus on talking about how you worked as a team and how you work with others to help them!

I applied 5 days ago.. I did the interview 2 days ago and this morning I received a call from Target but I missed :( They send me a email for a time to call me back regarding the application and I responded. I’m still waiting :(( I hope can I get in touch soon with good news.

omg you gave me support… I applied at the same time as my boyfriend and he was hired and I was about to break up with him…. Just because 😅but I remembered that he has like 7 years in customer service experience and this parasite (ME )was only 1 year haha and I was frustrated because I had a degree in public relations but I thought why I'm going to upload those documents ( mistake) haha !!!!thank you so much I appreciate I feel better I’ll be prepared for the next time ❤

You can just call up there and ask to speak to someone HR, they’ll give you the time!

girl i know this is late but i applied to target and the next day i got a Hirevue job interview, they called me the next day asking me more questions and asked if i could come in for orientation. i haven’t received any emails from them since

I have a question so i got hired at target, i submitted an online application and then they sent me a virtual interview and they sent me an email saying they want to hire me, would i have to redo that interview over again? Also can i change availability because i would like to change my schedule once i get to work.
Hello love! So in my experience, after I got that email saying they were extending me the job offer, I never had to do an interview again. I just had to upload documents so that they could finalize the process. As far as your availability, you won’t be allowed to change it for the first 90 days after your hired. At least that’s what my store told me.

I got emailed for a virtual interview!! Quick question. So if I have something important like a day I need off like say June 28 (I take my NREMT to become EMT certified) Do I tell them that when hired or like how do they schedule you? Do they reask for availability
Hey love! Okay so once your hired, I would email/call your HR as soon as you get the congratulations email letting them know that you have a previous obligation that you scheduled for that day before you got hired. I say this because once your hired, your schedule will already be premade for the next three weeks so you won’t be able to request that day off. They should be understanding. A girl at my orientation had the same issue and she let them know the day of orientation and they were able to move some things around for her cause they appreciated that she let them know asap! As far as changing your availability, they won’t let you do that until your 90 day probation period is up. Hope that helped!❤️❤️

for my orientation, i have to abide by their dress code so i guess it varies from store to store
I applied two days ago and the next day I got an email saying congrats to do the interview online and so I did that yesterday and I just got a call from them today! She just said to go on Monday for a meet and greet? What does she mean by that can you help because I just want to be prepared.
After the online interview did you get a congratulations email with your job offer attached? If so, the meet and greet us most likely your orientation. If they didn’t offer you the job yet, they could have additional questions. Hope that helped!❤️

I would request days off after your orientation, or you can even mention it at your orientation. But ofc that’s ultimately up to you!

How long after your interview for them to contact you?
For us men, polos work wonderful for interviews and orientation. For the women, dress shirts like she has at 7:17 should be fine for orientation day alongside jeans. For interviews I'd switch it to khakis or slacks for men and women. I figured I'd share my advice and guidance for any new teenager or young adult who is wanting their first job. For those disabled and such I'd see about working with your local or state Voc Rehab like I did.

I have a quick question? So I did the whole process of the application, attached my resume and did the online interview. I did recieve a call from my local target BUT I was not able to answer. Is their a possibility they may call me back or do I have to call explaining why I was not able to answer when my local target was trying to call me. I’m a bit nervous that I missed my opportunity. Should I call back?
I definitely would call back and ask to speak to the hiring department explaining that you missed a call from then. There’s a chance they’ll give you a second call but I would just be proactive about it just in case!

they should’ve told you your first day on the call no? they asked me “so just to confirm, you’re good with general merchandise? $__ an hour” and “your first day is on april 20” or whatever
