    Johaug is just amazing!

Not surprising that she won, but I did not think she would win with such a big margin.

I feel sorry for Kalla. She has not made much progress at all over the years. This year though she has improved her double pole technique, but besides that she is very much the same skier as in 2008 or 2009. In 2010 she still had the best skating technique, but other skiers, especially Johaug, have improved a lot.
I don't think that Heidi Weng is more talented then Kalla, but she has a better training regime since she is training with Björgen, Johaug etc.

Hi SportsHDProductions2, thank you for your great service.
I have a request, if possible: can you post the moment when Therese broke out and left Justyna behind? In my country this moment has not been covered by TV, blame on them!

Most likely Johaug, Björgen and probably Heidi Weng will continue to improve; perhaps Steira as well if she becomes more muscular (but she is getting older). I think Kalla is eager to improve too.
I dont think Kowalczyk will improve because she has indicated that she is starting to lose her motivation; "it's hard to be number two all the time". I doubt that she can improve physically speaking and I suspect that she is unwilling to seriously deal with her dubious technique, especially freestyle.

Where is medal to Kowalczyk? She has more than Therese, Individual Gold on Olympic Games + 4 Tour de Ski titles + 4 WORLD CUPS. Looks like Norwegian praise only themselves lol

I think it was ~500 m left-- she would have won with 80-90 seconds to spare...And she was taking it a bit easy on the last lap.

Then there are up and coming skiers like Emma Wikén and a bunch of other norwegians and russians (tzekaleva etc.) that will probably improve until next year.

She does have pretty good technique in diagonal stride, but her double-poling technique is not good compared to the best.

Cont. The problem with K. classic technique is that she is not leaning forward as much as the others and her head is almost upright. This means that much energy is wasted and it wears her out even in a skiathlon, so that she is too tired to compensate for that in the freestyle. To avoid disasters the tracks must be really hard and firm or she won't get good grip and will quickly fall behind. If the skis are less than perfect she has no chance to get to the top ten. She MUST work on this.

Yes, I'm amazed that Justyna can do pretty good races sometimes in freestyle. But that is only due to her extremely high level of fitness. If she had the same technique as Johaug or Kalla she would win almost every freestyle races.

That is a typical example. She is turning her upper body and has bad flow. She also has a tendency to stomp, especially in a sprint.

Kowalczyk's technique is still very bad and has not improved much (if at all) over the years. The fact that she can win is because of her incredible level of fitness and strong will. In classic her technique is not so bad though and that really shows in the results.
I doubt if there's a single female athlete with a stronger will than Kowalczyk. I think she beats Marit and Therese in that aspect.

    Continued.
I think it's very embarrasing for Kalla and her coach that they did not know better. I mean, how is K. supposed to keep up with those who are more fit? Someone on Facebook said K. was "clueless". I won't go that far but she really has to pinpoint her weaknesses and deal with them. If you look at the 2nd stage of Tour de ski, she is much the same as 3-4 years ago. She has a poor classic technique.

Kalla had very good skis this time, but it's clear that she has stagnated. She has lost her advantage of having the best skating technique and is too slow. 3-4 years ago she was much better than Johaug in some ways, but now it's completely different. I've heard that K. trains about 825 hrs per year and Björgen+ Johaug 925 hrs. Kalla discovered this last summer during a camp with the Norwegians.

I'm sorry but her technique is terrible. If I look at any, say, 16 years old, at a cross country ski club that has skied for at least 2 years, I haven't found 1 so far that has worse technique than Kowalczyk in freestyle.
I understand that you are not a skier yourself so this must be hard to understand. But Kowalczyk's technique is full of flaws. For starters she wastes a ton of energy by leaning to one side and she has no flow whatsoever.
