In all the years of horse racing that I have watched I never heard analysis I was so spot on until now. No hatred just spot on analysis that was on the mark. No lies were told.
We'll see tomorrow. Do I think he'll win? No. Sadly no. But, I'm actually now rooting for COT in the BCC simply because the trainer and owner are taking a gritty risk in moving this grass superstar to a surface that he's NOT bred for- to see what he can do vs the best horses in the world on a completely unknown surface (aside from his limited training on dirt).. Owner and trainer are giving back to the sport by giving the public something interesting to root for/root against/watch. However you look at it, whether you think or want him to win or lose, this is nothing but good for the horse racing fans. Love it! ❤
if Aiden Obrien feels that city of troy is ready for the breeders cup that is good enough for me he is a world class trainer he knows more than spectators even if he doesent win it wont take away from what he has accomplished
I remember when Aiden O'Brien first came into racing in 1996 and I've seen it all with him and if he says this is the best horse the ever had believe him he's not a liar and that's a massive thing for him to say considering all the great horses he had on the flat starting with rock of Gibraltar and the list is endless with him. I'm on from day dot one.win or loose I'm still glad he attempted it. And if he pulls it off he goes in our racing history books as the greatest trainer there ever was in Europe. And may he in the world lol
She really doesn’t like City Of Troy and fair play to her for being so honest she could end up with egg on her face I really want him to win but at 7/4 he is to short
I admire her honesty. I’d love to see COT win but history tells me he probably won’t. There seems to be a lot of confidence for him in the market though & it’s been relentless.
Their main basis of running him is that his father was a Triple Crown winner so he must be able to go on dirt, is rather floored - on ratings he isn't anywhere close to being Aidan's best horse either. European horses (outside of sprinters) are rarely trained to break fast from the stalls (they are trained to not get upset in them) whereas the US horses are and even an average starter in the US will likely be much quicker than COT on his best day. To me if COT gets out of the stalls in front, then the US jockeys have made a right mess of things. If COT were to get the lead from the start, I highly doubt the others will just sit and let Ryan dictate his own fractions and ride them all to sleep - if he misses the break (which is the most likely scenario) then we will likely know very quickly whether he will face the kickback or not. I do also worry about his marked tendancy to hang right under pressure and that could also cost him if he does happen to be in the mix at the business end of the race - its a watching race for me as his price is quite frankly idiotic and based purely on his turf form which is pretty much irrelevant when racing on dirt for the first time. Personally I think he would be doing well to get in the first three
Fairplay to you Sir!🫡 You CLEARLY know your racing and I am a casual follower of horse racing in the U.K and this was my first viewing of the Breeders cup and I didn’t know that they raced😮 both on dirt and turf! I have obviously seen City of Troy a lot this past few years and thus I was interested in checking out what all the fuss was about this “Breeders Cup”. This fact alone shows what they tried to do is great for the sport attracting interest across the world. I was however perplexed as to why O’Brien was even trying this with COT? I don’t understand why if he wants to win so badly on dirt well then breed and train a horse for solely dirt surely?? I don’t understand why he didn’t run COT in one of the turf races???? I have also learnt that there are a lot of “experts”🙄 on racing in the RUclips comment sections but your comment here is clearly pre-race and is absolutely spot on. Your words were exactly what I witnessed from COT yesterday out of the gates/stalls. Probably a great start for him but as you point out he is not conditioned to fire out like even U.K sprint horses are let alone U.S. specialists. They absolutely left him for dead which was probably strange to the horse but considering the gap they had opened up before the first bend even, I think he did pretty well to finish where he did considering he had kickback for the entire way. Why not win a breeders cup title on turf instead though?? Is it maybe not as prestigious?
@@garethtaylor1470 Thanks for the kind words, to be fair quite a lot of people elsewhere highlighted all the same things I did and that the result we got was the most likely outcome. Coolmore (the owners) I feel wanted to do something different with him to make him stand out as a more attractive stallion prospect to the US market, a Derby/Eclipse/Juddmonte winner on turf that also won the Breeders Cup Classic on dirt would look real enticing on his stud book. They probably felt it was the better option as the tight US turf course with its short run in likely wouldn't have suited his racing style as he doesn't have push button acceleration but winds it up and maintains a powerful gallop - also the upside was they could always blame the surface if (as he did) he blew out in the Classic.....a shot to nothing where the gains far outweigh the losses. The interesting thing to note is that the winners (also owned by Coolmore) was right upsides COT at the start of the back straight so its not as if you could say he was in an impossible position to win from........it was clearly just a horse that couldn't copy with the alien conditions he was facing.
As i believed he would and Rachel 100% stated City Of Troy was never a dirt horse and when the stalls opened his wheels spun and he went no where fast on the dirt.
She is sadly so negative. One race, incredible pressure. If he raced at 4 he could be anything but it is now one race. Gut feeling this might suit him 🤞🤞🤞
City of Troy in all probability is the most likely winner. Coolmore need their next generation of super star breeding stallion and CoT has been talked up to fulfill this role since he first came to the track as a very special 2 year old. Save for the 2000 Guineas he's achieved all the goals Aiden and Coolmore have set him as a 3 year old on turf so far. Being by Justify it was always the plan from the beginning to end his racing career with a win on dirt in the Breeders Cup. I think we'll witness history in the making and the successful execution of a very ambitious plan 2+ years in the making.
She clearly doesn't want him to win for whatever reason. He probably won't but most people say they want him to win but can't back him. Rachel seems to be offended by the horse for whatever reason
What a remarkable question. "Why are they racing Sierra Leone?" They own him, like you said. Him racing gives them two chances to win. A grade one winner already in Sierra Leone would be a massive win for the brand, were he to win the classic.
I could agree with a lot of her points up to the very end where she implied that Mendelssohn was a better horse. He was more proven on dirt to be sure but I reckon connections know that City of Troy is a much more talented individual.
City of troy is a 1 1/2 mile horse but has the class to win at 1 1/4.Got outpaced in the 2000 .Showed himself in the Derby and from there all staying on battles .Will be outpaced

It must be remembered City of Troy has already defeated 4 year old horses already in Al Riffa which was considered a likely Prix De L'Arc winner so do not look at COT as only a 3 yr old running against older horses for he has done such with credit do not let the turf to dirt deter anyone as both his grandfather Seattle Slew and father Justify have shown dirt is their forte end of story
