I really enjoyed your history of the Yigdal tune. As a Christian who is very familiar with the hymn "The God of Abraham Praise", it was nice to learn about the origin of the melody and how the tune came into Christian hymnals. This tune is one of my favorite hymn tunes.
Thank you for sharing that! I went a listened to a bit of a choral arrangement of the hymn and was able to pick of some of the adaptation. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it. Let me know what you think of my sing-along, if you get a chance to watch it.
I'm astonished at how interesting the history of this liturgical chant is. As someone who received an after-school education in Judaism , I was simply taught to memorize Hebrew prayers, not to understand their meaning.
They do! I don't know that they'll have the SPECIFIC type of observance or background you're looking for, but I know there is at least one community there, much of it within Southwest Calgary. I might start by trying to query someone at the Calgary JCC for ideas of where to go - www.jewishcalgary.org/our-community
Hey Robert, It seems like you might be watching on a tablet or phone. RUclips keeps changing where the descriptions are, so from the time that this video was made (back when annotations were a thing on RUclips) and now, a lot has changed. Unfortunately, no one chasm know what changes will come over time, so creators just make videos that best match the features available at the time.
Hey Robert, Thanks for your comments. The great thing about RUclips and other on-demand video is that you can watch as many times as you like. Turn on the closed captions (where the button is depends on the device you're using to watch), and give this a few runs through Then check out the sing-along. Thanks for checking out my videos! I haven't made anything new in a couple of years, but if enough demand builds for it, I may restart.

Love the way you sing it! It always sounded like a funeral dirge in my shul.
Oh, thanks! That's so nice of you. Sometimes all you need to do is pick up the pace a little. Did you check out the sing-along?

Can you create a playlist for each of the three services? I am in the process getting better (ashkenazi) but would appreciate deeply😊
With new videos? It'll be a bit slow to happen, but one day I'll get there.
Thus far, I have Adon Olam and Yigdal. Plus some Kabbalat Shabbat stuff.
CC player where?
Link below, what link where; sing along with words, what words where.

You’re singing this way too fast for anyone to learn this.
