Yo, just so you know this company was founded by a guy who has ripped people off with multiple fake companies in the pasts. Takes money on preorders for a product that doesn't exist. Could be real but very good chance this phone is a fake product.
Those who grew up with smartphones seem to have a hard time understanding what the term "dumb phone" means (perhaps because they never owned one). A "dumb phone" (a.k.a "feature phone"), by definition, has no means of connecting to the internet. It has neither a Wi-Fi card to connect to a router nor a data chip that can download LTE data from a cell-phone tower. It can send and receive voice calls and texts...period. Back in the day, they utterly amazed us by doing nothing more than that. An "intentional phone" is not a "dumbphone." It is a device that has the ability to connect to the internet for predetermined purposes of productivity without becoming a gaping trapdoor that causes you to fall into the Wasteland of Lost Souls where you live out the rest of your life as a doom-scrolling zombie. The phone in question is one of several intentional phones/semi-smart phones. It's not a "dumb phone" by any stretch of the imagination.
@@SpencerScottPugh thank you for the quick reply!! The e ink thing is an issue for me so I have ordered a Unihertz Titan pocket phone . This brand replicates Blackberries designs so let's see how I get on with it!! :)
The thing that might make me get this is the NFC with the ability to use google pay. That was the one thing I was worried about because I hate carrying a wallet around.
I feel like you should get into the technicalities of the devices you're talking about. Why something is good or bad, technically, is and should be a large part of how you score a device ultimately. Is having a MediaTek G99 going to matter in this context, if not, why. If so, why.
Thanks for this feedback. No one really gives me any lol. So, I agree with you to some extent, however, I want these reviews and discussions to help the average consumer. Someone who wants a product because of how the experience of using that device can help make their lives more manageable (or not!). I intentionally stay away from the technical because most people just want to know if the thing works for them or not, not what kinda processor it's boasting. Does that make sense? That's how I approach tech, myself, and I aim to provide insights into the experience of new tech for viewers. Most technical info can be found on the manufactures website! Thank you again. I'm sure there could def be some middle ground here if more people want more of the technical side.
I was trying to find more information on this thing as well and found this on the company's own channel ruclips.net/video/4tu71lDGjd4/видео.htmlsi=QxBAZ9dwefdOU-ij&t=109
Thanks for this video! Honestly I don't want the full android access. And in my opinion it is a little bit wired that there is no physical prototype... I mean: first delivery Oktober 2024 and there is only an animation demonstration??? I've already ordered the light phone 3 and I will keep an eye on this device, when there will exists the first reviews 🙌🏼👌🏼
Thanks for the comment! Good point about prototype… though I haven’t really looked to see if the company has made any videos showcasing the product online anywhere 🤔
@@SpencerScottPugh unfortunately yeah, probably didn't market it enough. it was never officially sold outside of China by Hisense which is a bummer, it might have done well if they had pushed it.
I couldn't get myself to use the lightphone2. Lack of WhatsApp was a deal breaker...this one looks GOOD. But I also know kickstarters mostly release uncooked products. So I'll sell my LP2 and just wait for the reviews on this one
Great video! Really interested in this product. Seems like a great option, I also love that you can get photo messages and that you can have access to email. I’ve dumbed my iPhone down a ton (thanks to some of the tips in your videos) so I don’t have email on it but when I need it for tickets or something random, it’s nice to have the option to download it. My one thing with all of these minimal phones is i haven’t seen one that allows for Wi-Fi calling. As someone who uses Mint mobile our house is a dead zone without Wi-Fi calling so that’s a must for me.
I'm desperate for a physical keyboard option on the phone market whilst being able to use current apps so this is ALMOST perfect. I can live with a low quality camera and just take a pocket sized digital camera to gigs or on holiday. However, without a colour screen theres no way I could buy it 😪😪
Well be surprised if this makes it and the Kickstarter is fufilled. The tram running it has a history of failed/withdrawn projects and vague credentials. Who knows though!
@@SpencerScottPugh yeah! A few Reddit posts out there about their credentials, and I kinda thought it slightly odd to see this ad on your channel. But I did hear an ex blackberry person came aboard the team, so maybe it will go ahead! I'm just skeptical is all.
I think it is still not dumb enough. I would remove the front camera, GPS and memory card slot. And I think the screen should not be a touch screen. Just add 4 arrow buttons for navigating the menu. A simple menu system is all people need if they expect a dumb phone. Don't give them a lot of things to scroll through.
This phone is not a dumb phone...like not even close...people are going to buy this phone and it will be just as addictive as a smartphone. Just because its eink its going to kill your addictive habits give me a break lol
I do think the dumb tech will make it somewhat in between. I used the BOOX tablet with full google play store access and ended up only using the notes feature. I didn’t want to use normal apps because they just don’t really work on e-ink. I see the same here. You could watch RUclips on it… but why would you 😂
@@bravestarr19It’s a fair point, although likely means that this isn’t the product for you. Personally I would want a hybrid smart/dumbphone for stuff like Spotify, wallet, android auto, maps… but something which is undesirable to browse on, scroll Instagram and tik tok.
i was really interested in a full phone version of the boox palma. but if this comes out before Boox does anything then i will probably have to give this phone a try.

I’ve heard some things like this from others as well. Thanks for letting me and others know! Hope this one proves to be real…
lol for people who couldn’t see this company is a scam from the start is lawls. So obvious. Minimal phone won’t be able to deliver a single product.
This phone is amazing. I love the e-ink display and real physical keyboard. And the real app store with Spotify and needed apps.
Could be great for some folks!
what does it look like when you want open the camera?
Excellent breakdown, the best reviews on RUclips, keep them coming!!!
Well thanks bro! 👊🏻

Dumb phone just make sure to add high security and we’re all good
I really miss having a physical keyboard, probably the only reason id get this
Nice!
Me too
I kept my 3G keyboard Kindle forever because touch screens on e-ink to type is bullshit.
Yessss agreed
I like that it’s basically a smart phone with an e-ink display, but at the same time, I think my fingers would be too big for the physical keyboard.
For sure. Wonder how quick it is as well! Especially while typing
@@SpencerScottPugh Yeah I think typing will be fast, but how quick it shows up on screen might be where it's still slow.
I have very (!) big hands and never had a problem with e.g. Blackberry in the past... I think you can get used to it easily.
It REALLY needs E-Sim to be included, for ease of global travel. That's my sticking point with this otherwise ideal phone!
A lot of over seas carriers only support physical sim
