With all the flying you’ve done, all the planes you seen, and all the places you’ve been, what would you recommend as a good, inexpensive, first plane? I’d like to get to the point where I fly to Mexico, Canada, Islands, etc, but I’d like to get my wings under me. I’m a few years out from owning a plane, but I’d love to get there ASAP

That’s a really good question and we are definitely going to make a video on this in the future. Until then, it really depends on what you want to do with it. If you want to build time I’d say a Cessna 150 is probably the cheapest way to do it. With a initial cost of around $20k-$25k, fuel burn of around 5.5gph, and yearly cost of around $4k (not including fuel) it is really hard to beat. With that being said, 150’s are SLOW. You can expect about 100 knots cruise in a standard 150. That’s almost bush plane speed. If you want to go on long trips with your first plane, it can be done in a 150, just know that it will take a very long time. With all that being said, if you want a good “cheap” cross country plane, the Mooney M20C is a good bet. With a cruise speed of about 145 knots, it will definitely get you places a lot faster. However, initial cost is around $40k-60k, fuel burn of around 11.5gph, and yearly cost of around $9k (not including fuel).

Congratulations. Suggest you put your merch as an active link. Can’t copy and paste from an iPad. Gonna loose potential traffic to your store.
