Besides being well-conceived and beautifully written, this series was so well acted, it's stunning.
Breaks my heart to watch Joanie sit in judgment of herself (in a jail cell, of course). She is over-brimming with a desire to protect and nurture the children -- or "watering their garden" as she says -- and yet clearly feels her sinful past renders her unworthy of participation in that holy communion. That she finds salvation in the saving of Jane is such powerful poetry.

That analysis is very stated. I understood her dilemma but couldn't have put it into words you did.
It only took me 5 viewing of the entire series to realize that the actor playing Hostetler is the same guy that played George Washington Duke in Rocky 5. Awesome.
I'm so glad she and Charlie Utter had each other - he seemed like the only person she could truly open up to. Two kindred spirits in a brutal place
Both of them had Joanie Stubbs as well, who I think is an underappreciated character. Considering - or probably because of - where she comes from, Joanie always seem to connect with the least powerfull - and that includes at least one beautiful scene with Mose.
@@loge10 Sorry - I was indeed referring to Joanie and Charlie, their friendship was a high point. I totally agree with you. She was wonderful.
@@spinnact Actually, my mistake as I review the post and your comment. But we agree that we agree! Joanie is a special character and I'm glad she has Charlie (who's also a special character) to go to.

For some reason justified was never my favorite cup t for some reason I don't no why but I couldn't never get in to it
Deadwood and Longmire and Yellowstone are my favorite Western modern movies of all times
Totally agree about Longmire. I don't know Yellowstone, but if you are including it with these other two, I guess I'll have to check it out!
In addition to being a wonderful actress (politically correct - actor) as attested by this scene, she is the most beautiful woman on the show. I miss Deadwood.
Charlie utter and doc Cochran are good men. Johnny is a good man also, he's just a dummy who's soul is easily corrupted. Ellsworth also, he was the first man in deadwood and he tells it how it is and swearengen respects that. Hell even Ty waspissed off when Hearst had Ellsworth killed. They respected him so much because he had been through so much but he still never forgot what morals were.

I wish Americans knew as much about real life as they do about movies. Look at the people they elect to run this country. Deadwood ain’t got nothin on them!!!
You can always go back to wherever the fuck you’re from. Fact is no matter how asinine our elected officials are, it’s still better here and you have more opportunities than anywhere else in the world
