Looks like those elevators just had a very light modernisation in the late 1990s/early 2000s which involved cabs being renovated with new ceilings but the floors and walls were seemingly kept original while other than that only the interior button panel was replaced with an Otis 2000 one. However everything else including the LED digit indicators seem original. Probably the fact that those elevators are extremely well built and heavy duty while having all the standard modern elevator features with microcontrollers is why they were never replaced or heavily modernised and they are also a lot more reliable and easier to maintain compared to many modern elevators.
I prefer "bells" over those nasty electronic gongs....Nice footage, joint is crawling with vertical transportation!
Otis came out with Elevonic in 1979. Otis's first non-relay controller is Elevonic 101 in 1979, fully microprocessor controlled and used silicon-controlled rectifier motor drives. They are only for 3500lbs capacity.
High-rise elevators were not Elevonic 101 due to being 2500lbs capacity. Modernized with Elevonic 411M.
wow must've been advanced for the time

At least all elevators still have some of their characters preserved after modernization.
Yes i just love those Otis Lexan call buttons
+Heritage Elevators My old doctors office used to have an OTIS hydro from the early 50s with black buttons.

Any reason why you play with the elevator buttons?
Interesting how they put 2 call panels for 2 buttons instead of 1 call panel for 2 buttons.

Otis is the creator 4 all elevators and escalators...everywhere?
no, not all of them. there are other companies that do that too
I know they must have been very nice and awesome, but they've been modernized. Such a shame because they had capacitive buttons, which is very rare.
I heard a TTC Bus Orion VII at the about 0:16
