Longer links would extend further. More links would extend further but would not collapse (retract) as tight (close). How far it will extend and what weight will it support is a function of material, dimensions and workmanship. Will it bend if overloaded? Yes, it will bend and it will break at some extension and/or load. You would just need to prototype it and see if it will do what you want.
Cool project! I want to try to make some of these out of some kind of plastic sheet. BTW, you probably get this all the time, but you sound a lot like J.K. Simmons' "Cave Johnson" character from "Portal".
Do you know if there's a limit on how fast these can open up? I plan on actually making a punching glove gun that's life-size rather than getting one of those little toys. In my plan, I'm wanting it to come out rather quickly, but I don't want to end up damaging the extension because it opened up too quickly.
Not the easiest item to find sometimes. eBay has some listed. Google CLAMP LIGHT or ALUMINUM REFLECTOR WORK LIGHT. They cost $6 to $9 but shipping usually doubles that and to me they are not worth $18. Local handyman hardware stores or farm supply sometimes have them. This one was at a local True Value Hardware, which not longer has them.
IDEIAS EM MADEIRA Watch Part 2 & Part 3. Part 2 has the only dimensions available which are for the drilling jig. Just follow my example to build your own. Thank you for watching and please subscribe.
what if i'll increase the length.. is it possible to use this mechanism in robotic arm, i have to extend the arm till 2 meters, will it bend? do rply asap

It is not red. That is the difference in light balance between the overhead fluorescent daylight bulbs and the incandescent bulb in the scissors light. The camera is set up for daylight and then gets confused with the incandescent light source. Thanks for watching.
Sorry, there are no plans. Just follow the instructions in the videos. All dimensions are given there.
Good job there, I'm going to have to build me a few of these for my shop.

Nice, can you tell me where you purchased the lamp fixture?
Mr Walters, congratulations. I would like, if possible send me the link with tutorial and plan with the measures of this equipment.
