Both Serena and Venus always plays well against Ivanovic. I guess Ivanovic game brings out the best in them. Ivanovic was a great player but after she won the French Open in 2008 and became #1 her career went down. It took her 6 years in 2014 to get back in to the top 10.
Your comment is a huge compliment to Serena-not so much to Ana. Serena was sick and barely moving to start this match. That’s why Ana was able to pound her returns and attempted to move Serena around side to side and forward with the drop shot. Ana gave her all but couldn’t even walk away with a set. 😂 And FYI Serena has way more than mental edge over Ana. Her game is far superior. The only chance Ana has is to hope Serena is off her game. As you can see-even that’s not a given. I like Ana, but let’s keep it honest.
Serena definitely upped her game once she qualified to SF (thanks to Ana's win over Simona) and played such a breathtaking performance in the final against Halep.
It was thanks to Simona’s taking one set from Ivanovic, not thanks to Ivanovic. If Ivanovic win over Halep was in straight sets, Serena would have been out.
