I found that album years after they stopped seeing airplay and I liked it quite a lot. Still, I would think to put some Wu Tang, Public Enemy, Mobb Deep, NWA, maybe Gil Scott Heron who actually never wanted to have anything to do with rap though he helped invent and inspire it.

Nas is the greatest emcee by now. Maybe some emcees in a distant future will pass him, but he still hands down for now. Once societies become more conscious, learn more about life and become more mature, they'll understand why he is a exceptional emcee in his own class who deserves much more. When the young become more conscious and woke, they'll see why and I'm sure that most top tier emcee would agree with me.

Emimem is good and deserves to be in at least top 5 for sure but Nas is without doubt number 1 when it comes to lyricism
and it's so much deeper than that too I feel like it's hard for anyone other than em to understand. even something simple as changing the tone of his voice in certain parts of songs could be done so beautifully. He is truly a genius I don't know anyone who could compete with him lyrically.

In terms of raw lyricism alone : Big L, Big Pun, Rakim, Nas, Eminem, MF Doom, Inspectah Deck, Kendrick, 2Pac and Chuck D. If I were to include flow too then Jay Z and Biggie would make it. Regarding lyricism, I think Reasonable Doubt is undoubtedly his best work. I liked 4:44, The Black Album, American Gangster in that respect too. Although Jay-Z is known for his wordplay and double entendre's, I think most of his work is appreciated for his flow and stellar production.
