  • Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle joins the cast of the Mack Sennett comedy from April 1915.
The plot unfolds as daughter (Estelle Allen) meets a suitor (Joe Bordeaux) who her father (Frank Hayes) rejects until Joe says they are engaged.
The doorbell rings and it's a second suitor (Roscoe Arbuckle) and the father kicks Joe out. Then another suitor shows up.
Arbuckle persuades Estelle to run away with him and a chase ensues. They take off in a car and then commandeer a biplane.
There is some great aerial photography with aviator De Lloyd Thompson at the controls. They soar over a relatively rural Los Angeles. The Keystone cops take up the pursuit.
Of course, there are a few reversals and Fatty decides to dump Estelle. She ends up with Joe.

The actress in this short is named Helen Carlyle, not Estelle Allen. The book " Mack Sennett's Fun Factory " correctly identifies her.

+jarjon76 Hello, looking at the reference guide, Early Paper Prints from the Library of Congress, that was compiled from the Copyright submissions I found Estelle Allen listed in the role of the daughter. Carlyle doesn't have a separate listing so would have to go through every Sennett film to see what films she was given credit for that he wrote, directed or produced. It's possible an error was made but I'll keep the Allen credit for now. Thanks for your observation though. The "Fun Factory" may be right.

That's fair. It's really difficult to identify some of these actors/actresses. It's a shame they didn't credit a lot of them at the time.

+jarjon76 Could be Carlyle who did have quite an interesting life. As you say it's really hard to ID the actors in the era before IMDB. I'll keep digging. Thanks for blowing the whistle.

@@KingRoseArchives Whoever she is, it's understandable that she's popular with the guys. She's gorgeous (and what a rack!)
