Thanks so much for this lovely archive of Buster Keaton. I am obsessed with his work. He is like a god to me and we were so lucky to have him. I wish I could have lived back then for just that possibility of meeting the brilliant man himself.
During the golf sequences, he's wearing a style of pants called Knickerbockers. They were loose fitting and cut off a little below the knee. They were typically used for playing sports; especially Golf. Just an interesting tidbit about that time.
He was my late father, one of the favourite actors: Those times! Film used to continue for days & months! As audio System was absent! The band seating in theatre, used to play music, according to scenes! I am watching him for the first time in my life! Thanks a lot!
I was amazed after knowing that the stunts are real. Harold Lloyd, Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton and Mr. Bean is the greatest comedy collaboration that never happened.
The kings of comedy: Buster Keaton, Laurel and Hardy, the Keystone Kops. Love it. Comedians nowadays can't even come close to this, and they think they have to use foul language to be funny.
Thank you so much for this archive. Buster Keaton is my hero. I think Charlie Chaplin is like Bill Gates and Buster Keaton is Steve Jobs(and absolutely I prefer Keaton).
Keaton never made a dull silent film (in my opinion). I´ve seen just about all the silents he appeared in, included the Roscoe Arbuckle ones...all pure genius. As for this being a bad print, there is ample technology today that can fix it to top quality. Just a matter of will. A late 1920s film with Mary Pickford, playing a Spanish lady, was in such a bad shape, many images were blurred or scarred and altogether a mess to look at. It was restored to HD quality, looking even better than when it was released. If i recall correctly, there is a better print of this in a DVD release of all the existing shorts Keaton made.
It's hard to believe that over three hundred trolls gave this film a thumbs down. I wonder how far they had to go from the bridges they lived under to see this comedy classic.
Quite possibly they thumbed down the horrible and invasive music that added nothing to the narrative. There was also nothing stated in the description as to why this particular score was included in the first place. Was it an "original" score, an improvisation or in any way supposed to aid the motions or characterization on screen? I just found the whole film unwatchable. And no ... in anticipation of the stock you tube answer to this type of issue .... having to mute something which was deliberately included is not an obvious "solution".
I love how near the end he copied their old vaudeville routine from when he was a kid. It's also very fitting that the first convict to be hut by the ball on the rope is his father, Joe Keaton.
9:10 i like how buster keaton's films had women characters that had personality and did actions that affected the plot, and were not just objects to woo. awesome stuff.
The image quality is not the best and the intertitles are written with a very modern letter, but it is the most complete version in RUclips, all the other lack approximately one minute of footage and the image is cut off by the edges, so thanks uploading this version. I saw her with my little nieces and they loved her from beginning to end.
Sadly, convict 13 is one of his films that we're lucky even to have a bad print of. I believe it had been lost for some time, and then they rediscovered it. Sad it's in such bad condition though. I hate to see silent films in this state.
Molly R. Goates Unfortunately a ton of silent movies aren’t in great condition... however we should be thankful for the silent movies that do still exist. 90% of all silent films ever made are now considered lost... it’s heartbreaking 😭
Thank You for posting this. I've been looking for it for awhile. In it, Buster Keaton re-create the ball routine stunt he perfected when he was a boy and working with his parents on the vaudeville stage. No film footage exists of their act which consisted of a table stunt and a ball stunt, much like is seen in this film. His father would be in the center of the stage proceeding to give a lecture on the proper way to bring up children while in the background, Buster would be misbehaving with a ball on a rope. He would swing it round and round until it finally wacked his dad upside the head. His dad would then chase him all around the stage and when he caught him, he would give little Buster a tussle. Its nice to get an idea of what their act used to look like way back when it was billed as ''The Roughest Act in Vaudeville'
The Ingenuity Of Yesteryears Comedians Amazes Me To No End, So Much More Creative than these days.
"Sorry, boys. We'll fix it and tomorrow we'll hang two of you to make up for this." LMAO.

Buster Keaton is still funny roughly 100 years after he made this film. That is brilliant!

I wish they'd bring back silent movies. This was wonderful to watch. Thank you 😊
Buster could do sooo much with so little. Love him even more for that
Old is gold 💗
@Sanjana Singh I am realizing that and I love it
If Nick Cage starred in a silent movie, it would be a triumph. There's nothing more expressive than his big green eyes.
Silent movie...but created big bang in my heart. First time hearing and seeing such actor..and his marvell in comedy.
So it was all a dream? My first time watching Buster. What a showman!!
This is one of my favorite Buster Keaton shorts. It's so funny, and Big Joe Roberts.I can't stop laughing 🤣
Joe was the perfect foil in buster's movies till his untimely death after filming our hospitality.
Who is watching 2024😂?
Great. I laughed to tears all the way. Thank you from France, Лиза Никулина
Swinging that ball and chain is so funny and innovative. He was the first to do so many stunts and visual tricks.
They ended this just how used to finish my stories in 5th grade. "and it was all a dream" lol. That means I have potential
Simplemente Maravilloso!!!!!
Buster keaton é gênio!
Está película tiene 101 años.realmemte Fantástico......👏👏👏👏👍👍🇨🇱🇨🇱😱😵

Wait - WHO was your 'late father' - Buster Keaton??
Prove it.
Wait a minute - or are you saying that Buster Keaton was one of your father's favourite actors?
99 years old and its great
Real bro
Old school comedy is still the best
He was the BEST ever,in physical comedy and was doing his own amazing real stunts and no one could match him in that.Jackie Chan was inspired by him.

"The inmate of a nearby prison takes a keen interest in outdoor pursuits..." - what a jewel of a sentence! 3:07

Daaaaamn 🖤 one of my favorite Keatons!!!
I was amazed after knowing that the stunts are real. Harold Lloyd, Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton and Mr. Bean is the greatest comedy collaboration that never happened.
Are
"Mr. Bean" is terrible. Really terrible.
I love it when Buster makes all the prison guards march in time with him. Very funny
El único actor que la mímica no la tenía en su cara. Grande entre los Grandes.
"the inmate of a nearby prison takes a keen interest in outdoor pursuits..." LOL
I am not a big fan of silent stuff...but this is top class in dozens of ways
Спасибо за видеоролик, сюжет мне больше понравился, спасибо всем, спасибо.
I love you diiii I have meet you

Need foul language! Heck, back then they didn't even need WORDS!
Don’t forget the Three Stooges and those fabulous Marx Brothers!
Oh God!! calling Buster a Genius will be an understatement ... his gags are being copied till date but he did it so much better 97 years back..
Thank you so much for this archive. Buster Keaton is my hero. I think Charlie Chaplin is like Bill Gates and Buster Keaton is Steve Jobs(and absolutely I prefer Keaton).
That's a bizarre analogy lol
A master actor.
He's so young in this one.
amazing actor
great comedy thank u for posting
Outside of Laurel and Hardy, I've never much bothered with silent movies. Keaton was one very fit man to have done those stunts. Much impressed.
A princesa Isabel do Brasil estava viva ainda ❤
After doing unbelievable balance on a log Keaton jumps in the water twice to do a bit with seemingly live fish … What a man .

A beautiful print! Thank you.
Reeeee Genial 👍 un comediante extraordinario!!!
Thank you. This is amazing!
We rarely see this kind of shows today.
He started out playing golf, and ended up assistant Warden of a prison
I love how near the end he copied their old vaudeville routine from when he was a kid. It's also very fitting that the first convict to be hut by the ball on the rope is his father, Joe Keaton.
Beautiful. I never seen suchlike.

Feminist minds are so atrophied. Idiots.
the fact you look for things like that shows how sexist you are
pretty sure that was sarcasm
@@Krissy_Bunnie In this environment you think that was sarcasm? No. Plain stupidity from the 'everything is politics' social criminals of the left.
@@Averyofthemain I think both sides are to blame, but I don't feel like getting into that.
"Sorry boys. We'll fix the rope & tomorrow we'll hand two of you to make up for this!" 😂..
А шляпу у Китона "заимствовал" Ю. Никулин., а красотка на первых кадрах- копия девушка из "Однажды в Америке". 👍🚃👍😂

I like how the car in the background of 5:31 coincidentally ran up into them doing that sequence in a film, I bet they were so confused and amazed.
