This is a very nice design for small work spaces and perfect for a hobbyist. Some of the flimsy parts can be redesigned and reinforced for heavy use. The concept is very nice and useful. Thanks for uploading this video.
Brilliant, absolutely brilliant. I'm planning on building an new house with a complete two-car garage sized shop. Even with all that floor space, this bench makes perfect sense for storing my oscillating drum sander and router table. Thanks for the excellent idea!

Also, due to the size of my shop and considering I have a full size cabinet table saw, I would make the bench at a height to also function as my outfeed/assembly table as well. Are plans available for this?
Full of ideas. No need for negative posts. Modify it or improve it if you are critical. I think I could just have the saw on a table with locking castors and pull it out. It might be a little lower than ideal, but I could rip long boards then. The blade guard seems to be disposed of in reality, as it would be a pain to fit it and remove with each use. As you will need storage for power tools etc it might be better to have shelves under the bench and store the saw elsewhere, instead of having a chest of drawers elsewhere taking up space. The saw could then be on a firm base at the right height, and have the blade guard and dust extraction on. Just thinking on the hoof😀 Interesting video.
Great design and I'm impress. But there's a flaw in your design in regard to the table saw and how the bench will get in the way as soon as you want to use the groove. Unless you can extend the groove to the bench then it might actually make a better groove than just the one in the table saw if you know what i mean. Thanks for the video.
I made this bench and put drawers on the right side. The only problem I had was the lever. Using 1/2 inch plywood I had the bushing falling out and the cable elongating the hole. So I used 3/4 plywood, it is a tight fit but works great, just like in the video. I have a Bosch benchtop router table and just finished building a cabinet on casters for it to go on top. When on top the router tabletop is at the same height as the workbench.

There are a few factors in building a table saw. One place I discovered which successfully combines these is the Wilfs Wood Blueprint (google it if you're interested) definately the no.1 plan i've heard of. Check out all the awesome info .

The solution to many of my problems! Thanks Much! Question. Does the table saw sit flush with the work table in the upright position? If so there wouldn't be any space for the fence overhang. Am I missing something?
I too was looking at the saw, saying to myself "How's that gonna work with the fence installed??" I have a Dewalt contractor's table saw (DWE945X, I think), and the back part of the fence moving back and forth prevents you from having a outfeed table perfectly flush... That is, unless you are cutting something super wide and have the fence all the way over.
What power tools required to complete 90%+ projects? Your table has three, after those there's a drill press, miter saw, planner, lathe and band saw, any others?
That table saw set up looks like you'll be joining the "less that 10 fingers club" in a hurry. From the legs that stick out that you could possibly trip over, to the fact that the swing part of the mount isn't locked, I can see something getting bumped and your hand being turned to mince meat in a jiffy.

Some other subjects range from the different types of wood and their different levels of difficulty in terms of managing them. In case you are still a novice in woodworking, then you will find this book very helpful.
That's Great, I'm retired and looking for possible hobbies to get into such as woodworking and/or blacksmithing? Unfortunetly I have virtually no experience with either Skill/Art (since high school). This table might work for a newbie with half of a garage? Though, I see that it's too thin for tool(s) on the other side (maybe hand tools)? The accessories are mounted on the end (near vice), correct (or maybe on the other side)? There seems to be enough room for a small drawer under the saw? Will there be provisions for dust collection and/or piping for air tools? Thank-you for the time.
I've had the chance to use this table a couple of times now. It's fun to whip out in front of people:) I can see what people are talking about when they say the legs are delicate, but they're design to support a "mostly" vertical load, not be torqued from the side or pushed back into place. My only gripe would probably be related to the clamps provided. They're not the highest quality. They do the job, so no big deal, but they could be better. All in all, pretty cool gadget.

I started searching for a pre-owned used magazine issue (AW #170) on craigslist ebay amazon etc. i have had luck, but thats about the best i can tell u.
American Woodworker Magazine was bought out by another company. I went looking around trying to find the magazine which contained this bench. The company that bought the magazine offers a collection of all American Woodworker magazines from 1985-2014 (which should include the edition with this bench) for $15. what is funny is he said, we built this with 4 sheets of plywood. The way we made the top is with a hollow core door lol well that's not plywood last time I checked.
The most dangerous tool in the workshop is now only supported by a couple of drawer slides, a gravity lean against the table, and a loose cable..............what could go wrong? This design is too clever by half. A smaller separate table for the table saw with similar retractable casters that can be rolled over to the workbench for the out feed would be better.

Nice-I need to do this with a radial arm-router-and I guess skilsaw as a table saw because radial arm is too big and heavy to store under

How long will the ball bearing drawer slides last getting full of sawdust? Seems to me they would get clogged up rather quick.
I give it two-three weeks before all the levers and gizmos fall apart.

At around $50 per sheet of 3/4" plywood these plywood projects of yesteryear are kind of pricey. 2x lumber is much cheaper these days.

As far as a heavy tool I'd rather not set on benchtop to use as an example I'd choose a planer myself...

Looks like a tripping hazard to me in front of the table saw.
