Absolute nonsense! Magadhi language was very close to Pali language. When Arihant Maha Mahinda thero came to Sri Lanka he taught buddhism to Sri Lankan people in the Pali language which was written down in words in Palm leaves by Sri Lankan monks. The language of Sinhala was greatly influenced by the Pali language. The idea of Pali being a made up language is absolute nonsense.

Pali is made from different existing Prakrit dialects of that time. Compare this process with a country in South America: Suriname. In the 19th century, many Indians immigrated to that country to work in agriculture. They came from different parts of Northern India and had different dialects as their mother tongue: Bhojpuri, Avadhi, Magahi and Braj. After one generation, these dialects merged into a kind of eastern Hindi dialect that was called Sarnami Hindi. This is also how Pali came into being because the Buddha preached in different parts of Northern India.
