i know im like 2 yrs late but i was wondering about ur preference for shortening instead of water to stick fondant to itself? i love this cake! i made one also & would love to share a pic with u!
Absolutely beautiful! Just curious, I've seen many videos and they always say to use water to stick your pieces with. Does the shortening hold it together and acts like glue the same as water?
Thank you!! I like to use both for different things, I mostly use shortening if I know I might need to fiddle with something a bit since the color from the fondant wont run and transfer onto the cake like it does when you get it wet with water. Water is waaay less forgiving if you need to move something once you've already attached it. I use water when I am making a topper or I need something to stick really well without budging, for heavier pieces etc. You can really use either one it just comes down to your preference:)
If your cake made last nyt,is it advisable to put in the fridge overnyt before you put fondant?bcoz my 1st fondant cake got sweat when i put the fondant on the cake.. i use buttercream too.. what is the possible reason of that?
I will usually give myself three days to decorate a cake. On the first day I will bake my cakes and make the toppers (so the candles, the food offerings, the guitar etc). On the second day I will ice my cakes and cover in fondant and complete any of the toppers I didn't finish the first day. Then on the third day I will add the final decorations that couldn't be made before hand (Miguel's face, the petals, the banner)

Liam Hugo it's just condensation, perfectly normal.. just let it come back to temp. The sweat will go away
How many days in advance could we make this cake for a party

There is a 6 inch and a 4 inch tier, and I made 2 batches of the buttercream recipe listed and had a bit left over in the end.
