    London-Heathrow... That was always my gate to the USA. And I always flew with British Airways from Munich and Vienna. Beautiful! Thank you so much dear Dominic. You brought back some old memories. 💖🙂

      @Jethz Год назад +1

      Yes, in my limited experience a very nice place for the layover to the USA. Tried Frankfurt, but didn't feel as easy to get through. That said, terminal 5 is just very airy and welcoming with those giant windows. Frankfurt felt like a very cramped and dark airport to travel through. I'll stick with Heathrow.

    It remembers me of a flight from Vienna to Heathrow with an MD 81 of AUA. A friend of mine was Capitan and before 9/11 one could go into the cockpit and take the jump seat. And it was a very special flight, as it was in the afternoon near sunset, and the long-served first officer shot several photos. We got 'straight in approach, no speed restriction, and maintain high speed as long as possible'. They said this was for the first time in thirty years.

    Hi Dominic, thank you so much for sharing these wonderful takeoff and landing hi-res vids! I think it might be a great educational addition to them if you could find a way to keep the nav instruments in full sight during the procedure. Coming from a different background, I'm quite surprised by in this vid: the autothrottle keeps N1 in the 50-ish until pretty much 50ft. Everyone's past experience is different, and it's very educating to compare their own with that of aviating the modern airliner! Of course, we had a much more responsive spool-up than the hi-bypass turbofans of an airliner in case of the goaround, but the 50?! It's like wow how different it is! With the full flaps/slats under DFCS control we could go to the minima the 'cfart specs allowed, as low as 10-ish, practically no thrust, and flare in literally a second. On the hard side, of course, but who cared, naturally. :)

    Wonderful video with some great views of London. I've flown once on a Swiss A220 from Porto to Zurich. Loved it. In my opinion, the A220 is so much better than Embraer.

      Thank you very much for your comment! I haven’t flown on the newest embraer model yet, I liked the E195 a lot. But obviously it can’t compete with the spacious cabin of the 220 and all its features. Thank you again for your comment, I’m glad you had a good flight from Porto! best regards,Dominic

    Bei guten Wetterverhältnissen ist der Anflug auf London immer etwas Besonderes und sehr eindrucksvoll, denn es ist einfach toll, diese pulsierende Stadt an der Themse von oben zu sehen.👌
    Vielen Dank für dieses großartige Video vom Landing Approach auf LHR!
    Echt super Content für Luftfahrtbegeisterte auf diesem Kanal!👍
    Wenn ich es richtig verstanden habe, folgt auch noch ein Video vom Anflug auf LCY?
    Das wäre natürlich besonders interessant, da dort nochmal ganz andere Voraussetzungen gelten (Sonderzulassung Flugpersonal / Flugzeuge, höherer Anflugwinkel, RWY 09/27 nur 1,5 km Länge).
    Bin wirklich schon gespannt...😃
    Vielen Dank jedenfalls für ein weiteres wunderschönes und beeindruckendes Video, Dominic!👏

Wie Du richtig gesagt hast, sind dies einige verschiedene Faktoren die diese Landung sehr speziell machen. Hoffe ich kann dich beim nächsten Video begrüßen!

    Both of you grab the glare shield in turns just after touch down, with 3 fingers. Is there a particular reason for that? I noticed the person in the right flipping up the hud soon after, so is there a button to unlock it there or something?
