      Why would Brian do that lmfao??? It’s not his bike, he didn’t build it or pay for it nor has the pink slip to it lol haiden dog walked kids on the Ktms nobody wanted to claim he would have won that race on a stock bike lol.
      The kid also mentioned in other podcast that he was only in a room with Brian talking for like ten min. If star lost their bike and they found stuff haiden would just find a different factory team that would be more than happy to take him. The deegans don’t really have anything to care about in that besides a sentimental value to the bike possibly.
      This is a star issue not a deegan issue and everybody puts it on deegan lol

      To my understanding the rules say that a registered race bike at that event can be claimed by anyone for double MSRP.

      Its meant to keep people (manufacturerers) from over modding the bikes so the field stays balanced.

And we have at least three large entities who are seconds away from being exposed on several different levels. And in you mind, the kid is the only one that could possibly not telling the truth? Steve, all of the party's involved in this should start figuring out how to make this kid whole again. Because when he comes to his senses, he's going to eventually speak to an attorney. I wish luck all of them telling their tails in a courtroom. Based on the interviews posted on vital, that is. And, speaking out about a minor in this manner, based entirely on what they told you, considering the platform you have in the industry, will probably prove to be less than wise. Yamaha doesn't want their unobtanium parts to get out and they wouldn't hesitate for a second to lie about whether or not they threatened the dealer. And the dealer has the incentive to lie about that conversation taking place because it will harm the business relationship (such as fewer bike allotments).

    Why would a sponsor pull a ride at the beginning of a race weekend? That clearly wouldn't have been the plan as Steve just asserted the case to be. That claim doesn't add up so it does appear that at least the sponsor Chris is lying.

    Why would Schofield drop the Claim 4 Hours Later, Tim Cotter even said Chris came to the AMA Trailer saying that the Claim couldn’t go through, Chris pulled the Dad away & when they came back from talking they said they were going to rescind the Claim. Obviously the Dealer made some kinda threat, either him saying he was going to lose Yamaha Support or whatever it was. Something was said from the Sponsor that made Schofield withdraw the claim. I’ve listened to all the interviews from all parties involved & never once was it indicated that Brennan was being dishonest about anything. Everything the kid has said has been corroborated & lastly the whole point of the Claim System is so that these Factory Teams aren’t running WORKS Bikes so why would the raise the MSRP as Mr. Matthes stated. That completely negates what the Rule is there for. It’s Amateur Racing & for those of us who’s kids aren’t the next Stewart & don’t have fully backed rides can’t afford $50k-$100k per race bike to go compete at Amateur Nationals. I’m not trying to sound like a Dick because I’ve been reading & following Matthes content for 20+ years. But this particular incident, it either feels like this is lazy reporting or he’s being Biased. Either way there’s good points made but I think 99.9% of people who have followed what went on definitely know the Sponsor/Dealer pulled some shady s-t, Deegan & Star should have handled the situation better because they look like Bullies fair or not. I think the AMA overall actually did a good job & I don’t doubt Brennan’s story one bit. He’s been consistent with everything he’s said & is the actual victim in this situation. After everything this kid has went through & everything he’s lost when he did nothing wrong & followed all the rules, I just don’t think it’s in anyway warranted to say he was not truthful. That just seems like more bullying bs. But hey maybe I’m the one who’s in the minority on what I think..

      Listen again at 16:05, he's biased for sure. Plus the Yamaha guys would be stupid to admit or say too much. The dealer would be stupid to admit if he was coerced, that would be worse than the kid getting the bike in the eyes of Yamaha. Walker was trying to be a hero or something, or not wanting his rider associated with the issue. He had said that he and the dealer talked, he met him at the gate that night and likely spooked him about his dealership. He would be stupid to admit that too. So with all the interests at stake on the Yamaha side, the dealer, and Walker, to say the kid was lying is ridiculous. His story is close enough, who can remember every detail anyway.

      based on your response you seem to be pretty heated and very passionate against the kid. if we were both on the jury than it would result in a hung jury and that is fine since i have no skin in the game. but again that is your right and mine to listen and make a best judgement on the information provided.
      while both parties will always have their view points one needs to ask the simple questions. first why would anyone go to great length to claim the bike and incur the risk they did in their community, then pull out and still incur the wrath? Second what did Yamaha have to lose the most?
      while you point out the sponsor speaking a different tune, one needs to understand that he makes his money not from the kid, but from selling Yamaha. follow the money and you will see where the loyalties are in each of these guys stories.
      i can see your side to appoint and it would be safe to argue that the engine mechanic could have been the real drive. however per all the interviews I've seen the claim was made by the kid and it was him who approached the mechanic after. Mitch Payton has never given his amateur guys the same motors as the pro team for this very reason. If star was running their factory stuff in Deegans bike then they were not being smart and ignoring that this could happen. If they weren't running factory stuff then who cares if the bike gets claimed so it would seem that they were. An answer to your question about how it doesnt make sense that everyone but Brennan is lying would be they all have a reputation and financial interests to protect. What does Brennan have to lose? I dont have a very exciting life so I have watched every interview. I have nothing to do with anyone involved and have never met any of them. I have a professional background with interviews and interrogation tactics. After spending way too much time watching all this unfold, my training, experience and my instinct has me believing Brennan and Derrick, they both seem very genuine and straight forward. Deegans seem like a non factor other than maybe apply some pressure behind the scene. Tim Cotter is probably a bit of a hot head but ultimately tried to do the right things. Matt Walker comes off like an absolute slime ball…..Every bit of my experience and instinct was screaming that dude is a lying scheming selfish fuck. He is the one that seemed to know everyone involved, I think he tried to play hero mediator and is behind Brennan ultimately dropping the claim, wether it was direct pressure on Brennan or maybe he is the one who put ideas in the dealers head to get him to pressure Brennan.
    I dont always agree you with you Mathis, but I think you are really trying to do everyone justice here, but I also think you are letting the fact that you have relationships with all these guys, personal and or professional cloud your judgement about everyone’s character.
    I think there was more tech in that bike than anyone wants to admit and it was never ment to be used at an amateur race where it could be claimed, but some one screwed up and gave it their blessing or tried to run it behind Star or Yamahas back thinking it would never get claimed and then the shit storm started and they got caught with their pants down.

      Agree totally. When I watched Walker's interview on a different show, that guy seemed like he was seriously up to something. Claimed he had no skin in the game yet seemed so adamant that it shouldn't be done (and claiming everyone who has done it had to carry that around for the rest of their life...not so, it's been done before with various outcomes). That and Walker downplayed possible engine agreements between Luce and Schofields. in a way that made it sound like a staged comment. Also, as you point out, Walker was making a big deal about Schofield's engine guy (which is all irrelevant to the claiming rule). Deegan's response seems very appropriate and honest to me in that he says he wasn't aware of the claiming rule and if not then he would have been going apeshite, out of his mind trying to wrap his head around what was happening. I think Star Yamaha put Deegan on a mega-expensive factory works bike and got caught with their pants down (not against the rules but that's why the claiming rule exists in the first place). Too bad for them, and AMA needs to fix this situation as not doing so makes AMA seem insincere regarding trying to keep amateur-level racing relatively fair.

    • @goldsbym
      @goldsbym 2 года назад +1

      Exactly right with your comment. The big question is what did Chris, Brennan's sponsor, say to get Brennan to drop the claim. That was the turning point in this situation. Brennan held to his decision all the time until Chris said, what ever he said to get Brennan to change his mind. That conversation has never been detailed. Obviously whatever was said must have been a big deal. Pulp Mx and every other interview seem to skip over what the dealer said. They say the dealer was threatened with taking a Yamaha dealer franchise away, but they say they don't believe that was on the table. The dealer probably exaggerated or even lied about having his license taken. However if Brennan was told this, I can understand Brennan out of concern for his dealer, would change his mind. But Pulp and everyone else try to make it sound like Brennan made that part of the story up. I believe Brennan is telling the truth about the dealer saying his Yamaha license was in jeopardy. Whether the license was in jeopardy is questionable. But everyone on Yamaha's side say that never happened. The dealer and Yamaha remain quiet about this ever happening, or they say it wasn't said. I believe the dealer lied. That's the only reason Brennan and his dad changed his mind. Then the dealer supposedly took all of Brendan's bikes away immediately. The dealer is the low life in this whole situation. He was the pivotal influence that made everything change.

      @motofreak2772 2 года назад

      @@goldsbym you’re right that it was the biggest part of the story and happens to be the only part excluded. Either the dealer acted out of its own fear or something actually did take place behind closed doors.

    • @goldsbym
      @goldsbym 2 года назад +1

      @@motofreak2772 Another thing that is very suspicious about this entire situation is the extreme measures that Yamaha and the dealer, and especially Donnie Luce, who is the mechanic for Deegan, went to persuade Brennan to drop the claim. I understand a factory modified Star Yamaha is a expensive bike, however I believe there was possibly more to the bike than what is being considered. Everyone assumes, since the class this bike was raced in, is a modified class, that the bike was legal. I have suspicion that the bike could have been illegal by using a big bore 300cc engine. Deegan almost pulled a holeshot from the far outside gate pick at Loretta Lynn's MX. That doesnt happen ever.. I've been around the sport of motocross for 40 years, and there are 2 guarantees in motocross. 1. You race long enough and you will get injured. 2. Lots of top riders cheat especially in the 80cc, 125cc, and 250cc class with bigger bore engines. Those are historical facts. I believe this could be the real reason that Yamaha, the Deegan's, Donnie Luce especially, did not want the bike claimed. That would be devastating to all of them if the public found out they really were cheating. That's the worst case scenario by far. So extreme measures were taken to cover that up. Way more devastating than losing a expensive bike.

      It's not about deegan knowing rule.
      The deegans have nothing to do with Star racing or the bike.
      Haiden rides for star racing. That's as much as deegans have to do with Star racing which is the factory Yamaha team.
      Star puts him on whatever bike they want to and haiden rides it be it a 50 to 60k one made of all off the shelf parts anyone can get or its a 100k bike with proprietary star racing/ Yamaha parts and the big thing was the ECU.
      Schofield bike had a 10k motor per the engine builder and 15k in of the shelf parts. So if someone claimed his bike they would get a deal at 2 times MSRP. But better to claim bikes at regional events were it's 1.3 times MSRP.
      That's the problem with claiming rule.
      It should be a flat 2.5 or 3 times MSRP since everyone is going to have a minimum of 15 to 20k in there mod race bike in off the shelf parts. You can hit 50k plus labor if you got finances to play in that rareafied air.

      Matt from Yamaha.
      Chris owner of his Yamaha sponsor who did right thing by getting him to drop claim, but then dropping him as sponsor and taking all 5 bikes back 10 days or so later as soon as Canadian nationals were over.
      Tim and Brian were middle ground.
      Star Yamaha shouldn't have been running a factory bike knowing it can be claimed, but I get why they are as deegan is going pro next year and he's gotta get use to that power etc.
      But they stepped up in the end after schofield said he just wanted to ride it and film it for his you tube channel and would then sell it back to deegans, they are making it happen by flying him to Cali and letting him ride the bike and probably other star Yamaha bikes and he can film haidens.
      So props to star at end.
      Brennan's dad wins worst dad of year. Never backed son, never was at any of meetings. Was brennon on his own or with engine builder.
      I like and dislike engine builder. Engine builder backed him all the way. But never explained to him what he would go thru and what could happen to career.
      Also engine builder said after he had time to think about it deegan and Tim were good guys.
      I think the big issue is everyone was trying to figure what was going on and how to work around the rule that says bike goes straight to schofield with haiden needing bike for 1 more race the next day and fact haiden didn't own bike star Yamaha did.
      Lots of issues came out that weren't in rules.
      Even schofield would be caught as he doesn't own his bikes his sponsor does.

    No don't change the rule or the value amount to claim a bike. Leave it where it is. It's amature racing. Stop letting factories come in and win all the championships with riders they cater to and provide factory bikes that amatures can afford. Leave the money amount where it is and limit what factories can bring, in fact be more strict, or they face losing what they brought. Just as the rule states. The rule is there to keep an even playing field for everyone. You spend 30-40k on a bike then you be prepared to lose it. This way it's easier for amatures without deep pockets to attend and compete for these championships so they aren't just handed to factory riders and teams because they have unlimited support and parts. Lorettas has slowly been taken over by factory teams, money and politics. VERY SAD.
    Lastly Brian Deegan, shame. He tries to say he didn't know it was a rule? BS!! He threaten kids that he would claim everyone's bikes at other events for being called out. All horse shit!! For someone such as himself who claims how hard he worked to get where he is and to raise Hayden Deegan and his kids, then he should know where Brandon is coming from.
