    We always have at least one night in Castelo Branco when going to our house. There are plenty of good restaurants and bars in , and around the main square . Lovely video again.

    You could look for the parking garages next time. I usually park at the roundabout where you’ve walked around minute 2, but in the centre you have a parking garage underneath the library near the montepio.

    Thank you for the nice tour and vistas of the city. I wonder why they called it "Branco" ? It doesn't look any whiter than other Portuguese castles.

    A lovely little town. I was reading it's occasionally a contender for hottest place in Europe 😳 Thanks for another great video, Cindy!

    • @CindyVine

      @alanmcdonald4423 4 года назад +2

      @NaCreagachaDubha Where did you read that? It is wrong.
      The hottest area in Portugal is the Beja region - and that is sometimes as hot as anywhere in Europe. It is rare for the temperature in Castelo Branco to top 40ºC and then very marginally. The top for the Beja area is over 47º. This is from official weather records.
      I am within 15 kms of CB and have 17 years weather records. Mine are not official ones, only for my own guidance. For 4 August 2018 I recorded 41.3 and the following day 40 exactly. The only two occasions I have recorded 40 or more. July is sometimes warmer than August, taking the month as a whole.
      I have farmed in Australia and the UK, from where I originate. I prefer Caselo Branco temperatures to either of those.

    Nice video! Castelo Branco is a beautifull town with great people.with these postal videos, you apply to become the Norwegian ambassador of Castelo Branco.All that region has beautifull things to see and visit,when you have the will and availability I suggest you to visit Monsanto. It is not far from the location of your property.And is a beautifull vilage.

    I love useless facts! They're some of the best things ever to throw out a completely random moments. The one about the Spanish and Portuguese kings is hilarious.
    CB looks lovely so between that and the food it definitely seems like a place to stop by, even when not looking for a farm in the area.

    • @CindyVine

    Hi 👋,
    If you were only reliant on public transportation, how would it be getting to and from your quinta? To the market, to the city center, etc.? Thx.

    • @CindyVine
      @CindyVine  4 года назад +1

      There are buses to many of the small towns. My quinta is probably a 1km from a small town. In Castela Branco I saw buses in the city center.

    I had no idea about the statues 😅 another interesting fact is that all portuguese kings and queens have a dom (d.) before their name, which is a noble title, for example, d. Afonso henriques (the first king), etc... but the Spanish kings that ruled in portugal when we were invaded are merely known as filipe I, Filipe II and filipe III, with no dom before their name, which like the height of those statues could show how there's still a bit of hatred towards their dynasty here.

    • @CindyVine
      @CindyVine  4 года назад +2

      I think there's still a bit of rivalry between Spain and Portugal!

    Soon you will find all the free places or cheap car parks.................. we never have problems, unless wanting to stop right outside the particular shop.we stayed at the big 4-5 star hotel for 40 a night, breakfast included and swimming pool gym etc........... at the top of the hill near the castle.
    P.S the small village we live in was meant to be the Capitol of Portugal, obviously it didnt make it lol
    Also dont go rushing to those hardware shops to buy tiles etc just yet, hugely overpriced, once you make some friends you will find the same sort of things in other shops, not obvious to find and normally with no websites but prices are much lower.
