I love how the Christians say we're 'odd' but they celebrate our festivals our way 🤔 I celebrate Christmas with family, but have a small Yule celebration myself to mark it
I celebrate both. I’m a mixture of both traditions. I love the ancient pagan rituals, and I also think there’s tremendous beauty in some of the church traditions. I’ve tried to join churches and simply cannot get passed the patriarchal liturgy. I’ve tried, because there’s things I love to participate in. But I always end up dissatisfied and even pissed off. So, I’m on my own.
Very enjoyable Ginny ❤️, we celebrate both even more we celebrate January 6th also and Old New Year on January 13th. It’s a math between Gregorian and Julian calendars. they had to drop 13 days from their calendars, due to the additional accumulated difference between the two calendars since 1582 The tradition of the Old New Year has been kept in Armenia, Russia, Serbia, Macedonia, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Montenegro, Ukraine(Malanka), Wales and Switzerland (as alter Silvester). In the first half of the 20th century, segments of the Scottish Gaelic community still observed the feast and today, groups such as Edinburgh's Am Bothan see this as a convenient date for Gaelic events. Have a blessed day.
I grew up feeling very connected to the yule traditions!!! Despite the commercialism I could feel the season from Thanksgiving to January 5 or 6 - then we took the tree down - and looked forward to a new year🥳 and a new spring and summer!!!🥰🐿️🎄🎑🌞🧑🎄
Another lovely video, thanks Ginny! I do the same as many, celebrate Christmas with everyone else but have a little Yule celebration of my own. Amazing how many people are unaware of quite how many ‘Christian’ traditions hark back further! We recently came back from a holiday in a Hindu country where a friend arranged for a wonderful blessing by a priest at a sacred lake as I am in very poor health. She is extremely tolerant and fascinated by my spirituality and I will send her the link to the video to explain Yule to her. I tried but this is far more eloquent 🤗 Tonight I have some calming and healing crystals with cuttings from my garden for healing and protection.
I have been practicing 44 years out of my 61 and in that time I had to celebrate Christmas but as I got older I felt like celebrating Christmas was wrong as I didn’t believe it. So I decided to celebrate just Yule and actually it worked out well especially after my divorce as I would have the children on Yule and he could have them on Christmas. Now that the children are all grown up and gone I continue the tradition of celebrating Yule with all of its wonderful traditions. A very magical time indeed.
I celebrate both more due to the tradition I experienced growing up and so that I may participate with my extended family. But I put much much more emphasis on yule and the winter solstice! Nothing more beautiful or Inspiring than the Pagan traditions!
Like that you tell so much of history. I celebrate Yule from the winter solstice, Christmas Eve we celebrate in Sweden December 24, which for me is more celebration of the garden elf and eating good food with the family.
Seasons greetings though that's probably of little comfort right now.I do hope the covid passes quickly and you get back to good health.Wishing you a speedy recovery 💐💐💐🎄🎅🐻🤗👍
Hi Ginny, lovely video thank you! We celebrate both Yule and Christmas. Generally I will do a thorough cleansing of the house including gathering up all unused toys so they may be donated and we will exchange a very small token. We have a gas fireplace but light our Yule candle as a family every year. I lay a round cut of ash wood that we surround with evergreen and holly cut from the yard and the candle sits in the center. I usually end up staying up… (or falling asleep on the couch) so that I can blow it out and have a wonderful cup of coffee in the utter quiet of the house as the sun comes up. It’s usually an immediate family or solitary affair and Christmas is spent much more traditionally as I find Yule and the solstice to represent more of the energy of winter and slowing down, going within where Christmas seems to bustle with energy and excitement. I hope you enjoy your Yule and Christmas celebrations!! Can’t wait for your next video!
Well met Ginny. This was a fantastic video, I can never hear the explanations of Yule enough and I find everyone that shares about it always offer a new tidbit or few that I haven’t heard before. It makes me feel cozy. I celebrate both, family dinner and gifts etc on the 25 but I also do a solitary celebration and ritual on the solstice :). Didn’t know any of that about prickly and smooth mistletoe
Hi Ginny love you’re videos they are always fantastic keep up the good work I celebrate on the 21st or the weekend before On Christmas Day we have curry from our brilliant Indian restaurant that’s open on Christmas Day keep the videos coming you always make me happy keep safe x🥲🧙🏻♀️
We celebrate Yule and Christmas. For Yule we invite friends and family over for a large dinner. Our centerpiece is a large roast harvested from our first deer of the season (to honor the Wild Hunt). We have small gifts for everyone and special gifts for the witches in our family. We will work a spell for protection and warmth for the remainer of Winter and I will re-ward our property. Christmas is when we open the rest of the gifts. Turkey covered in bacon for dinner, cinnamon rolls for breakfast. Normally just our immediate family (because by then I'm just exhausted). Thank you for all the information you always have for us!! I will pass this on to remind everyone. Blessed Yule ma'am!
Hi from Australia Ginny. If you don’t mind what is your opinion on the Southern Hemisphere celebrating the wheel in times with the seasons here or staying with the Northern Hemisphere times does that make sense?
We celebrate Yule. Christmas is a Christian holiday and has no place in my life. I raised my children pagan so they also celebrate Yule. My daughter's boyfriend is Christian and they plan to have a small celebration for the 2 of them with a small meal, gifts and time together. Nothing religious
I don't celebrate the Christian Christmas. My family and I just make snacks for the whole day and a lite dinner. Absolutely NO PRESENTS! We watch TV, do arts crafts and play video games.
I celebrate Winter Solstice
I love how the Christians say we're 'odd' but they celebrate our festivals our way 🤔 I celebrate Christmas with family, but have a small Yule celebration myself to mark it
I do the same too. Yule blessings to you.
Christians carry around a corpse on a cross. You don't get to call anyone weird if you are doing that!
I will be doing both
I celebrate Christmas and Yule

I celebrate Christmas culturally, but Yule spiritually!

I celebrate Yule and New Year, as Christmas was never so important in traditions of my family and even country (we have New Year as main holiday).
