Whenever I see this comparison, it usually goes something like this. "The Orient is a better watch but most prefer the SKX." I know this is blasphemy, but I have never understood the slobbering love affair with the SKX.
Agreed, in that I view the SKX as a very attractive prospect for modding purposes, (a bit like the Vostok amfibia) but perhaps not so very attractive by itself out of the box. In other words I understand why modders love it, but unsure why non-modders love it
I never cared for the looks of the SKX. I understand the divers rating and the availability of parts to mod it but honestly I would never buy one. The movement is outdated, doesn't look good so the only thing it has going for it is the ISO certification.
For me, it's the design... it hits many high notes, including the case profile, dial layout, bezel configuration, etc.
Matthew Daniels do you own a skx ?
@@PerthWAtch and it's the modders job to save that wonderful design from the prison of poor materials it's bound up in, hehehe :D
Orient doesn't get enough credit, they're a pretty legit brand in house movements and at a affordable price, look better too in my opinion
Yeah that’s right, Orient is an absolutely solid quality brand.
The Orient is so beautiful!!
Yes it is :)
Agreed Daniel, for me, the case, bracelet and face, design and color on the Orient is the winner here. While I appreciate Ivans efforts.
So close, Imho I would give the Orient a 9 or 10 on value because it's not discontinued and cheaper than skx.
Fair enough that, I think.
@Hunter Bautista . Although a good comparison video I tend to agree with you. Not only is the SKX discontinued but it's twice the price of the Orient Ray ll. You could buy one as an everyday tool watch (so to speak) and one for the weekend in a different colour and still be on top because the SKX price will only go up till they sell out. 🤷♂️ Either way I don't think you could be disappointed with your purchase. Keep up the great work Ivan.
@@rag_man673 At the rate SKX prices are going I'd rather get an Orient Triton for about the same money with better specs.
Nice comparison.
I had the Ray. For the price is a great watch. I have since sold it. I have moved on. I did get a Mako USA II, which they don’t sell outside North America. It has a number of upgrades, with sapphire and solid end links being the selling points.
At once I had 3 SKX’s, Inhave since sold 2 and now just have a SKX007J1. I like it, but that’s it. Especially at its currant price. Lots of more interesting divers for in the price range, Including other Seiko’s.
I will be keeping my 007, more of a collector piece to ware occasionally.
I can relate to that - current prices for the SKX especially in J version have gone somewhat nuts, and yeah the Mako II USA has some sweet upgrades for sure!
May I ask where you got the a Mako USA II? I've been trying to get one shipped to Australia with no luck.
Rocco m Sorry I did not see this sooner. I got mine me from Long Island Watch. I’m in the USA. Unfortunately, They are not permitted to sell trhe Mako USA II outside the US or Canada. That comes from Orient, and Long Island Atch has to follow this if they want to continue to be an Orient AD.
Unfortunately, you would have to buy it pre-owned or from someone who is not an Orient AD.
Nice review. I own both and I find the crown on my Orient is a bit gritty and small. I enjoy them both.
Thanks for the thoughts - would you have marked anything differently?
@@PerthWAtch The bezel action is nicer on the 007, otherwise you were spot on.👊🍻
The crown destroys my ability to enjoy the Mako II. I bought it primarily because I hate doing the “Seiko shuffle” to start up my SKX-009 but what a huge disappointment! In addition to being too small, the crown is gritty, a pain in the a** to hand wind, difficult to screw down and then never looks as if it’s screwed in all the way. Lastly, it should have a 20 mm lug width or at least a bracelet that tapers down. Huge disappointment in the Orient and I really wanted to like this watch. Guess I’ll be putting a hacking/winding nh35a movement in my SKX.
Having gotten into watches only a year ago i missed the golden opportunity to get a brand new skx at an affordable price. I think they are very nice looking watches. That being said i purchased the Orient Ray 2 as my first automatic watch and I am in love with it. Since i got it a month ago the power reserve hasnt run out once. I dont know alot about watches but to my untrained eye i would say the skx looks great as a more traditional classic dive watch but the Orient has a slightly dressy look to it.
The Ray 2 is a perfectly good watch - more so at its original and is full in-house manufacture. The SKX is indeed a pure tool watch designed for functionality whereas the Ray 2 has more aesthetic considerations, hence “dressier”
I studied these two pretty closely before making my choice, and I chose the Ray2! I then upgraded the Ray's bezel, insert, crystal and bracelet. Maybe that defeats the point a little bit, but I feel like what I ended up with is more unique (in spite of the Orient's huge popularity).
Oh I think you’ve indeed made something uniquely yours, and that’s something I would love to do also when I get the time to!
This is exactly what I did too. I still want to mod an SKX though.
I recently purchased a black Ray 2 and I am going to replace the crystal soon. Could you please share a pic or two of your modded Ray 2? I
Both excellent watches. I chose the Ray for its detailed dial and felt it is a better value for the money.
Fair enough - the dial definitely has more detail.
Okay for the money, mostly...
Excellent? Absolutely not.
You should give an example of what you consider excellent for the money, and why.
I have the ray 2 I love it I have it on the oem dolphin rubber strap as I didn't like the bracelet
Nice! Is it a soft supple silicone rubber?
Interesting comparison, picking up an orient dive at some point this year....⌚🏴⌚🏴
Cool, all the best - any particular model you prefer?
Great shoot-out I am a 100% Seiko fanboy but I wouldn't say no to the Orient 👍 thanks Ivan keep well
Thanks for that James - nothing wrong with being a Seiko fanboy :)
Nice vid Ivan thanks. You nailed it for me. I have the Orient but just can't quite get there with it. I want my diver tool watches to be more tool like rather than officey tool. BTW, hope you have weathered the storm ok...good old 2020 aye?
Thanks for that man... safe where I am, and yeah, what a 2020!!
Hi Ivan, as always, great comparison! I hate to be a stickler about the SKX mvmt, but it's a deal-breaker for me. If it had the 4r36 mvmt, it would be a slam-dunk, but with the non-hacking, non-hand winding 7s26, along with being as much as $75-$95 more than the Orient depending, it's just not as good a value. However, I do understand why many are loyal to it despite it's shortcomings.
Thanks for the thoughts man - hope you're keeping well, good to hear from you again!
Good review, I have a Ray 2 and its great but will get a Seiko to compare.
A good next watch to get for sure - let us know what you think!
I have the SKX, an Orient Mako XL and an Orient Kamasu. Out of three the Kamasu is the best, however a Heimdallr or Phoibos will give you a better watch. All that said, I still get a buzz when I wear the SKX, it just looks special
Thanks for sharing the thoughts - yes a micro-brand simply HAVE to give us better bang for buck, or they will never compete. Interesting to know the Kamasu gets your vote for best of those three.
Based on the three Orient automatics I currently own and my experience with other Seikos (not the SKX) with the 7S26/7S36 movement, the Orients have much more accurate movements. (I have the Bambino, the Kamasu and the Ray II as well).
Interesting to hear, thanks for sharing that. What kind of accuracy are you getting with your Orients?
@@PerthWAtch I have the Orient Mako II, out of the box it gained 15sec a day, so I regulated it myself. Now after 2 weeks, it is still 0 seconds off atomic. As accurate as my quartz so far, I must have fluked it...
My previous 7S26 Seiko was really hard to regulate.
@@PerthWAtch The Ray II is gaining around 5 seconds a day. The Bambino loses around 4 seconds a day, though I don't wear it enough to have a better sense of its long-term performance. The Kamasu gains 2 seconds a day.
@@TheUkester69 hy,please tell me, it is any difference between the dial's color on ray 2 and kamasu both on blue ? Wich one is more popping? And, the mineral on the ray 2 is way weaker than the sapphire on kamasu ? It scraching easy?
@@claudiugeorge5445 I only have the Ray 2 in black and the Kamasu in green. Despite being a Submariner homage, the Ray 2 still has some character to it: different hands, red tipped seconds hand, different font on the bezel and that cool Orient logo. Little differences.
The green Kamasu is fairly original, I think, particularly the color. I don't really see it as an homage to anything. Out of the two, I will definitely keep the Kamasu and might sell the Ray 2. The Kamasu pops more.
No scratches on either crystal, though I've worn the Kamasu way more.
Hi great review! Love the Orient Ray 2, especially the Blue..where would you recommend the best place to buy the Orient? I'm from Melbourne and looking to buy one soon! Thanks in advance Ivan!
Not sure if there is an actually retailer... Angus & Coote perhaps? Otherwise just go online, checkout the links I provided :)
Thank you very much! Love watching your reviews 👍🏼
Highly appreciated..I would love to have ur view on heimdaller against original skx... for the review I love it coz I have the rayll And mako2 And the heimdaller...I do like to watch review on big indices
Thanks for that - based on everything I’ve heard the Heimdallr should blast the SKX away on specs, so it comes down to aesthetics and other subjective areas as to which comes out ahead overall.
Once again, well done! Thanks for the entertainment. I've watched alot of these "verses" videos & I can't help but wonder if it would make more sense to just give a check to the winner of each category instead of points. And a tie is just a tie. Even in your explanation you say "giving the mark to...". It would simplify the system. Just a thought.
Fair point - I think it would make sense if the point spread was only ever 1 mark, but sometimes it's more than that, so this allows the nuance to play in. Anyway, it's just my own choice of mark, and I like it out of 100, etc. Cheer!
I like the orient but the SKX really does have my heart!
As it does mine :)
I love my SKX, despite its shortcomings, because of its personality, and the 726 movement can easily be upgrated, if you miss hacking and handwinding. At a certain cost, yes, but if you care for your watch, money is no object. I have no expecience with Orient, but I think it is a very good watch and good value for money. Thank you so much, Ivan, for this review
Thanks for that - what do you think of the new Seiko 5 SRPD range of watches? Easy enough to upgrade to screw in crown for the water resistance aspect? The bracelet, movement, and dials are certainly upgraded and (most think) better.
I think the Orient should have got more for value & quality ... but agree on most ... I still prefer the turtles
Fair enough Pablo!
I prefer the Seiko, but I am a bit of a fan boy!,, lol nice review, again! Thank you
Thanks for that - nothing wrong with being a Seiko fanboy :)
I like the framed window on the Orient but prefer the Seiko.
Thanks for the thoughts Andy!
seiko should have updated the skx instead of replacing it with the seiko fashion watch 5.
I think they will - the Seiko 5 is just a new range. Look out for a SKX update to be released in Prospex line in near future... with a $600 price tag!
@@PerthWAtch. Then it's not an skx but just another run of the mill overpriced seiko. Too bad
Yeah correct, but a more worthy "successor" or "replacement" than the 5KX models that were released last year.
hi Ivan. good to see you again. I guess that Summer is over? you are even wearing a light jacket :+)
as for this comparison, you got almost right... almost.
thanks for the review and hope to see you soon.
Oh you betcha, it's late autumn here now!
I would personally give the Orient another mark for calibre due to the movement having both hand winding and hacking. Would have been nice to have seen an accuracy comparison because to me thats one of the most important factors. Great enjoyable video though 👍
Thanks for that - yeah fair point. The accuracy of the Orient is likely a bit better on average. Individual movement regulation can be very good either way so a comparison of any two particular watches isn’t necessarily going to give you a good idea.
Great comparison Ivan. I own a skx009 and it’s a icon legendary watch . I do own two Orients a Mforce Bravo and a Triton. They are on a higher level than a Ray . I would love to see a Orient Triton and a Seiko turtle 🐢 comparison that would be interesting 🤔
Yeah that's a good point actually, Orient Triton or M-Force vs a Seiko Prospex... can't recall if I did that, I think I put a Phoibos against the Orient I had?
Perth WAtch yes it was a phoibos 👍🏻
im relatively new to the mech/ automatic watch universe addiction... my first and only auto watch is orient ray II but after tons of videos on multiple channels i want to buy more watches & do watch mods.
Welcome to the hobby... be careful, it's a rabbit hole! :)
Mate great video, in your opinion Mako or Ray or Seiko 5? How would you rate those 3?My wrist is 8 inch... was thinking orient xl or Seiko 5...Thanks
For that size wrist I’d go with the Orient XL. Overall I’d steer away from the 5 if you really want a “do anything” watch.
@@PerthWAtch Thanks mate, which watch do you recommend in general for that price?
Seiko, Orient or Citizen.
Hi Ivan , great head to head mate , I have the orient mako 2 in blue a great watch and I also have the 4 models of skx 007 , 009 , 013 , and the orange dial one I can't remember the number 033 maybe ? I love both brands and I've just bought the orange dial 5kx hopefully it arrives tomorrow 🤔 .
Another great video Ivan cheers mate
Thanks for that Trevor, wow a solid selection of model variations you have there!
@@PerthWAtch yeah mate I had the 007 before they discontinued them , as soon as i heard they were discontinuing skx I bought as many as I could , but lately I've been buying Chinese specials and saving up for a Oris great barrier reef 👍
Do you think mod parts for the SKX can fit for the Ray ? Im thinking of giving Tuna-like shroud for my Ray but its designed for SKX.
I don’t think they will fit… but there should be plenty Ray II mod parts no?
I have the Ray2 with a black face and have put it on a black nato strap. It looks the business ! You could wear it with a suit as well as on the beach and I would trust it diving. The difference in price between Seiko and Orient is now quite huge.
NATO isn’t really suitable to go with a suit IMO, but these days people seem to pass it.
Do you mean Seiko is hugely better than Orient?
I actually own 2 SKX's and the Ray II in blue ( hence I call it the Blue ray 😀). But I do love the hacking and hand winding if the Orient. So yeah, in that respect I would have given the SKX a 6. It's so outdated.
Yeah I gotta admit the 7S movement has had its time.
I have both a skx009j and an orient mako 2... both have been modded. From my experience with them, the orient is the better value just the seiko has more brand presence. Both are great watches though so couldn't go wrong with either.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts from your experience of those watches!
The Orient is a a better looking watch imop, and i prefer the Citizen promaster to the Seiko.but its all a matter of individual taste. Yep i own both!
Thanks - What's "imop"?
@@PerthWAtch in my opinion
I think you nailed it, i'm a huge Orient and Seiko fan however in this case I think the SKX gets the chocolates.
Thanks for that - glad you enjoyed it :)
Thanks for telling, and Seiko lume is outstanding, I also have s Seiko SKLN J1 blue dial for a dress watch, and although not a diver, lume is very, very good
Very nice, thanks for sharing that!
I think both watches win in the category no one seems to mention and that is the category of interchangeable parts. I dont mean modding, I mean the availability of replacement parts. I can bang my Mako 2 all over the boat and scratch the glass on some rock while air diving, I can always go to a watchmaker and replace almost every part of it. The SKX as well. So thats mostly why I bought it instead of some microbrand, the parts should be available for the next 20 years.
Interesting thought there - thanks for sharing. I guess that might be described as “serviceability”.
Interesting fact Seiko owns Orient that's why orient's Lume is so good it's actually Seiko lumibrite. And I have a skx175 and 2 new 5s I love absolutely love the new seiko 5s! But I'm a little bias short of a Rolex the new Seiko 5s are the best watches ever made in my opinion! But the Orient and the skx are both great watches you wouldn't be going wrong purchasing either
Seiko and Orient are "governed" loosely under a holding corporation, but are in fact two separate companies. Do you have any reference for the Orient being LumiBrite? I've tried to find info on this but cannot actually locate any confirmation.
@@PerthWAtch oh interesting I just googled what companies Seiko owns and that's where I got the information I was reading through message boards and articles and things like that and I seen an article that said Orient uses Seiko lumibrite since their sister companies kind of like Rolex and Tudor are. But not everything on the internet is true so you probably are correct Ivan you know more about watches than I do so seiko and orient are still set up as separate and competing companies then? and I appreciate the info brother. Hope you're enjoying your weekend
Yes they are separate companies run by separate boards and governance. In sense they are competing like Rado is in competition with Tissot, both owned by Swatch.
Would like to hear your thoughts on Rado watches.
Good Swatch brand for the price I think, with some interesting designs. They've fallen to the wayside in recent years but are still worth a look at the under $1000 mark.
@@PerthWAtch Other than the Captain Cook, Rado watch reviews are few and far between.
Rado and Mido, only one or two good watches. The rest are either uninteresting, or way overpriced.
@@ocb05 I like the unique style of Rado watches. Would like to see one up close.
Does the jubilee bracelet fit to the orient ray 2?
Dunno man…
The SKX is about twice the price right now, so you could buy a Ray 2 and a Ray Raven 2 for the price of the SKX.
Good review though!
Yeah, dems the breaks!
I had both. I think Orient is better overall but the Seiko has something different. Anyway I stilll own my Ray II orange.
The orange dial one is cool... I did consider getting that.
The Kamasu may be a more apt comparison to the SKX. The Mako USA II, while not nearly as iconic, is a better watch, I believe, than the SKX considering it also adds sapphire and solid end links.
Yeah the Mako II USA is a pretty sweet piece they put out!
If the Orient Ray 2 had its crown on the 4 o clock instead of 3 I reckon it would look much nicer! And also.. it might be blasphemous, but I do like the look of the 5KX over both!
Oh I think going purely on *looks* there is nothing wrong with saying the 5KX is better looking - they certainly improved the dial with applied indices.
Well, Ivan, I like the many different variations of the SRPD, have seen a few at the AD, but not worn any on wrist, and so I cannot tell about the bracelet. This I will say, though, that to me the SRPD is a genuine sports watch, not a diver’s watch, and most people probably will not miss the screw down crown that much. The SKX is the original diver’s watch, comparing these two is like comparing a SUV to a tank. I prefer the latter, nevertheless understand well why others may think differently
Thanks for the thoughts - not sure about the analogy of SUV vs tank though, as the Orient Ray may very well fulfil all the diver's ISO 6425 test requirements, hence perform the same capabilities as the SKX. I marked it less because it didn't go all the way to get the compliance measures, and the lume on the Seiko is slightly better.
SKX is king for the price category. However, its pushing north of AU$600 these days, and will probably be AU$1000 within a year or two once the old-new stock supply dries up.
Yeah you're probably right about those projections... unless of course if a real SKX replacement makes an appearance in the Prospex range!
@@PerthWAtch Yeah, but I don't think will do that for a while. They have the 5KX range, and that will be around for a good while imho.
Sometimes I think it was a blunder for Seiko to make the 5KX range, but it was probably necessary to push their Prospex range up the tiers like they have been doing recently. This trend will continue for the next year, even in this downward economy atm...
difficult to compare. if you look at the price that is only half of the seiko, the orient already won.
the orient still wins in every point. Processing, in-house movement, lume and the quality controll is much more sublime than at seiko.
not that the seiko is a bad watch, quite the contrary. but for that price, it would have to offer more.
Exactly , and that is why i bought a Heimdallr SKX for £150 ,nh36a ,ar coated sapphire crystal , that`s 2 up over the Seiko already plus its half the price ! i`m not suprised Seiko discontinued that range .......
Heimdallr and other micro-brands definitely do better on specs, but that's coz they simply have to, to compete. Seiko discontinued the SKX, and nearly immediately after gave us a 5 sports model with no Diver's credentials, and at a more expensive price point. Is that surprising?
As for comparison, I would say objectively:
- my prices were $140 and $200, so Orient is not "half of the Seiko"
- Seiko equal "processing" and better lume, case design, and brand name, so Orient definitely does not "wins in every point"
Cheers ;)
Good video. I personally prefer the looks of the Orient, and wouldn’t pay that money for a 7S26.
Thanks for the comment!
How much would you pay for a 7s26?
Orient Ray series is beautiful and suitable for Divers beginners to settle their money on. SKX is simply too ancient on 7s26. If you insist on the design, get a Islander instead.
Yeah the Islander is a pretty good alternative... the name is not to everyone's liking but the specs are undeniable.
Ray II or srpd/5kx? Any ideas?
See my SKX vs 5KX comparison for some thoughts perhaps?
Perth WAtch I've bought the srpd55k2, since I'm a desk diver 😅, I dont need the screw down, 200m water resistant rate and so on. Now I look foward to own one of the skx soon 👌🏻
Great! Let us know what you think once you get it.
I have a love affair with the SKX. It just looks so damn good. Who cares about a dumb movement? I want a watch that makes me feel good just looking at it. And what about the ISO certification?
Yeah man, I feel ya! :)
Perth WAtch Hey I like the channel. You do a good job!
I would always go with the Seiko SKX, proven big time, looks like a Divers watch should.
That red tip on second hand is not a good look and the sun ray looking dial looks like some Sort of Armitron, you can get at Walmart.
Hahaha interesting comment on the Orient! I believe those orange tips are used in many far more expensive Swiss models too!
Imo, the only thing the Orient is better in is the movement. More accurate and has hand winding hacking. I've owned both. Sold the ray 2, kept the 007.
Yeah fair enough point - personally I think the bracelet on the Orient is also better.
@@PerthWAtch yes you're right but strapcode bracelet is better for both I believe. . Also another point I never see mentioned is the lume application, colour. On the Seiko it's white in day time almost cream giving it a lovely classic vintage look contrast on black dial. The Orient is always green even in day time. This detracts from the overall look of the face.
That's interesting... can't say I recall looking closely, gonna have to check out my Orient in the daytime tomorrow!
The Orient RAY II is much better than the SKX and also more beautiful.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts
Good video but casio has an equal if not greater range.
And absolutely zero automatic 😂
@@PerthWAtch And your point? You mentioned range of watches, with no mention of type.
Casio is not relevant as the subject under consideration is automatic dive watches. Is that clear?
@@PerthWAtch Hahaha...calm down.
Hahaha sure 👍
The 0-10 scale needs work... If the quality of an Orient/Seiko is 8's, is an Oris Aquis a 10? Then what's a Rolex Sub, also 10? It makes it hard to compare across the spectrum. Doug Demuro is the master of this, he will praise a category then give it a 6 out of 10, because when you compare it to everything on the market you know where something actually stands. Not trying to nag, just trying to be helpful/constructive. I just recently purchased this Orient, I thought it was better value than the Seiko. 30% savings for: ISO cert (that I and 99% of the viewers will never need), the Seiko name, and marginal lume difference seemed like a no-brainer to me. Also, I prefer the Orient visually, but that's completely subjective.
1-10 scale for me, but you do make a good point. My marks shift a bit and it's very much a focus of the two watches in comparison, rather than across the entire spectrum (probably quite difficult to do unless I am sure I've seen the best there is to know what a 10 is, and the worst to give a 1).
I think you've highlighted the main differences between the watches, apart from the case design which (in my view) is certainly far more original on the Seiko than the rather generic one of the Orient.
I wouldn't buy either.
Mineral chrystals are not for me.
Orient Crown is poor.
Seiko non handwinding and for the money there are much better watches out there with all the features. Seiko is the better investment as there are so many fans out there who will pay top wack for them.
Orient Mako 111 can be bought from Germany with Sapphire and a reworked improved crown and a ceramic bezel. I was thinking of buying one for just over £300, but decided on a Sea-gull Ocean Star instead as I like a bigger watch with a 18000bph movement with a smooth sweeping second hand.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Neil - the Sea-Gull Ocean Star is a great choice I think!
Calibre should have been 8/6 and style the other way around as well as performance with the orient having a better movement. I own both and am wearing the orient as I type. It's less bulky and much prettier with the blue dial. The crown is a bit small though. It keeps slightly better time than my skx at 2 seconds a day.
I am thinking of trading it up to a triton, again in blue.
Thanks for sharing those thoughts - but I disagree strongly on performance. These are supposed to be divers and only one of these is ISO 6425 compliant. Style is subjective and fair enough if you think differently. My SKX keeps better time than my Ray II.
@@PerthWAtch Fair enough. What do you think about me trading an Orient blue ray 2 and a Tissot couturier for an Orient triton?
I would appreciate your opinion.
Not sure about that Tissot model, I’ve never had that one before
It's the orient for me
Orient rocks!
Citizen ny0040 is better than both in my opinion.
In what ways? It seems to be slightly more expensive.
@@PerthWAtch It's iso certified like the skx it can be hand wound, but doesn't hack though, slightly more accurate, It wears like a 40mm watch so If you have small wrist's it wears better than the skx and ray. even though they are the same size. I really love that it has 20mm lug width makes it even more comfortable, unfortunately it has bean discontinued just like the skx, but you can still buy it if you look around. I would love to see you review it if it's possible.
Thanks for taking the time to share those thoughts - I appreciate it!
Comparing apples and oranges .Should be M Force v Skx .You've put both these iso divers against non pro divers instead of each other
Nah, M Force is quite a bit more expensive and would loose out on the value alone... I would choose something else to compare that to.
@@PerthWAtch Here in the UK they are the same price actually .In fact I paid £225 for my good as new used M Force bravo exactly the same model you had .Cheapest skx on amazon is £320 .
They are both discontinued but Orient is rightly cheaper now and Seiko expect you to pay more lol
@@PerthWAtch Skx would get easily beaten by M Force in every department so I understand lol
Yes the M-Force would certainly out-perform the SKX in most aspects!
The SKX is ISO certified and the Orient is not. So the Orient cannot be used for diving.
Sure it can. Did you know that the Rolex Sub, Omega Seamaster, Breitling SuperOcean, Blancpain Fifty-Fathoms... you know it, none of the famous luxury Swiss divers are ISO certified ;)
@@PerthWAtch If you read the blurb for the Fifty Fathoms it says not suitable for diving without a dive computer. Sure the Orient will work, but the SKX is really the last of the tool watches.
Wrong... Seiko and other companies continue to make ISO 6425 compliant watches. The SKX is far far from being the last ;)
Orient has a better accuracy.
Sometimes... in this case the SKX was better
Seiko owns orient and is no longer affiliated with grand Seiko. The Mako 2 or Orient star maybe a better comparison.
Seiko watches does not own Orient.
@@PerthWAtch They do
Wrong.
@@PerthWAtch No
Wrong.
for now, seiko cost twice of a orient price
Ok 👍
Why would you buy either when you can get a San Martin with better specs and a better price, and in bronze.
I suppose some prefer original design and in-house manufacture with authorised repairers all over the world in case it's needed?
@@PerthWAtch I suppose, but I've never found Orient to be that original. And as neither had sapphire crystals, ceramic bezels, milled clasps, or ,I believe, solid end links, they both seem to lack features. Since San Martin uses NH35, ST5000, or the SW200 movements they are easily repaired or replaced. But this is what makes watch collecting fun and why there are so many watch channels on You Tube - we all have an opinion.
An Orient or an Islander. I'm not a fan of Seiko.
Sure!
Oh ffs! These watches have been reviewed and compared a million times!

i prefer the turtles
i bought the seiko srpc41k1 mini turtle. I like it a lot but only afterwards i noticed it had the r35 instead of the r36 -_-. Main reason for me buying it is i dont like the "sports" emblem on the new seiko 5's and that cheap carton box omg.. haha
@@NotstarvinMarvin not a fan of the mini ... I have 2 of the fullsize turtles ... though I have a 8.5 inch wrist so I need bigger watches
I thought pretty much all Seiko come in cheap carton boxes??
@@PerthWAtch I've got a couple that came in nice boxes though they were the ones with 6R15 movements
@@PerthWAtch I bought the padi one, they come in a better looking fake leather one -). You telling me the 1k+ Seiko ones also come in this cheap box lmao?
