jean claude had just told our hero that he didn't care who got hurt as long as his family was taken care of. liam was just making explicitly graphic to him what it feels like to be a victim of someone who doesn't care if even friends get hurt when it comes to his family's safety.

Liam Neeson used to be a substitute teacher... Took over a class with a bully who refused to show the substitute respect and sit down for class. William, as he went by back then, stood his ground and confronted the kid in class who then attacked Liam... Liam layed him out with one punch, I believe got fired for defending himself... Then got into acting. Such a crazy story.

Many people say Jean Claude's wife didn't deserve to be shot by Bryan. Maybe not, But the thing is, Bryan just found the dead body of his daughters friend in the same house where he found that dirt bag Marko as he electrocuted him to death. He was running out of time, and when he shot Jean Claude's wife, it was to show him how he's not messing around and he'll do anything to get his daughter back.
Plus, it's Jean Claude's own fault for being involved in this horrible business.

Another side effect of that shooting was that Jean Claude would now be forced to tell his wife why she was shot and she would very likely leave him.

    • @jerryward3311
      @jerryward3311 4 дня назад +9

@jerryrpettus1926 if he shot Jean Claude the wife would feel sympathy for him and possibly not question why. Shooting her will upset her a whole lot and would definitely leave him. That level of thought in the script is overlooked in what people see as an action flick. Btw cool first name.

Maggie Grace who played Kimmy was on LOST for a couple seasons and this came out after it, so I knew who she was already. I think she brought what she did on LOST to this film. Such a performance. This was the first movie, I think that really had LIam Neeson as a gritty action hero. I know he was in The Phantom Menace but that's more fantasy action. He just goes on to do so many roles like this now and I'm sure people are like, really? the dude from Schindler's List?

Brian was down to probably less than 48 hours. With that in mind Jean Claude's wife got off easy considering Jean Claude knew the whole time and could have told him. Men like Jean Claude don't care if you hurt them or at the very least will be able to hold out much longer before talking thus wasting more time. Brian didn't have time to mess around.

But jesus the daugther is just bereft of a brain in this one.. 16 or no (even though the actress and the one that plays her friend are well into their 20s), some common sense should be involved..

40.3 million go missing every year to human trafficking. To answer your question, theses heroes do the job and sleep due to exhaustion, also if you work hard, you play hard. But at the end, when you retire, it for the most part catches up to you and get insomnia as you will see in Equalizer. I will not say more to not spoil the movie. You are human and like all heroes, you are only a hero "in the moment" afterwards you shake, shiver and, sweat like every other human. You just learn to temporarily turn it off till objective is completed and alone and in private, you cope however you can. I like how you two, despite the anxiety the movie causes you are both clear enough to ask the right questions.

As far as how hard you have to hit someone to knock them out it depends on where you hit them, how you them, and how hard. If you hit areas like the base of the skull it doesn't take much at all.

One of my favorite Liam Neeson movies, and an all-around classic action thrill ride... the rest of the movies in the trilogy pale in comparison to how AMAZING this first entry is... Great movie

Making a threat wouldn't have worked on Jean-Claude. He was a seasoned agent. Shooting the wife showed him that Brian meant business.

I grew up watching the James Bond movies and, while I enjoyed them as a whole, I could never get past how unrealistic they were. Taken was the first movie I've seen that took a realistic approach to how someone who is trained at that high of a level would fight. There are no scenes where he shoots a hundred times and hits his enemy once, 10 minute long hand to hand fights, etc. Just brutal takedowns in a matter of seconds. That's exactly how someone with that amount of training would do it unless they were up against someone of equal training. It happens that fast in real life. Liam Neeson did a phenomenal job in both the physicality and the drama of the role. I hope you both check out the sequels Taken 2 and Taken 3.

There is NOTHING, and I mean absolutely NOTHING realistic about any of this lmao this is an old man who would get stomped out in the first fight 😭😭😭

"I had another Liam Neeson nightmare. I kidnapped his daughter and he just wasn't having it.
They made **** of those movies. At some point you have to wonder if he's just a bad parent."

    Spider-Girl (Penelope Parker)
    Spider-Monkey

Maggie Grace was outstanding in the entire franchise, Maggie was actually 25 in first Taken.
    Spoiler.
She deserved to take over from Liam. Which was planned for Taken 4 with Liam as supporting but T4 fell through.

18:27 Then you would have loved me in high school, Jen. If I hadn't been able to convince the disciplinary faculty that I didn't comprehend the policy on wearing...band T-shirts (whereas all that would have been necessary to expose the whole thing was for them to have asked anybody about my academic record), I would have been expelled long before graduation.
