I have one of those. Get you a 4x8 sheet of shower board, very slick stuff and lay it in the bed and run the unloader fabric on top. I have moved 2 Ton- 4000 pounds of rock, easy peasy.
@@jamesmarkkonstruction6742 Hey Bro, enjoyed the video. Let me know what you think after you try it. Depending on how long your bed is, you may have to buy 2 sheets as it needs to go from back all the way to end of tailgate.
Two other improvements. Buy a cheap harbor freight tarp, to go onto bed first, spray a can using silicone spray onto bed and tarp! It will become more slippery and easier to move the load!
Thanks mate! Mine didn't come with instructions so your video was invaluable. Managed to get my stone unloaded without the modification but it's a close thing, I'll be copying your method for that as well. Thanks again!
Hi jonaseddy729, I really appreciate the great comment. It certainly makes video creation worth it. Thank you for watching and have a great day!!! Jimmy
Had the exact same problem and almost the exact same fix. Instead of putting a piece of pipe inside the original flimsy one, I replaced it with a solid steel 1" bar. I also had to make a couple diagonal pieces to wedge between the tailgate and the box. The bumper strap wasn't strong enough.
Hey Dave, Thank you for the response. I bet you could, however, it will depend on your load and how much leverage you can maintain on the impact gun. You might need an extension on the handle of your impact gun. Good luck and let me know how you make out.
Great fix! I'm wondering to save your back are you able to get a socket fabricated to the handle end so you could attach a milwaukee drill for quick unload?
Hey Fritz, That suggestion seems to be popular, I would use some caution due to the amount of torque required to turn the handle. The Drill sure might try to break your wrist unless you have a long handle on the drill. Thanks so much for watching. Have a great day. Jimmy
Needs more likes! I have this tool and it does work. It's not perfect, but what is? Today, it took my old body way more than 60 minutes to unload 1 yard of soil. I should have used this tool.
Hey Charles, Thank you so much for watching. I really appreciate it! Yep, I still use this whenever I can, my old body appreciates it as well. Have a great Day. Jimmy
Hey blitzegron4848, Thanks for the comment, You have hit on a very popular upgrade from quite a few people. Sounds like a great idea. maybe I will add this and put it out. Thanks so much for watching and have a great day. Jimmy
Nicely Done! Got to get me one of these and replace the pole with he black pipe. 2000lbs...huh? I might be able to get my Mother in Law out of the bed withe that then!. Nicely Done!!!! Thanks much!!!!!
I have to weld another short piece of pipe to mine to get the handle to clear the truck so I wouldn't hit my hand with the crank handle against the bumper. Mine was a little too close. I used a piece of thicker wall tubing so the hold would be stronger and not strip out like the original one did. And I found if you have a plastic bed liner, the unloader works a hell of alot better because it slides easier than against the rough uneven metal of a truck box.
Hey PainterD54, Thanks for the great comment, those are great additions. Yes, the surface under the unloader does make a big difference, you're right. Thanks again for watching and have a great day!! Jimmy
Had one of these I cut down put on a Toyota 4x4 pickup worked okay. I wouldn't put it on a pickup you care about rough on the tailgate also doesn't slide well on a bed that has a spray in liner. I had a plastic liner it worked good because it slid I decided later to just build a dump trailer that holds about 7500 lbs. I have 3/4 ton Ram Diesel tows it easy. When I had that little toyota pickup I used to move gravel in it have the guy fill it until the rubber stops were 1" from the rear axle. Probably over loaded but I only had to go a few miles on surface streets drove slow.
Hi Hey yo, Thanks so much for watching. Great Question. No, No dents They do not even scratch the paint. There are pads on the inside to protect the finish. Have a great day. Jimmy
@@jamesmarkkonstruction6742 thanks for replying. I will buy one and i will insert 3/4 black pipe to make it more stronger and no more bending of the pipe. Try buy one 4x8 plastic panel at home depot so the canvass will just slide easily even with more loads on top.
Hi Hey Yo, Sorry I missed this follow up. I wish you the best of luck with this. I also use these truck bed side fillers to help with the unloading process ruclips.net/video/1PcV3yfZdPY/видео.html, see if you like them. Thank you again Jimmy
Hey kirkkramer2412 , Thank you for watching. You are in good company, quite a few have mentioned using a impact gun or something like that. As you may have noticed, depending on the weight. in the bed, it does require a lot of torque. let me know if you are able to adapt this with an impact gun. have a great day, Jimmy.
Hey chugger22, Thanks for the comment, yes, you're right, it does work great. just be sure to keep any material out from in front of the wheel wells. Here is a video on how I do that, ruclips.net/video/1PcV3yfZdPY/видео.html. Thanks again for watchin and have a great day!! Jimmy
Hey byrdz , Thank you for watching and for the suggestion. You are in good company with quite a a few others that have suggested that. Thanks again and have a great day, Jimmy
The next step is to find a way to use a drill or hammer driver to turn the wrapping rod. You need quite a bot of torque, so you'd have to have a reducing gear or something. Boy, that would be nice.
Since I see you have a mill at your disposal. It looks like you need to make yourself a longer handle or a couple reduction gears to make it easier for you. Plus i would put a tarp down before I would put something as fine as dirt in the tailgate. That way you dont have to dig out your truck bed around your your wheelwells. Also I woudnt want to be the one following you as dirt falls thru the cracks of the bed. That if a rock falls and cracks my whidsheild you can be sure ur that I will have your insurance buyvme a new one.
Hey David, Thanks for watching. You're right, That's why I own two dump trucks. Not everyone can afford a dump bed and this is the only truck that can fit into tight spots on some jobs. Dump beds cost between $1500 and $5000 this costs $50. Thank you for the comment. Have a great day, Jimmy
Hey Dan Thanks for watching I really appreciate it, You may have noticed the invoice shown in the video showing 1.06 tons from the scale, that comes from their one yard bucket machine. Here is what I found direct from google "One cubic yard of dry dirt weighs about 1,944 pounds or 0.97 US tons, based on a density of 72 lb/ft³.Jun 28, 2022". So it also depends on what type of dirt you are talking about, the video used topsoil. Thanks for the comment and have a great day
Hi eternalbeing3339, Thank you for watching and for the comment. looks can be deceiving, as the video suggests, the roller rod needs reinforcing but the rest will perform as suggested. For the price it will definitely beat shoveling out the back of your truck. Thanks and have a great day. Jimmy

My truck has a plastic bed liner, and it seemed to unload a yard of gravel easier and the stock bar didnt bend like that. Nice video.
