Why not make this out of a cut-up plastic chopping board? That way you can simply toss it into a dishwasher or a sink of hot water to clean it after use.

Another 18 minutes Of my life wasted I’m never getting them back
First of all I wouldn't waste all that time making one when you can buy a decent metal one for 10 to $20 and I'm guessing you spent more than that making that one if you count your time probably cost more even without your time nowadays. The second thing is you should not make anything out of wood when you're dealing with meat or any other food because it collects bacteria that will make you sick eventually and even can cause you some medical issues or worse. In my opinion 10 or $20 for an expertly made Metal one is a much better product to use this is a waste of time.

You make it instead of buying it to keep that 10 or 20 bucks in your pocket. There's also a pride of using something you created with your own hands. My grandmother made thousands of hamburgers with her wooden burger press over a lifetime. None of us got sick. Ever. Love the video, man!
