This autobahn burner is packing a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 with 396 hp. A fast-shifting nine-speed automatic shoots that power to the road via 4MATIC all-wheel drive. Mercedes estimates a 0-60 time of 4.5 seconds; top speed is 155 mph. The interior has front sport seats and red stitching throughout; red seatbelts make for maximum redness. An air suspension imbues the ride and handling with the right mix of sport and comfort.
As Mercedes-Benz launches its first upmarket variant of the all-new E-class sedan, that new car, the E43, continues to usher in a new era for AMG as well. Previously, AMG models were always the autobahn-inhaling, uncompromised hot rods of the range. Those cars still exist, denoted by their “63” or “65” nomenclature. Now, however, the mid-level sport versions also are adapting the AMG moniker, with the lesser number “43.” Already, there’s a Mercedes-AMG SLC43 roadster and GLE43 crossover coupe, with a C43 sedan, coupe, and convertible, plus a GLC43 crossover and crossover coupe all launching soon-not to mention the four-cylinder “45” AMGs, the CLA and the GLA.
All AMG 43 cars use a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6, which makes 362 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque in the models that have already been released. For the E43, Affalterbach fitted larger turbos to coax out another 34 horsepower.

i wonder if these are more comfy than the special amg sport seats ? you pay around let's say 3.000$ for sport amg seats which are not heated nor ventilated so this is my question are they really worth buying because regular seats seem much more comfy.

@@MarchedYeti96 Very well balanced car. I've driven it up to Canada 10+ times. Only one part has failed and it was a rubber piece for the differential. Maintenance is way more expensive than I was expecting. Great sounding exhaust for a V6 when in sport+ mode.

@@MarchedYeti96 Even though it's been reliable for me I don't plan to own outside warranty. I got 1 year cpo and paid for 2 years extended. That runs out later this year. Going to trade it in.

Beautiful from the front, but the back is kind of ugly. Overall this is a great car. I wish they produce the Coupe version of the E43 soon. BTW, thanks for the great review. Do you know if Mercedes is planning for a Coupe model?

It looks good in person. Rear is the worst angle but is still nice. Lights have a good detail to them that doesn't show up in video.

Your HP stats are wrong. Last E55 that I had was underrated at 469 HP and 516 TQ and was a quarter mile slayer. Unless you're referring to an E55 from the 90s and then why would you go there? Also, yes, the price point puts this below an E63, but this is a run of the mill engine on a car that under performs against S6 and M550Xi while costing more. I got tired of MB slapping AMG stickers on all their cars and after trading in my ML63s I got a brand new CTS-V. Now the V reminds me how I felt about my E55. These 43s are a marketing joke.
