My sister in law apologised because the first ever time I held my niece (which was only three months ago at a few days old) she cried and I being new around babies in general and definitely around newborns handed her back immediately. Like honey no, that's not your fault, that's not my niece's fault, that's not my fault. It just happened. Sometimes babies cry, and we don't always know why. My Nan who was also visiting at the time managed to sooth her with great skill, but she's had 4 kids. Edit: Just wanted to mention I held her again a little while later after she'd had a nap and it was magical, she was so little. A few days ago she smiled while I talked to her. While she's growing and learning about life I'm learning how to be an aunt and I feel so lucky, she's so precious.

Sometimes I’m like “can I deal with that?” and the answer is always no so then I feel confident in my decision to be child free. It’s not embarrassing to be a parent especially around other people who aren’t there yet or child free.

That’s how I feel but I have kids! Usually order take out or curbside or drive tru for the first two years of each baby… but usually I stay home and cook. And try to always go out after feeding and naps so they’ll be the happiness and least irritated if we do have to go out for over an hour .
It’s really crazy because I actually like kids that fuss and scream at a restaurant because it allows me to know that I am alive and being 68 years old I wish I could do the same thing in the restaurant but I will end up being arrested, going to jail or spending a little time on the seventh floor with no shoelaces or a belt.😂
