  • Interested in self filming your hunts? You're going to want a good camera arm.
In this video I'm reviewing the Out On A Limb Reach camera arm and the Fourth Arrow Talon Micro Camera Arm.
I like both of them. If I have to pick a winner, I'll pick the 4th Arrow, but both are good. I like the weight of the Reach, but the function of the Talon. At the end of the day, form follows function in this battle.

I received my talon this week, huge upgrade from my $30 Muddy arm and diy mods that it received. I agree the ratchet straps are junk. I order the eastern outdoor cam over strap yesterday.

If I put a Sony RX-10 mark III on that Assassin Reach I can adjust the tilt to keep it to keep it from sagging. I bought stealth strips & a different strap b4 it arrived. I like invisibility & stealth & even if the 4th Arrow is more robust I'm still going to go to the lower profile. By the way, your pole looks as nice as the day u installed it😉

Had the same issue with my out on a limb not being level. You aren't alone.

Hunting 20 years this year and just bought the muddy arm for first season filming. Lol. When I upgrade, the Talon it will be. My camera is small, so anxious to see how fast I upgrade

Would you happen to know the name of that video from DIY sportsman regarding the strap mods you mentioned? I didn’t notice anything from him on that. Thanks!

I wonder how it would be with my dslr plus lense? I'm assuming the length of mine is probably around what you use if not a little longer. Thanks for the vid, I'm using more than a GoPro this year and didn't know which was worth it.

Thought about getting the new fourth arrow talon but fell in love with the lonewolf pocket arm at the ATA. No ratchet. No base. Super packable. Hope some more companies make some companies start making baseless and ratchetless arms.

I saw it at ATA and it didn't look very useful. You like it?

How does it work on a crooked tree or limb? I am curious because all of the vids and pics I viewed looked like it wasn't capable of being leveled on crooked surface.

Do you have a recommendation for a good entry level video camera (like $400ish range)? I have a canon rebel T7 but it doesnt have the ability for an external mic.

I'd have to go with the Reach. A pound lighter is a big deal in itself. That's like carrying one less climbing stick. I'm also wary of the 4th Arrow's arm design. There's no way to swing the camera around 360 degrees. That's another big deal imo.

    • @G2Outdoors

I completely agree with the weight. 1lb is a HUGE deal. I would have stuck with the OOAL Reach if I could have gotten it to work with my camera. Not quite understanding your second point. The 4th Arrow Talon is 27" from the tree. The OOAL Reach is 24" from the tree. They're basically the same as far as reach from the tree. I don't think either offers an advantage when it comes to swinging around the tree.

The Reach is a stacked three arm design. The last arm can swing over the other two. You can't do that with the Talon. To me that would get annoying when going from one side of the tree to the other. Also you have the old Reach base. I think the new base eliminates the leveling issues.
