I love watching someone who’s talented and knows their craft - chef, musician, etc. Steve is that caliber of a plumber. Good stuff here boys. Learn a thing or two..
Steve is the man the master of his work/trade. He is straight with the customer all the way from his work to his persona " I dont like cuttin corners" as Steve told the customer. That is something you dont hear or see very often in today's world.
You should write a plumbing and hvac book for people who are in the trade. Each chapter would cover what you know about each system(s). I think you have the following to sell it.
We use a Rigid threader at work . We have wheel attachment for it so if you need to move it you can roll it. Yoru style is definitely lighter. A tip we have noticed is after you cut the pipe and deburr it we use an angle grinder with a flap disc to smooth out the outside of the pipe before threading it. It make a much nicer edge on the thread. You do great work Steve I really enjoy watching your videos.
Whenever I go above with an oil line I use a duplex fitting off the top of the tank with a feed and return line so it’s less likely to get air in the line . Also it’s less likely to get sludge build up when you use the duplex method since you have the ability to keep the lines off the bottom of the tank .
They don't make them anymore, like an Eisenhower 1972 dollar coin. I have a hand kit for that but it only goes up to 1" the dyes. iron piped under house, all my own through wall propane heaters. that's a big job! enjoyed.
North America pre-world War II, all domestic water in a house was galvanized steel pipe cut to length and threaded. Then copper what a time savings, now pecks. And labor time is the bottom line. Our area black steel pipe is still mandatory for gas.
Funny, I just removed my tank after a heat pump install. What a crap shoot. Bastard had way more oil than the gauge read. Not to mention the gunk. Had to cut it in three pieces.
i use only a sawzall with a 18 teeth per inch blade .. probley need 5 blades or so ........anything else might set the tank oil / muck in bottom of tank on fire and burn down the house
supposedly they claim the vent has to be as big as the fill so it does not build up pressure when filling I can't believe that it builds up pressure because of pipe size the whistle on the vent is more of a restriction than the pipe is and gas flows out easier than liquid flows in. plus the hose from oil company is not that big what do they use 1 inch or maybe 1 1/4 anyway on cars the vent is tiny compared to the fill pipe
Hi Steve, where i live, we are not allowed to have oil tanks in our houses, they have to be outside the house, an they have to insulated so they won't cause a leak to the enviroment. Wow, that is a beast, holds lots of oil, did you have enough barrels to hold all that oil.
around here they want people to have tank indoors, so it won't leak into ground unnoticed and avoids freezing of water in fuel or gelling of fuel in winter.
That is a lot of friggin work for one guy. Steve you make it look easy.

Steve is MUCH younger than that!
@gvnumber3200 In Mind and Soul but actually he's 58. He said it in a few of his videos

This makes me thankful we have natural gas here!
You may need a "Tiger Loop". Because of the over head line.
damn Steve your kicking ass and taking names.... pro with a lot of experience... Nice job!!!!!

Great job Steve, nice and neat.
Hi Steve Good looking job. Was wondering if a double walled oil tank was an option. Some towns here on the Cape require those be replacements.
Good job Steve they can be a pain in the butt sometimes

Damn ..... That was a lot of manual labor Steve !!! Hardest that I have seen you work (in a video, yet ....) NICE Professional job 👌👍👍👍👍
What did u cut the old tank with? Angle grinder? And did u use kitty litter to absorb the oil residue to prevent fire starting from sparks ?
Sawzall, looks like (saw it in the background in the video ....)
That oil line would be sweet inside conduit underground provided code and money allow. Sweet knowledge. Thx
Steve is a genius a what he does..super great..
Nice work, Steve!
Long day after that 1. Good job well done. Hi to Miss Molly.
Nice job, Steve.
After watching this entire job, I retract all my complaining about having to change out my 40 gal water heater.
Funny, I just removed my tank after a heat pump install. What a crap shoot. Bastard had way more oil than the gauge read. Not to mention the gunk. Had to cut it in three pieces.
Great job Steve.
Can you use plastic tanks for heating oil?
Plastic tanks? For what?
@@drewmurphy2796 Like those tanks farmers use to store chemicals for spraying. Won't rust like steel.
@@Parkhill57 pretty sure the tank has to be ul certified or whatever: that’s why we use the steel/ Roth tanks
@@drewmurphy2796 Looks like Roth tanks are plastic tanks with a galvanized steel outside. So-called double wall.
@@Parkhill57 correct but they are designed to hold oil and in the event of a leak contains the oil. Where as just a regular plastic Chem tank is not.
What does a job like this cost? I am looking at having this done. Nicely done Steve!
Steve must be high from the fumes . Very talkative 😅
The fumes are what get ya going gives you a sort of pick me up in your step.
I got a question Massachusetts oil tanks bytecode to In-N-Out with a whistle
Good setup for a tiger loop
Steven, i think you got the customer nervous when you where talking about lube and swingers. lol
good days work for one man!!!
Steve giving lessons if the customer gonna stand around and chat.
Nice job Steve
Great video !!! thanks
Im curious as to why you ream the inside of those pipes but not copper pipes.
Cos it’s easy when the machine does all the work
De-burs the pipe, ... No lose metal to end up in the tank, or fuel line, down the road ........
Steven, what do you use to cut the old tank up with? 🤔
sawzall mama!
Grinder with cutting wheels and a sawzall
i use only a sawzall with a 18 teeth per inch blade .. probley need 5 blades or so ........anything else might set the tank oil / muck in bottom of tank on fire and burn down the house
Is the oil basically diesel or kerosene?
Diesel
Miss you miss Molly
That was a big job hope good $$$$
Steve in his element!
good job, txs for sharing...

Furnace oil is brutal! I remember I had mine taken out. A couple drops went on a shelf. Until I found it the basement stunk like crap.
Although, I still love the feel of oil heat. It’s a nicer heat than natural gas.
Howdy Steve and Molly
