    Every onsite I visit as an Incident response consultant. the companies local admin is the same on every workstation. I always thought it was too easy for TAs

      It's an unfortunate truth that so many companies don't use unique local admin creds

    What if the backup servers are encrypted and offline?

      If the backup servers were offline, then the attackers would not have been able to access them. It is a trade off between availability and security. Offline backups may take longer to restore than having them offline.
