Hey, Jenny! I just accomplished Round 1 of my house decluttering. My daughter has a thrift/consignment store, and she recently came to visit from out of town, and went back home with a car full of donations, mainly a lot of clothes and some kitchen items. I'm the oldest of 4 children. My brother is 1.5 years younger than me. He is retired and lives in Vieques, PR. My sister is 6 years younger than me and lives in Cave Creek, AZ. My youngest sister died when she was 31. It's hard to get rid of sentimental items. Not only do I have my children's baby books, but I have my own baby book. I don't think I'll ever part with any of them! Thanks for continuing to show us what a difference it makes when we keep working at creating calm in our homes!

Love the idea of including a picture of you reading the book with your child when you save that book as a keepsake. So sweet. My parents and my husband's parents both saved some of our clothes and our kids have worn them too. I love it. My mom saved the dresses she made for me, we both have our blessing (similar to christening) outfits, and some other nice items. I'll definitely be doing the same. Decluttering baby stuff is hard, especially when you wish you'd be having more kids.
If you want to keep the old blue LEGO bin for something, I've used packing tape with great success to fix that kind of hole.

Welcome back. We had 4 of us, all girls. I'm number 2 on the totem pole. My baby sister lives in Indiana. I'm in the South! Still a little too cool to run around outside barefoot, but only a few more days. Tomorrow is Mardi Gras, so I take my coat out of the car on Wednesday! Southern weather changes to frequently between Thanksgiving & Mardi Gras. lol. I've been decluttering kid books. I brought many to my granddauhters, and those my daughter didn't want have been going into gift packages for baby showers. Next comes the kid novels, American Girl & Nancy Drew. I'll keep them for a few more years.

Hi Jenny! I just finished watching your last decluttering video and I loved it! I also loved the question you ask about our siblings! I am one of 5 children! My older brother is about 13 years older than me and my older sister is 11 years older than me. Then I had a brother who has passes away and he was 9 years older than Mr! Then there is me and I was the baby for 10 years until my younger brother came along! So that's my sibling story! I love you and I Can't Wait for your Spring Cleaning Videos!❤️🌻🌹💐🌼

Hi Jenny! Once again another great inspirational video! I love that you share your thought processes and what to save vs declutter, esp sentimental items. I sometimes have difficulty deciding what to save and what to let go when it comes to family items. The younger generation doesn't always value what my generation values. But I still save most of the photos and albums I inherited from my parents. Fortunately, my mom often wrote on the backs of photos who the people were! If my brother and I don't know who the people are, I figure the younger generation won't either, so they go out or I use them for mixed media projects!
My brother is my only sibling. He's 2 years older, is married, lives in the Florida Keys and has one son (married and lives near San Francisco) and 3 stepsons (scattered in midwest and East Coast... for now! They were even more scattered 2 years ago).
Glad you're better and back! I love watching your videos! They have a soothing effect on me as well as giving me great food for thought and motivational ideas! Have a wonderful week! Gail

Where I’m from it was traditional to have a special outfit to bring baby home from the hospital. You would dress the baby up in his or her going
home outfit and the other mothers and staff would come to admire the baby in its best going home clothes. That really made it easy for when you needed to choose what to keep later. Of course it was the outfit and a few other things Easy!

Hi Jenny, I’m fairly new to your channel. I’m an only child, which has its pros and cons. Lately as my parents are getting older, I find myself wishing I had someone to share hard decisions and life with after they are gone.
It’s funny how people are so different… my kids’ baby stuff isn’t as sentimental to me. My mom kept almost everything of mine, but I only kept a few things from each of my 3 kids. That said, I do regret a few things I got rid of too quickly! I am wanting to make them each a shadow box with their baby items for display.

I am the eldest member of my family, i had a brother but he died about 12 years ago i have three sisters and they are all married with kids of their own, I have three children that are now out in the world one of my children has two beautiful little girls whom we love to bits my daughter got engaged two years ago on Christmas Day, my youngest son just got engaged this year on my birthday January 2023 and my eldest son works in construction and maybe one day he will surprise us with a new lady in his life. I lost my parents back in 2019 , we lost Mum in February of that year and we lost our dad just before Christmas the same year so that was a very difficult year for us. My siblings all live in the UK in fact i am the only one of my family in Canada with my family. I have a husband we have been together now for over 30 years my husband spent his life working in the British and Canadian navy then he remustered to the Airforce he is now retired from the service and works the same job as what he had in the military as a civilian now working for the Canadian government. I love living here in Canada its is great there is so much diversity here the countryside is calling my name right now and we are in the process of decluttering and going to get our house ready for selling in the not too distant future, that way i can have a place to put a horse, horses have been my passion since i first saw one at the age of 5 years old and they still are today. i had a horse that had one foot in the grave when i bought him and he was in such bad shape he was covered in mites so in the dead of winter we had to give him a full body shave to get rid of them he had to wear two winter rugs with a neck piece to it, his hooves were a mess he looked like he had elf feet, his teeth had never been floated which in simple terms his teeth had never seen a dentist and was getting sores in his mouth and had completely stopped eating Unlike humans horses teeth keep growing so periodically they have to be filed down and sometimes teeth like their wolf teeth need to be broken off or removed completely other wise the wolf teeth are like dogs teeth two up two down if they get too big they can cross over one another and that can cause really bad pain in the horses mouth and sometimes they can get food stuck and cause ulcers or sores inside the mouth my poor Phoenix was a good horse he didn't deserve the neglect he received by his last three owners, He used to be a stud and an excellent show horse he was gorgeous with his first owners. i pour my life's savings into him to help him start eating again he was about 17 years old he was a paint Quarter horse and he was low in the pecking order in the herd he was with he has the most stunning pair of blue eyes. i had had him 8 months when he had a neurological episode is what the vet told me they had to put him down his quality of life wouldn't have been very good and i couldn't live with that. i just wished they had contacted me earlier before they did it so i could say goodbye to him so i was devastated and all i have left of him is some of his beautiful tail hair. i had just started riding him light duties nothing like trail rides just around the arena a couple of times to help his muscles to get back in some kind of shape. I suffer with Fibromyalgia, Inflammatory bowel disease Anxiety depression i have been fighting Mental health issues all my life from a young age I also have Arrhythmia SVT and bradycardia. SVT is a fast heart beat mine went from normal rhythm to 236 beats per minute which is not normal and sometimes it can put stress on your heart and Bradycardia is the slow heart beat i have had my heart rate drop to 35 to 40 beats per minute so again stress on the heart, i had a procedure done to try and fix the problem but it still happens just less frequently than i had before. I have been retired now for about 10 years or so now with all the health issues i have my Doctor told me to take early retirement due to health issues. well i think i have bored you enough about my life. I am enjoying this dare to declutter series. i find it hard to get motivated these days but having a place in the country is all the encouragement i need somewhere to put a horse or two teach my Grand daughters how to treat a horse and look after them properly and ride properly in natural horsemanship is my goal and if they want to go to shows i will not have a problem with that either. Well i look forward to your next video so far i have gone through all the rooms in my house got rid of 15 bags of donations and two boxes of recyclables and half a bag of garbage i am ready for round two of decluttering. wish me luck.

These things may be sentimental to you but I can tell you from experience that they will not be to your children when they become adults. If you are honest with yourself & understand that it is you who cannot part with these things then maybe you could address this issue.
