What I'm wearing:
Top: Forever 21
Necklace: H &M Хобби
See the first braid she made at 1:52? That's all the hair I have...
Damla Hoca If you use some a thickening product, it will definitely help.
+Confessions of a Hairstylist can u plz suggest some thickening products?
+Damla Hoca You and 90% of other human beings.
Right? Haha I wish I had enough hair to do all these cool designs
+Damla Hoca lol. me too. sadness.
Her: "Pancake the hair"
Me: -reaches for the maple syrup-
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
You make it look too easy!! My brain totally understands but my hands are dyslexic.
Same here!!!
Larah McKay Haha. I feel you! It looks easy but when your the one who's doing it, its kinda hard.
Larah McKay .
Jajajaja same

I did this hairstyle on myself for my wedding. I got so many compliments and kept getting asked who did my hair :)
Love this channel!
I would like to do it at my wedding too! Did you wear a veil too? If so, where did you attach it? Just on top of the bun?
Laura Elena Haha! I just realized 3 years later I was on my husbands account 😂 But I didn’t do a veil. I wore a flower crown
@@roor26lux26 haha noticed this too and envisioned a glorious man named josh as a glowing goddess on his big day,
Impressive you can Dutch braid your own hair! I have so many bumps when I try!!!
This hairstyle reminds me of a 1930's woman who rides her vintage bicycle to a journalism office.
+Maria Persson haha Totally! xo
I love your work.
Thank you so much!
Yeeesss!!! Totally!
Vintage clothing wearer here: you are so right and I so need to try this hairstyle now! =)
"...gives it a modern look" I'm like nah that's a WWII-type style...I guess what's old is trendy again (some things at least lol) 😂🙂
Me: wow that looks kinda vintage and pretty
Her: It’s really modern and trendy
Well ok then
Also when she said 'editorial'?? Why are you bringing illustration/photography into this???
Um, vintage doesn't refer completely to photography or illustrations. It's usually referring to about the 30's, but can mean anything really prior to mondern, many would say anything prior to the 50's.
It's funny because women have been braiding their hair like this for centuries probably lol
@@katechaste she means making fashun
Been a professional hairstylist for a long time, i know what I know! :)
A 360 degree angle view would have been nice...
So easy. All you need is...ridiculously thick hair , hair clips, bobby pins , mini elastics, and a professional hair stylist to do it for you
yep, I probably don't have even half her hair!
All I could think while watching this video is that I would legit give up a limb for that kind of strand density and volume.
All my hair was the first braid she done xd
🙄🙄🙄
Yeah this is definitely a look that would be hard to do on yourself
they never showed what it looked like from the front.
+Coach Aponte Its because it only looks good from the sides. I'd take out a few short hairs/bangs to frame the face.
+Nathalie A. What's the point of a hairstyle that only looks good from the sides?
Heather Harris
Exactly
+Heather Harris That's what I think every time I see hairstyles with just side or back views. I try it on myself and it looks like shit in the front.
Jamine Aponte yhjjfuufguhml
This has been the MOST helpful Dutch updo tutorial I’ve seen, I braid my hair all the time but this added so much simplicity to the style.
Hey, Jenny! Thank you for this video. I used this hairstyle (minus the pancaking) for two days of soooo much scuba diving and it kept my hair safe from snagging and tangling (I have fine but very curly hair). The bun is also great at acting as a “stopper” for my dive mask strap. It’s not only very pretty, but it also has great utility!
She has a TON of hair! I wish my hair was that thick!!
Julie Kozlowski no you don’t lol it’s horrible to take care of and it’s hot and sticky and most days you really just don’t have the energy to do anything with it
Ajha Farrow Exactly! Not too thin not too thick but just right would be nice.
I have hair that thick and I dont really need to even pancake it, its so thick.Plus curly too. It's a lot of work heavy and I wish I had someone to style it every day. I guess we all want different than we have.
Its mostly hair density, you can have thick but few hair
@@alicericciardi7976 that would be coarse hair.
I dont get how people secure their hair with bobby pins??.... my hair wouldnt stay a sec with bobby pins it would just fall apart i literally need 100 hair bands to secure my hair, lol
Lucky Swiftie Same here! My pins just start laughing when they see all my hair.
Me too! I have extra thick and voluminous hair. The hairbands i use have the diameter of car tyres or else they break
Lucky Swiftie dear you should use hair spray to make you hair and bobby pins stable..
Yup... I've had my hair unravel in the middle of a workday!!
I have really thick hair, and to do styles like this you need to use A LOT of bobby pins, and don't try to get too much hair with each pin. It also just takes practice to work out how and where to use them to get maximum hold.
I am thrilled to see a gorgeous hairstyle 1) without extensions and 2) on hair that is not too long. Mine is slightly shorter then the model's, but I think I can still make this work.
I'm a little hair tutorial addict, and can i just say that you do an AMAZING job of explaining/showing what you are doing?!!!
I almost never see hair styles done on mid-length really thick hair like mine, so this was wonderful to watch! Usually it's "add x number of extensions and 5 million texturizing sprays".
omg she has more hair on one third of her head than I on my whole head :D very beautiful
sangXroyal haha she has so much hair!
I’m so excited to try this out before work today! I can do pigtail Dutch braids easily so I feel like I might be able to pull this off 🙃 Thanks!
Tbh, this is what i've been looking for since ages. The first tutorial that you actually understand and that's easy to do. All the others are so complicated.
I love how you make all of this look so simple, this is the first hairstyle that actually works for me to make, thank you!
I thought I had thick hair untill I watched this video. This is like other level of thick hair :(
totally!
Confessions of a Hairstylist gorgeous work, btw!
Lol you haven't seen mine 😂😂😂
Kei Kaze You have thicker like that? I used to have it in highschool but idk why but now is not thick :( do u use something in particular?
Believe me her hair is nothing. I have enough hair for 3 person min.
even though i already know how to do a dutch braid, she explains things very well for those who are beginners. lovely finished look. my hair is three times her length so i would have to get creative with pinning mine.
+PLUM THUM Thank you so much! I try! xo
Legit, I’ve looked at so many of these, “how to braid…” videos, and this is the only one with clear explanations. Other videos just say, “-or something like this, el oh els!” Ugh… I couldn’t stand it anymore lol. Thank you for (finally!) a video that makes sense.
I've watched many hair tutorials where they try to explain how to make a dutch braid, but they did it too fast, or their hands were between the camera and the hair, so you weren't able to watch the braid properly. But you did it slow enough and explained it so well.
Thank you
+Heiri Calderón Yes! Thats what I like to hear! xo
Love this, you make it look so easy. Going to try this on my daughter who has mid length hair also......thanks for the great tutorial.
Either I'm obsessed with weddings, or this is a bridal look, I wanna put little white flowers and Swarovski crystal brooches on it, and of course a nice romantic veil
You're an AMAZING teacher. This is the video that taught me to do dutch braids. I'm so thankful.
This is definitely the best video I've seen for braid crowns. As a mid-length hair person, I can say this worked well.
love hw easy it is to follow very good instructions clear and simple no fuss .... tried it ......looked amazing
This is beyond beautiful! I want this to be my wedding hair! I hope I can find a hair stylist that can do this :)
Beautiful! I used to follow this channel with an old account of mine, and I'm so happy to have come across it again.
I like this style. I've been watching a lot of braiding and hair videos for ages now but this is very nice.
Such a clear explanation! Was finally able to dutch braid my hair!
***** Awesome!! How did it turn out?
This is soo gorgeous! (Before you pulled it too much at the end, then I didn’t like it anymore) please do a tutorial of this for long hair!
JENNY, MOST SINCERE THY! IVE BEEN HAIRSTYLIST SINCE 10 YEARS. LEARNED THE DUTCH BRAID IN SCHOOL, YET MY MIND WOULDNT COOPERATE. YOU MADE IT SO CLEAR AND FOCUSED TONIGHT. I DARED IT, I DID IT, WE SUCCEEDED IT! XXXX
WOW !!!! 😮
that's an amazing hairstyle..thank u so much for this! i tried this and it turned out to be so gorgeous..i love it
Love these super loose, big, fun or classy braids. It will definitely be useful and super kind when styling all of my fragile, soft curls 😘❤ - An all natural black girl
It's after 7 years but gosh I'm so impressed ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you!
This is the most wonderful tutorial I have ever se on Dutch braid. I am trying this
finally a hairstyle that is compatable with my mid-length to long super thick wavy hair! Gonna try it out.
I have very fine hair and also very little hair. Would it be possible to use extensions for more volume to create this look?
My braids "pancaked" don't even look as full as her normal ones :(
Curl your hair beforehand (alternatively leave braids in overnight and get curls that way) and or whip your hair back and forth and add product to keep the volume. Then your braids will look fuller
I love this look! I’m going to wear it on Valentine’s Day!
You are another of my Braid queens. THANK YOU SO SO MUCH FOR THIS
I'd love to do this with my hair. Unfortunately my curls laugh at such hairstyles.
You was right by saying you messed it up at the end! I loved the look of the end product when it was tight and really neat. Overall a great tutorial but I wish you could show someone doing this style to their own hair.
I liked it tight and I did like it softened with the first pull out. It was very feminine and soft. The last pull out, especially at the very back just ended up looking like a mess. 'Editorial? The last, to me, was 'comics'. The model has beautiful hair.
thank you so much for this. I have watched numerous videos in how to dutch braid and just couldn't get it. You did everything slow enough and explained everthing so well that I finally understand. :) Thanks again.
+Diane Sackett gah!!! Yes! Thats what I like to hear. Thanks for sharing and viewing! xo
this is so awesome, thank you so much , my hair is very thick and very , very long . Every summer I come to the point that I want to cut it , cos I really sweat like hell under it . Now I know, what to do with it AND how to look trendy also ! Ty !
I tried this and it's so easy. I made mine a little bit messy but it looks nice :) great tutorial
Awesome! so happy!
The model has magnificent thick hair (and she also has got a beautiful face). Actually, this is beautiful when you have that much hair. It’s obviously not suitable for flat, dull or too sparse hair.
You make everything really easy to follow, loving your hair styles tbh! Subscribed!
hoooly crap mind blown right now it looked so much more complicated at first glance. freaking amazing thanks so much
I cant pull on my hair that much lol it starts falling out.
It was looking good till u pulled it apart again at the end.
Thank you so so much omg I can finally ditch braid again I for some unknown reason forgot how to ditch and French braid I just kept twisting my hair everything I’m I tried to braid it I looked at endless tutorials and your finally explained it well thank you soo much💗✨
It's not an everyday thing but in some moments I regret that my hair is really long. This is one of these moments. Love this style
lol id like to see her do this on my thin hair
I would have liked to see what it looked like straight on, as if I were looking in the mirror having just followed the tutorial. Sure, it looks awesome on the side, but the front is the most important shot.
Sarah Dean Ill work on that! Its noted. With my videos the most dramatic look is the side.
@@Theconfessionsofahairstylist Thats not how hair tutorials work though. Are you really a hair stylist?
AMEN! Its to flatter the WOMAN and maje her look beautiful!
@@summergram im not even sure what you mean. Ive been a stylist for 18 years and published 3 books on hair tutorials. If you look at the date 2014 I was just working with a new video guy. I mean....its such a strange comment. lol
@@ddl4374 I teach to share people how to do the styles. and yes to flatter them you got that right
This is so pretty!!!! Thank you for this tutorial! I wish you would make one for really long hair though
So nice to see a hair tutorial with someone who has as much hair as me! Normally when I try styles the braids come out too thick to do the thing the person is saying to do 😂
she pulled it too much at the end and it wasnt too pretty coz u couldnt see the actual plait pattern
+Snapshot Atelier Its just a bit editorial. Not for everyone, just wanted to give a bit of diversity. Thanks for viewing. x
@@Theconfessionsofahairstylist Stop using buzzwords, what has "Diversity" got to do with this? Besides it's European hair..
@@heartcrafts3426 Diversity can be another word for variation or range
@@soleilsmith1130 Yeah, suppose you're right :)
Heart & Crafts “diversity” means “variety”, the word has nothing to do with race in this context, there are no “buzz words” here.
I don’t think I understand the European hair comment. European hair is very diverse, with many different thicknesses, textures, and the entire range of human hair colors.
Did she say "editorial" -- what does that mean in terms of hair?
Such a good question.
Like in a magazine? Like the big full print pages in high fashion magazines or, fashion shows or websites.
It means more "publishable," either digitally or in print, like the kind of hairstyle you might see in a magazine, website or advertising. Think of a photoshoot for Vogue or something where might want a lot more volume and drama than anyone would wear in everyday life. (I know I copied someone else's comment but they explained it really well and they probably won't reply to every single comment asking what editorial means)
Edit: I know I am a year late but oh well.
So BEAUTIFUL!!! You made it look easy - can't wait to try. Thanks for demonstrating 👍
I watched so many videos BUT This is the first time I LEARNED IT ♥️💪🏻😻 THANK YOU
Omg her hair is 20 times thick er than mine :( would never look that dramatic on my hair:( but beautiful. I love it and i am in love with the pull out technik ♡♡ btw I ve learned it from lillithedarkmoon. She also has thin hair and showed me so great stuff i d never thought i can do with my fine hair. Thx for sharing ^^
***** you re not allone 😉
Cornelia Erhard YOure welcome! I've gotten so many request for thin hair so Ill try to work on it. Problem is, I just grab whatever model is available no matter what there hair is like. haha Ill try to pre plan.
I don't think you'd get the same effect with thin hair :-s
Nor with Real mid length hair or long. My hair is much thicker than this girls and is to my butt which means its far to heavy to hold in this style.
tried it. have thin hair. and NO it doesn't even look close to being this good.. looks sad and like I put a fork into the electrick socket..
Or with curly hair 😭😂😂😂
Gorgeous hairstylist and model too. Thanks for the tutorial, I'm grateful for your teaching, lucky us getting free, fun tutorials! :)
LOVEEE this look!!!! SO gorgeous!
"Its really modern and trendy: Me: cool!
When I see the description: 2014? Me here thinking its still trendy 2016
1 month later and I fall into same trap >_

To be fair braids are generally coming back (i feel). Could have something to do with all the amazing hairstyle in GoT, Vikings, etc. ?
I like braiding so I'm quite happy about it 😊
Me in October 2018😂😂😂
Me in November 2018
Love this hairstyle! It’s so much fun!! Can you recommend a good quick and easy hair style for super long hair (longer than my back)
Love it! So glad I found your channel!
Great tutorial!, I have a really then hair, what do you recommend? is possible to have a nice dutch braid?
+Laura Páez (LAP) I have thin hair as well, and dutch braids are definitely my faves because they are so easy to pancake, making your hair look way thicker! :)
it is true :)
If you have really THEN hair but no hair NOW, no, it's not possible.
Excellent Cat I-
crimp the hair for texture
This is awesome!!! 🙌💕
Thank you!
+Confessions of a Hairstylist hii babe
This is a very nice tutorial: Very easy to complete and it leaves a lot of room to editorialize and add things to this hairstyle!
So beautiful, she has so many hairs!!!
my question would be how can you do this with your own hair? for example, how can you braid the one strand in the center back? that's gonna be tough since you would need a back mirror or something
+Melanie Flink um you do when you don't know shit about braiding hair.. especially your own.
Melanie Flink some people just suck at braiding. I have never gotten the hang of it over years of trying
Can I volunteer my knee-length hair? Seriously, finding good hairstyles that don't give me a literal headache is hard!
I simply love it! Now I should learn how to make it myself ☺️
It's cute! I've always adored this look. Great job! A little too floof for me if they're pulled out too much.
I tried this on my fine blonde hair ..and the result was so sad
iTec Media I share the feeling, also blonde with thin hair and tried this look... Didnt help at all 😭
😂
hairstylist always seem to only use incredibly thick hair to model?!!
many have used pieces for this purpose. it's very commonly done. just add them on. extensions, they're called.
But there's a difference between having thick hair and having lots of hair. I have lots of hair but it's so fine.
Aaaa, not really, only when it's useful :-D
I have thick hair - about like this model - and many braids are impossible (or I would need super long hair, like 60 cm) because the ends of braids are too big, no tucking of anything etc.
They almost always pick models with the perfect thickness, length and structure, so it doesn't make much sense to watch if your hair is different :-/
Lady Tate It seems to me that the model’s hair are all natural.
That's not thick. That's about a quarter of the amount of hair on my head.
You're so talented! I love your styles
she's got a beautfil hair, you've done a great job
The model has amazing hair. With thinner hair you won't get the same effect unfortunately.
she has so much hair!!, i did it on my head and it doesnt look like that :( mi braids are more skinny
constanza Fuentealba Rios
Yes, when I pancake my braids they look about a little less thick than her´s before pancaking...
This is SO STUNNING. I'm trying this.
Wow, this looks great. You're so talented
I love it I just can't do it on myself
+Esperanza Hernandez Maybe with a tad practice my dear. Thanks for viewing!
Intro: This look is so easy to achieve!

Finally!! A hairstyle that fits how thick my hair is!! Thank you so much!!
fuck you
Desperate for a wedding hair style this saved my life, thanks so much!!!
what kind of bobby pins do you need? could you do a video on how to securely put them in place? my bobby pins always fall out! :(
try to put hairspray on them before using
+Kencho Ongdi Also make sure you are inserting them wavy/bumpy side DOWN (so that the wavy/bumpy side touches your scalp.) That is how you get a better grip with them and they are less likely to fall out.
closer to your scalp
Spray them with hairspray before you insert them in your hair
+Brooke Kidner WHAT. omg. are you serious. ive been doing it wrong all my life LOL
Loved it until she started pulling at the very end, it was cute but that’s too much :/ not for everyone. Beginning style is to die for though
Thank you so much!! This is an excellent tutorial! Easy to follow!
I love this one. Looks like a princess.
I just cut off & donated 10" of my hair to Children With Hair Loss, now have a "blob" ... this may be doable, am def going to try in the morning - love/miss my braids already ... was for a good cause

Wow i loveee this one ! 😍😍😍 your such an awesome hairstylist, keep up the great work !

Say editorial again.
Right. And just what does that mean when applied to a hairstyle?
(You keep using that word. I do not theen it means what you theen it means...)
@@Dragantraces Editorial hair refers to hairstyles that you would see in fashion magazines or on the runway. She's using it correctly, you're just ignorant.
Oh, I get it. It's like Deepak Chopra using "quantum" in a way that make his followers feel like they are all very clever people, even though that way has little to nothing to do with what the word means. Thanks so much for... enlightening me. Smfh.
